El paisaje en Huatulco es impactante, por un lado se encuentra el Pacífico en toda su inmensidad y por el otro el verdor de las montañas de la Sierra Mixteca. Es un desarrollo fuera de lo común, aquí no encontraremos edificios altos ya que sólo se permiten edificios de un máximo de 4 pisos, la imagen arquitectónica es muy cuidada y siempre apegada al estilo colonial del lugar, los colores de los edificios son cálidos y suaves, los cuales combinan con el azul del cielo y el mar. Es una pequeña ciudad que acaba de dar la bienvenida a dos semáforos en sus cruceros mas importantes, esto les da una idea de la tranquilidad de sus avenidas, que cuentan con bellos y cuidados jardines.

The scenery at Huatulco is stunning. On one side there is the Pacific Ocean in all its immensity, and on the other the greenness of the mountains from the Mixteca Sierra. It is a very unusual development. One cannot find high buildings since only fourstory buildings are allowed here. The architectural image is cared and always attached to the Colonia style of the place, the colors of the constructions are warm and soft, which blend perfectly with the blues of the sea and the sky. It is a small city that just welcomed a couple of traffic lights for its most important crossroad. This will give an idea of the tranquility of its avenues, beautifully framed by magnificent gardens.
Huatulco se encuentra enclavado en las estribaciones de la Sierra Madre del Sur, abarcando 35 kilómetros de litoral, entre las desembocaduras de los ríos Coyula y Copalita, en donde descansan nueve hermosas bahías: San Agustín, Chachacual, Maguey, El Órgano, Santa Cruz, Chahué, Tangolunda, Conejos y Cacaluta. De las cuales cinco son para desarrollo turístico y cuatro son consideradas áreas naturales en donde únicamente se podrán realizar proyectos ecoturísticos que respetan los lineamientos de la Semarnat.

Huatulco is buried deep in the foothills of the Sierra Madre, extending over 21.75 miles of littoral, between the mouths of the Coyula and Copalita rivers, where 9 beautiful bays rest: San Agustin, Chachacual, Maguey, El Organo, Santa Cruz, Chahue, Tangolunda, Conejos, and Cacaluta. 5 of these are assigned for tourist development, and the remaining 4 are maintained as natural areas where only ecotourism projects in accordance to the SEMARNAT regulations, will be approved.
Proyecto Agroecológico Hagia Sofía A tan sólo 40 minutos de Bahías de Huatulco se encuentra el Proyecto Agroecológico Hagia Sofía. Es un inmenso jardín que nos muestra flores exóticas, árboles frutales, senderos, cascadas y una gran cantidad de aves y bellas mariposas. Es un magnífico recorrido en donde conocerán hasta 80 variedades de frutas tropicales parar el consumo del turismo. Cuenta con un sendero de flores con más de 20,000 plantas en 300 variedades diferentes incluyendo 60 variedades de flores exóticas apreciando los bellos colores, aromas y texturas que caracterizan a cada una. En este proyecto Agroecológico de Hagia Sofía se han logrado introducir las frutas exóticas como el Rambután y Mangostán que ya se encuentran en producción. Disfrutarán mucho la travesía por el río para poder llegar al vivero y al mirador en la parte más alta del Rancho. Visitarán la cascada de la Campana en donde se podrán refrescar en sus cristalinas aguas. En el recorrido disfrutarán de bebidas frescas y frutas que se cosechan en el mismo lugar; así como de un desayuno y comida 100% orgánicos. Si usted lo prefiere se cuenta también con un menú vegetariano. Los alimentos son servidos a la sombra de majestuosos árboles, es como estar en el paraíso.

Hagia Sofia’s Agroecological Project Within only 40 minutes from the Huatulco Bay, you can find the Hagia Sofia’s Project, which consists in an gigantic garden displaying exotic flowers, fruit trees, trails, waterfalls and an enormous amount of birds and beautiful butterflies. In this amazing tour, you’ll get to know over 80 tropical fruit species, available for all tourists to consume. The numerous trails you can take have over 20,000 plants that belong to at least 300 varieties, 60 of them totally tropical, letting you appreciate the live colors, scents and textures that characterize each of them. The 9 Bays of Huatulco hold 36 beaches, each one with its own features as natural beauties: some had soft and golden sand with different shades of blue in their water due to the depth, while others boasts about their vegetation and marine life, highlighting the oysters, lobsters, turtles, snappers, clams, and snails.
Las nueve Bahías de Huatulco albergan 36 playas, cada una con características propias de bellezas naturales, unas tienen suave y dorada arena con agua de distintos tonos por la profundidad de su lecho marino, mientras que en otras su atractivo reside en la vegetación y fauna marina en donde predominan el ostión, la langosta, la tortuga, el huachinango, la almeja y el caracol. El clima de Huatulco es uno de los atractivos que más buscamos como visitantes, ya que es cálido sub-húmedo con una temperatura media anual de 28 grados centígrados, en invierno se registran temperaturas mínimas de 14 grados y máximas de 39 grados centígrados en los meses de primavera e inicios del verano.

The climate is one of its attractions most sought by its visitors. It is warm and mildly humid, with an average annual temperature of 82 F. During winter the lowest temperature reaches 57 F and the highest during spring and the beginning of summer is 102 F. The sun is there all year round, shinning intensely. We recommend our visitor to avoid long exposure to the sun at the beaches, or they will suffer at night, seeking for the fastest remedies to clams the itching. A word of caution: do not expose to the sun for long periods of time and always use sunscreens or sun blockers.

Buceo Huatulco ofrece diversos sitios de buceo a lo largo de todas las bahías, que en su mayoría pertenecen al parque nacional y algunos están a tan sólo cinco minutos del embarcadero en sus aguas protegidas por las bahías, aquí se pueden practicar todos los niveles de buceo deportivo, pero sobre todo la iniciación o bautizo, ya que se realiza casi todo el año. En sus arrecifes de coral se puede disfrutará buceando alrededor de peces ángeles, mariposas, cirujanos, lobos, flauta, loras, etc. y con un poco de suerte se pueden ver rayas, morenas, pulpos, caballo de mar y tortugas. El destino desde hace varios años cuenta con cámara hiperbárica situada en el hospital naval.
Diving Huatulco offers various diving sites all along its bays, most of them are part of the National Park and are protected by our government. Some of these sites are just five minutes away from the pier, and the water is really calm due to the bays' protection. Here you can practice diving at any level, it is one of the best places to practice your induction course, since they are available all year long. You can dive on the coral reefs amongst the great marine diversity of the mexican seas. From butterfly fish, to stingrays, octopuses, sea horses, and turtles. This beach has an hyperbaric chamber located at the Naval Hospital.

La flora y fauna del lugar es un atractivo inmenso para Huatulco ya que encontraremos especies arbóreas como el tepeguaje, los ficus mecianos, el colorín y manglares en el cordón litoral. La fauna cuenta con los armadillos, venado cola blanca, tlacuaches, iguanas, boas y víboras, así como una extensa variedad de aves donde las más características son las urracas, los zanates, el colibrí, los halcones, pelicanos, gaviotas, gorriones y loros. Huatulco cuenta con una extensión de 21,000 hectáreas de las cuales 16,400 están destinadas a la regeneración y conservación del equilibrio ecológico, dentro de las que encontramos El Parque Nacional Huatulco declarado en 1998 por el Gobierno Federal como área natural protegida con el objetivo de conservar los recursos naturales y culturales de la costa sur de Oaxaca, protegiendo con ello a 413 especies de plantas, 130 especias y subespecies de mamíferos, 291 especies de aves, 72 especies de reptiles y alrededor de 15 especies anfibias, que representan la gran variedad biológica que forma parte del patrimonio regional y mundial, así como para promover la realización de actividades científicas, educativas, recreativas y culturales bajo un principio de conservación, re-estructuración, manejo racional y sustentabilidad.

The Flora and Fauna of the area is a huge attraction in Huatulco since we can find arborous species like the Tepeguaje or Great Lead Tree, ficus mecianos, colorin and mangroves along the littoral. The fauna includes armadillo, white-tail deer, common opossums, iguanas, boas, and vipers, as well as a wide variety of birds among which the magpies, the rooks, the hummingbirds, the hawks, the pelicans, the seagulls, the sparrows, and the parrots are the most common. Huatulco has been developed over 21 Hectares of which 16,400 are maintained for the regeneration and conservation of the ecological equilibrium and where the Huatulco National Park is located. In 1998 the Federal Government declared a protected area aiming to conserve the natural and cultural resources on the Southern coast of the State of Oaxaca, including 413 species of plants, 130 species and subspecies of mammals, 291 species of birds, 72 species of reptiles, and approximately 15 species of amphibians, all of which represent a vast biological variety of the regional and worldwide patrimony, as well towards the promotion of scientific, educational, recreational, and cultural activities, under a principle of conservation and restructuration, rational management, sustainability.

Huatulco un lugar para descansar Es muy común decidir tomar unas vacaciones con la finalidad de descansar, pero en muchas ocasiones esto no sucede, pues resulta que al término de estas, necesitamos otros días de descanso para recuperarnos de las vacaciones. El hecho de estar tomando el sol a la orilla del mar durante varios días no es una garantía de descanso ya que esto ocasiona un cambio en nuestro organismo.
Las vacaciones son una completa variación en nuestro estilo de vida, dormimos hasta tarde, despertamos temprano por que queremos aprovechar el día, comemos y bebemos más, dando como resultado que al final de las vacaciones nos encontremos un poco cansados, si bien nuestro estado de ánimo nos hace ver las cosas con más entusiasmo, el cuerpo como tal merece un trato especial.

Los pastos del campo, las mesas y pistas se encuentran plantadas con bermuda común, los greens con bermuda 328 y el rough bermuda híbrido. Y para un reto mayor, los greens tienen una área promedio de poteo de 750 m2. algunos con doble nivel, obligando al golfista a una mayor destreza y exactitud.

Its dishes are innovative and inviting to the most demanding palate. Regarding local gastronomy this is the most artisanal cuisine in Huatulco. The chicken is fully covered with clay resulting in a delicious dish where the taste of dried peppers, spices and the chicken’s own juices predominates. Los Chamorros de Caro
Platillo único del Restaurante Los Almendros, hecho con el sazón de Doña Caro. Este delicioso chamorro horneado, se cocina hasta el punto de deshacerse entre el plato y la boca. Se acompaña de un nopal asado, cebolla morada, salsa verde, rábanos, cilantro y tortillas. Estamos seguros que una vez que pruebe este platillo, volverá para pedir de nuevo esta delicia.
This is a unique creation, which you can only find at Los Almendros, made with Doña Caro’s special seasoning. This exquisite chamorro is baked until it crumbles into pieces between the plate and your mouth. It’s accompanied with grilled cactus, purple onion, green salsa, radish, coriander and but of course, tortillas. We are sure that once you try this, you will have to eat it again.

Enchilada Adelita
Es un delicioso platillo originario de Cuisillos Jalisco. Elaborado a base de tortilla frita en una salsa que nos da un toque íntimo del sabor de la región. Las Enchiladas están rellenas de pechuga de pollo, sobre una cama de lechugas crujientes bañadas con crema y una variedad de queso fresco. A pesar de que su color nos denote lo fuerte del chile, tiene un sabor suave y agradable al paladar. Es uno de los tantos platillos especiales que puede degustar en el Restaurante El Tonel.
This is a traditional dish in Cuisillos, Jalisco. Made with a base of corn tortilla, fried in a delicious salsa that gives an intimate regional flavor. The Enchiladas are stuffed with chicken, on a bed of crunchy lettuce and topped with sour cream and fresh cheese. Although the intense color of the pepper on the tortilla may seem very spicy, it has a very soft taste which is very friendly with your palate. It is one of the many special dishes you can order at El Tonel Restaurant.
