Thiscourseexplorestheintersectionsofrace,ethnicity,gender,power,andlandownershipandland use WewillalsoaddressissuesofpoliticsinruralAmericaandtheproductionofAmericanfood Studentswillengageissuesofrace,gender,socialjustice,environmentalstewardship,farming,food productionandfoodservice Theclassensuresstudentsarefamiliarwiththeexistingliteratureand offersopportunitiestoapplycourseknowledgetorealworldissues.

Studentswillengagefoundationalandtransformationaltextsaddressingfoodandfarminginthe UnitedStates.Studentswillcriticallyengageawiderangeofscholarlytexts,professionalreports, medianarrativesandpopularculturetounderstandhowpoliticallyrelevantidentitiesofrace, ethnicity,andgendershapetheexperienceofAmericanagriculture.
