Our client is fortunate to have a lovely roof terrace. We cocooned the area with tall bamboo planting, and furnished it with warm grey teak upholstered furniture with plenty of soft cushions to make for a really peaceful spot to relax in.

This client came to us with plans for their new extension and they wanted to create the perfect space for spending time with family and friends. To begin with the designer met with the client to understand how the space was going to be used, their new open plan space needed to function as a state of the art kitchen, dining area and space for the whole family to relax in. They had specific requirements for the type of appliances they wanted to incorporate in the kitchen design but were open to our ideas on layout and space planning. After the first consultation, an initial presentation of the kitchen was presented to the client to bring their ideas to life, once the client agreed and we had all the details including floor plans and elevations we were able to create a three-dimensional walk-through of the kitchen for the client to sign off their design. The island is painted in our own bespoke paint colour, Dewberry which the client has then found a match of for their walls. The perimeter cabinetry is again painted in a Tom Howley paint colour, Thistle which works well with the Lyra Silestone worksurfaces in adding light to the room. Even though the space is quite large, we created plenty of clever storage solutions for the clients so we could afford to break up the solid cabinetry with open book cases and glazed dressers to give that more laid back feel to the room. Bhavin Taylor Design The owners of the property had recently purchased this 2 bedroom apartment from the landlord, however it was in need of a facelift that better suited the personality of the creative couple. So Bhavin Taylor was brought on to assist.

As work had to be done on all areas of the apartment, a lot of the tight budget poured straight into the cost of the contractor, new bathroom and kitchen. However Bhavin did not want to give the clients a basic renovation so used the limited funds to add high impact design features to each space amongst a backdrop of white and walnut floors. In the living room storage was a key requirement for the client, so Bhavin designed custom floor to ceiling storage on one side of the room and on the other a custom low media unit, which is perfect to add piles of books on leaving enough wall space to display a mixture of the clientâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s art. With both the main walls taken up Bhavin decided that the ceiling was the perfect place to add statement wallpaper and selected this Moroccan style pattern with a soft blue colour palette offering a striking yet balanced impact to the room. Re using the clientâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s sofa and armchair gives the room character and brings the perfect mix of old and new.

In the kitchen Bhavin wanted to keep this quite streamline so selected high gloss white cabinets with a dark counter top, and added a round dining table that can offer flexible seating for when they have guests for dinner. The clients existing glamorous bed frame needed a statement backdrop for it to sit against so Bhavin selected this quirky animal and stripe wallpaper from House of Hackney, which adds and element of fun to the room. Keeping everything else in the room minimal and white allows the space to be restful and perfect to sleep in. The second bedroom is used as the clientâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s home office, so Bhavin kept the space simple and functional and let the artist decorate the walls with inspirational images and her own artwork. In the bathroom, Bhavin wanted to continue the all white look, but still inject a high impact design statement and this time took to the floor, selecting a mismatched hexagon tile in shades of grey that does not over power the space. Choosing a walnut finish on the vanity unit adds an element of warmth to the bathroom and ties this room to the rest of the apartments walnut floors.

Magnificent seven to exhibit in London For the first time in the history of the school, nine designer/ makers from The Chippendale International School of Furniture will be exhibiting at the New Designers Exhibition, in London, this summer. The group of graduates, who will be showcasing their handmade, uniquely designed furniture, come from all over the world including the UK, USA, South Korea, Poland and Luxembourg. Starting on the 13th of June in Edinburgh, the nine furniture makers will begin their exhibition tour which concludes in July at the New Designers exhibition. This will be the first exhibition for The Chippendale International school of furniture to take place outside of Scotland, and the nine recent graduates will represent the school to an international audience of creators, designers, and the next generation of the craft. Former occupational therapist, Cathy Read turned artist in 2008. Cathy's paintings depict geometric shapes and inherent patterns of architecture using masking techniques, inks and acrylics. Just ten examples of the Red Arrows inspired cars are being commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge, each with special design features, hand-crafted interiors and graphic elements that draw on the visual language of aviation, as well as the skill and agility of the RAF’s globally acclaimed official aerobatic unit, the Red Arrows. Founded in 1965, the Red Arrows quickly achieved a reputation for incredible precision and awesome spectacle. Beginning with the Folland Gnat trainer before adopting the iconic BAE Systems Hawk in 1980, the team continues to demonstrate the very best in piloting prowess. The Q by Aston Martin Vanquish S Red Arrows edition is finished in striking Eclat Red, mirroring the instantly familiar livery of the Hawks and referencing the word ‘Eclat,’ the Red Arrows’ motto. A host of subtle details enhance the bodywork and interior, from white and blue carbon livery detailing to the white ‘smoke trail’ feature on the side strake. An exposed carbon fibre roof panel includes an inlaid ‘charge’ pattern mimicking the canopy design of a fast jet, while Union Jack enamel wing badges and a titanium exhaust complete the exterior package. Inside, Red Arrows and RAF inspired details are used throughout, such as the Pinewood green inserts that evoke the design of the classic flight suit and Martin Baker Ejection Seat fabric, together with the green webbing seatbelts. The signature Red Arrows emblem of nine aircraft in classic ‘diamond’ formation is embroidered on the seat backs, along with unique sill and engine inspection plaques. The latter will be signed, 1 through 10, by the equivalent number ‘Red’ pilot in the squadron. The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team logo is embroidered on the transmission tunnel, and the rear of the cabin is finished in the 2+0 configuration, allowing for rear-mounted stowage of twin racing helmets, both finished in the Red Arrows livery.

Ferrari and Poltrona Frau present “Cockpit”, the first office chair ever design by Ferrari Design Centre. Produced by Poltrona Frau, that has upholstered the interiors of Ferrari cars since the 80’, it is neither a car seat nor a pure piece of furniture or design. It is a contemporary hybrid that brings together two brands, a blend of automotive know-how and the culture of living that celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Maranello carmaker. An office chair that captures the excitement, the speed of the driver’s seat, as well as the passion for racing. The armchair has an architectural and modular structure, and offers expansion possibilities. For the moment two versions are available, the President and the Executive. Both comprise a reclining base and seat, integrated with two different backrests. The President is the managerial model with a high backrest that is inspired by the ergonomics of competitive racing seats. The Executive model, a chair that adapts to all work contexts, has a deliberately low and narrow backrest to ensure more freedom of movement. The design of “Cockpit a” synthesis of automotive innovation and inspiration and the materials are the same as those used in Ferrari cars, like the external shell moulded from carbon or alutex. The central band on the seat takes its cue from racing seats, while the swivel device sports the same design and mechanical elements as the steering wheel. For the leather upholstery, the Ferrari Design Centre team has chosen shades and finishes inspired by the trim of the three Tailor-Made service lines, which allow for the personalized configuration of the car: Scuderia, Classica and Inedita. Cockpit can also be customised in terms of its colours and materials.
