message from your DIVISION NEWS EDITOR Hi Redbulls! What’s up? We are now in the last stretch of school, but summer is right around the corner, so don’t stress it and keep grinding! I’m looking forward to going fishing with my friends at the beach and playing guitar for long summer hours. I’m also so excited to be your new Division News Editor! I hope that the skills that I bring to the table will be reflected in our future newsletters. I’ll make sure to make it aesthetic as possible, but please bear with me, because sometimes I overthink it. I want the newsletter to be something that’s easily accessible for everyone, and of course fun to read too :) Keep your heads lifted high in this last month of school, we got this Redbulls! Until next time, NATHAN RHEE D37S DNE @rhee.nathan2 4 | Message from DNE

message from your LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR What’s Stompin’, Redbulls? Welcome to summer! I’m so excited for this summer. It’s time to give ourselves a break from school and relax and have fun! Personally, I’m gonna go to the beach, hang out with some friends, and start my college applications (unfortunately). I’m also so stoked for OTC! I had the pleasure of meeting so many of you at banquet - you seem like such a fun bunch and I can’t wait to get to know you guys more. Thank you to all of you who continue to keep up the hard work and serve our community. As the end of school gets closer, let’s remind ourselves to finish strong! I know many of us (including me) are burnt out and so ready to be out of school, but I’m sure that we can be successful in the last week or so before the best summer yet. Happy reading, Redbulls :)

On May 1, Division 37 South held its first 2022-23 DCM and hosted the banquet, the last event of the 2021-22 term. Here, new officers were introduced, a new Division Leadership Team was appointed, and awards were given out. Mt. Carmel Key Club received the Club of the Year trophy, which they will keep until the following term begins. During the banquet, we also said goodbye to our seniors and had a barbeque provided for us by our wonderful Los Rancheros Kiwanians. The Redbulls had a great time eating food, getting awards, and having fun, and we can’t wait for YOU to join us again at next year’s banquet!

D37S: DCM/BANQUET For this event, I made uplifting cards for hospitalized kids. I really wanted to brighten their day so I used colorful pens and wrote positive messages. The reason I choose to make cards for hospital kids is that I feel extremely fortunate to be in good health and want to give back to others. Additionally, I hope that my cards could brighten their day since I don’t know what they are currently enduring. Sometimes simple words of kindness can go a long way and can be appreciated greatly which is why I decided to participate in this event. All in all, this event was a great experience for me since I got to spread kindness and brighten other people's days.

CANYON CREST: OFFICER MEETING

This past month was the beginning of a new term and to start it off we held an officer meeting towards the beginning of April in the first week. In addition to that we had our first general meeting of the new term on April 18th and I spoke about general information, more goals for the upcoming term, the appointed board applications being released, and working on a service project during the meeting. We had a pretty good turn out to the meeting, especially during this time of the year right before AP exams, but it was good to talk to some of the members about what I want to do and get more comfortable in my new role as CCA’s President.

I participated in the Zooniverse: Snapshot Karoo event. They give you a picture or short video taken at a protected habitat somewhere from Tanzania to South Africa, and then you identify all the species of animals in the picture. It was a fun event; almost like a puzzle trying to figure out then confirm what species each animal was. It was also nice knowing I was helping our global ecosystem and wildlife, especially since I know how dire the issue of climate change is right now.

DEL NORTE: ZOONIVERSE

In April RB Key Club had a collaboration with RB Fight Against Hunger where members from both clubs came together to share their love of volunteer work and help the members of the RB community. We organized and sorted a variety of goods that we received including gallons of water, boxes of canned nonperishable

foods,

toiletries, and other necessities. The donations we received went to 4CommunityCare where they could go to a needed home.

I made cards for foster children that don’t have access to daily words of kindness. To me, these cards were to ensure that they know their worth and that they belong in this world. I drew a fun and loving image on the front and wrote a letter of positive affirmations inside. I was able to talk with my peers, while making the cards, about how fortunate we are and how much we take love/family for granted. We took a second to realize how many kids there are without families, and it genuinely motivated me to make the cards as meaningful as possible. I really enjoyed the short amount of time we had that was spent on these messages of hope and was able to reflect on the world around me a lot more.

WESTVIEW: CARDS FOR FOSTER CHILDREN Recycling is an important part of our society. It's a way for humanity to reduce our collective waste and turn it into something good. A good portion of my life has been spent volunteering at various places, but I believe one of the events that have had the most impact is recycling. I collected a total of 200 bottles over the week, and effectively made sure that I could do my part for the club, community, and society. One of the most fantastic things that key club has done for me is allow me to find volunteer opportunities. As I walked through the neighborhood and parks collecting bottles, as well as collecting my own empty bottles, I knew that my act would do a lot of good.

POWAY: CAMPUS CLEAN UP

8 | Service Recap

This month, we had a campus clean up at our school. It was really nice to take time out of our day to clean our campus, because during lunch, I've noticed many students who disrespectfully toss their lunch food in the bushes and never pick it up. Now that I know how much work it is to clean up, I really wish people are more respectful with our campus and put in effort to keep it nice and clean. It was also an interesting experience because our group worked with our school's principal when cleaning up the gym. Overall, I'm super glad we were able to participate in this rewarding event.
