Greetings fellow Key Clubbers, How has the first bit of school been? At the time of writing this my course schedule has been so messed up so unfortunately it’s been pretty stressful, but I know it’ll be okay soon :) Hopefully your start to school has a been a strong one. We have an extremely important Regional Training Conference coming up on September 17. It will also be combined with the DCM for September! If you can, please try your best to come out and attend! Events such as the Olypicnics (which by the way you should have gone to) are really crucial for our Division bonding and just overall creating stronger chemistry with the clubbers around us. That’s all I have for this one. Peace out and cheers to another fantastic school year!

I can’t believe this quarter is almost over already. It seems just yesterday that we had our banquet to transition into a new year.Ihope you guys have been enjoying your school year so far. Soon, it’ll be time for pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin patch trips, Halloween, and apple cider. I was never much of a fall person, but I’ve got to admit, it’s starting to grow on me a little. As for Key Club, this is the most important part of your year in terms of member recruitment! Remember to participate in club rush, advertise with flyers, and hold consistent meetings to get new members to join. Educate them on the division, PTP, Fall Rally, and share your Key Club moment to your new members!

7| Message from LTG Inspired by CNH District’s #joinourhive campaign, D37S has decided to start our own inclusivity initiative! The first step will be a “Keep up with the Herd” instagram flyer that will contain all the information needed –where to reach out, where to contact, where to follow for updates. at Kit Carson Park on Saturday, August 20. This year, we sold spam musubi, a classic fan favorite, and sparkling yuzu ade, which was a great way to ward off the hot temperatures of the day. Our division made over $150 in profit!! We also had lots of fun games, like tug of war and sponge toss, and some members even donated to PTP to dump water on their LTG’s heads! Overall, it was a ton of fun and a great way to start of a new school year of service. Thank you to all the Redbulls who came out and donated to PTP, met new people, and had some good food. See you all next year!

REGION OLYMPICNIC 9| Message from LTG
On Wednesday, some of our members came out to Mira Mesa Library to participate in a book art project, and on Saturday, we had fun at Region Olympicnic. On Sunday, we had a dog toy service event and made over 500 dog toys to be donated to Helen Woodwards. On Monday, we finished up our Charity Miles big thank you to everyone who participated in all service events, whether they were independent, in person, or virtual! We hope you had fun!

This month, our club took part in the division Charity Miles competition. I am glad for this event because it allowed more of our club member to earn lots of hours in a convenient way. During the summer it's hard to maintain member participation because everyone is all over the place, so doing Charity Miles was perfect for this situation since it can be accessed anywhere. I was able to burn calories along the way, which obviously made it even better. I just hope, as the new school year starts, our club can continue to serve in this active spirit!
I volunteered at the 2022 Donate Life Transplant Games. I was assigned to work at the Quilt Square Check-In, as well as the registration desk. At the Quilting check in, we took in quilt squares from participants, and organized them into sections. We then moved these groups upstairs into the quilting showroom. At the registration desk, we assisted participants of the games in checking in and receiving the necessary information. I handed out identification lanyards as well as schedules and information packets. I also assisted passerby in answering questions about games information or giving directions to Ellaevents.Peake

As a free app, Charity Miles provides everyone the opportunity to give back to the community while exercising. Being a part of Charity Miles is truly a special experience. Knowing the actions you're taking is not only keeping yourself healthy, but also benefiting others. I believe I will be using the app long term, even after the Charity Miles Competition.

I have used charity miles on my own before, and being able to participate in the program through Key Club was so much fun. The tension of the inner club competitions really motivated us to get in as many miles as possible within the timeframe. You could see how desperate people were to get in their hours, and even programmed the app during school. This was a great way for people in the club to help organizations that benefited others, and encourage healthy activities throughout the clubs. Definitely a service project I’d like to participate in again, and hopefully there are more competitions between clubs! Camila Abramowitz

On the fourth of July, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Rancho Bernardo Spirit of the Fourth Fireworks Show. This event took place at the field of the Bernardo Heights Middle School where there was live music performed by local bands and a variety of food trucks. Starting from 6 p.m., more and more people came pouring into the field, bringing along blankets and lawn chairs to sit on while watching the fireworks show. As a volunteer, I was given the responsibility of collecting donations at the entrance, which would go towards next year's Spirit of the Fourth Fireworks show. After a few hours of collecting donations, the other volunteers and I were allowed to watch the beautiful fireworks show.

Firefighters do much for our community, especially in California where fires are prone. To be able to express my appreciation for their contributions to our community was extremely rewarding. While making these Thank You notes I was able to truly appreciate the firefighters who often risk their own safety to keep the community safer. During these summer months leading into fall, there are frequent fires. I hope these Thank You notes during these times can benefit the firefighters who are keeping our community safe. Emily Han I participated in Zooniverse: Snapshot Karoo, which is a virtual event. In this event, I identified wildlife that is native to Africa by observing snapshots of images taken of the animals by an automatic camera. To correctly categorized the animal I chose for a selection of indicators in order to narrow down what species the animal was from. I enjoyed this event as it was ex-tremely convenient, and I could complete it at home or whenever I had free time.
Clara Choy I participated in Free Rice, where I answered different multiple choice questions, in different categories, where my correct answers gave 10 grains of rice to countries in need. The more questions answered the more rice I was able to collect which will be donated. I enjoyed this because of how simple it was to donate something to those who need it. Answering questions that were easy and engaging made continuing to play, and collect rice fun and simple! Overall, I think this service event is something that is very convenient, while also beneficial!
