message from your DIVISION NEWS EDITOR Hi Redbulls! Hi all, I hope you have enjoyed this past summer! We have about two weeks until school starts (if this is published at the beginning of the month) so gear up for another wild but fun school year :) I honestly had a blast at this year’s OTC, NintendOg-TC as a presenter. It was so cool to see so many different clubs, especially from D21. If you weren’t able to make it this time around, I HIGHLY encourage you to attend because they have more than 15 different workshops to learn about every single aspect of Key Club. Even if you are not a member, you are still more than welcome to join. I personally saw a few members and we actually cheered them on. And if for whatever reason you were unable to attend, we invite you to join our RTC in September! Also shoutout to Mena Vo, the DNE from D21 that was my presenter partner! You are literally so amazing and energetic!! 🤩 Don’t forget we have a DCM every month! The August DCM will be on August 20. Hope to you see you all there :D Stomping with service,

message from your LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR What’s Stompin’, Redbulls? As summer draws to an end and we’re nearing the start of school again, I want to thank you all for an amazing summer! We got a lot of service and bonding projects in, we got to meet some other divisions in the region, and I’ve seen you guys get a lot of service hours! This month, I encourage you to go outside for a walk or a jog, especially as we are nearing the end of the Charity Miles competition. Who knows - maybe the winning school will even get a special something! Charity Miles is personally one of my favorite events because it lets you get healthy AND get service hours. As we start school again, I just want to remind you guys to take some time and relax! I know that starting a new year with new teachers and classmates can seem intimidating, but you’re gonna be just fine. If you’re having a hard time, feel free to reach out to me and I’ll try my best to help in any way I can. Keep stompin’ with service, Redbulls! -XOXO, Mama Redbull

I did 22 miles of the Charity Miles. Charity Miles donates money on every mile you swim, walk, run, bike, just basically whenever you exercise. I love how my personal fitness, such as my personal walk and runs, can benefit those in need. I also felt connected with the members of our Torrey Pines Key Club from this fundraising app. Charity Miles is great for individuals that want and wish to raise money year-long, I strongly recommend it.

PHS: School Cleanup
For this month we could not do anything due to personal reasons and are club members are enjoying their vacations as much as they can with family. But are previous project was cleaning Hilary Park. At the time we could not clean the entire place due to the heat and we were too scared to go further on cleaning Hilary Park. Since the park has a little forest, but it was not far from the actual park, we decided to try to clean some part of the forest. But as we look further, there was a pile of cards and there was a backpack. My friend, president, did not want to go further on the cleaning, but me and my sis did not the trash be there for long. So we cleaned most of the trash because we did not want to touch the backpack. That day was exhausting.
At the volunteering event, what is essentially done is checking in ice skaters, ice skating coaches, and organizing incoming test credit and protocol papers. You greet and check in ice skaters coming to compete once they come to the desk. Then you find their name in the alphabetized lanyard card pile, attach the lanyard to the card, and then hand to the competitor along with a goodie bag. When asked about test credit, you have the one who asked to fill out a provided form and call a runner on the provided radio to pick up and run to accounting. When asked about protocol sheets, they pay a quarter to get the paper and the money goes into a provided cash box. Any questions can be asked to the event organizer, Wendy Smith.

Cathedral Catholic: Book Drive
Seeing that the book drive in March was so successful, we gave our red bulls another opportunity to continue donating any old books lying around. We had a lot more donations come in, with a range from picture books to long reads. I’m glad we continued the drive, and this time worked to donate to San Diego Public Libraries in multiple locations. Books were dropped off, and then we went out and gave an even amount to every library we could reach. It was rewarding to see how grateful everyone was, and how committed our Redbulls are to helping others!
In the beginning of June, RB Key Club joined RBGSL for their softball tournament. We were stationed at the snack bar and grill where we provided the softball teams, parents etc with snacks and cold drinks during a hot weekend of games. It was a fun way to interact with a tight community and also be able to work together with other parents and kids. We learned how to use a register and helped families pay,in addition to making nachos, burgers, hot dogs, and grabbing various snacks. It was nice knowing we were helping the family-owned snack bar gain profit and lighten their workload. It was also fun seeing the smiles on the players’ faces when giving them candy and talking to them after their games while they cooled off with ice cream and Gatorade.

RANCHO BERNARDO: RBGSL
Going to volunteer for Feeding San Diego was meaningful because we were able to save foods that would otherwise have been wasted to give to local families in need. We packaged and sorted the foods so Feeding San Diego could distribute food to people in need. We were able to prevent 800 pounds of consumable food from being wasted. Through this experience, I was also able to put into perspective how grateful I should be for what I have because some people need to rely on Food Banks like Feeding San Diego to get food. Volunteering here was an overall great experience that allowed me to contribute to my community and I would definitely do it again.
CCA: Food Bank I participated in the Zooniverse: Snapshot Karoo event. They give you a picture or short video taken at a protected habitat somewhere from Tanzania to South Africa, and then you identify all the species of animals in the picture. It was a fun event; almost like a puzzle trying to figure out then confirm what species each animal was. It was also nice knowing I was helping our global ecosystem and wildlife, especially since I know how dire the issue of climate change is right now.
DNHS: Snapshot Karoo
I've volunteered with the San Diego Running Co. before and this run was special because it was the first of summer! It was also our first run that was not early in the morning! Our group pulled 15 volunteers within 3-4 days and it's the most we got compared to the last term. Because we had so many, we all split up in pairs and so some people were working at the water station and some were cheering/leading people in the right direction. We also all helped with set up and clean up. If I learned anything from this event, it would have to be to not be afraid to put yourself out there and have fun with it. I was one of the cheerers and I was dancing, smiling and having fun. By far, my favorite marathon we helped out with. This was our first in-person event for the term and I can't wait to have more :)

MEMBER RECOGNITION PROGRAM Member Recognition Program (MRP) Four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum Members MUST be dues paid to be eligible for the MRP. The requirements are automatically tracked by secretary and EA’s, so make sure to reach out to them if you want to check up on your progress!
CNH District Contests provide a way for CNH Bees to be recognized for their hard work. Officers may apply for distinguished or outstanding President, Vice president, Secretary, Treasurer, or Editor. They may also apply to the Sandy Nininger Award, which proves that officers have gone farther than even Distinguished and have served the district on a very large scale. Specific requirements for e-portfolio can be found on the CNH Cyberkey under the Recognition tab.

KEY LEADER What is Key Leader? Key Leader is an annual service leadership education program hosted by Kiwanis International and offered to high school students. The benefits of Key Leader go BEE-yond Key Club and will help high schoolers later on in life! For CNH, Key Leader takes place in three different camps: Camp Cedar Glen in Julian, (Southern) California: October 14th-16th, 2022 Camp Jones Gulch in La Honda, (Northern) California: November 18th-20th, 2022 Camp Ojai in Ojai, (Southern) California: April/May, 2023
Sponsorships and Fundraising
What Clubs Can Do: Fundraise to pay for member’s Key Leader registration! - Host fundraisers on the Division and Club level whose funds go to Key Leader -Start putting aside some money from your current funds to go towards Key Leader.
The cost for one student ticket is $250. This covers all fees EXCEPT transportation. It is important that we give Key leaders as much support and help as possible, as we do not want their financial situation to hinder them from a life-changing leadership experience.
- Reach out to Kiwanis for full/partial sponsors! Recommending a Key Clubber may result in successful sponsorship!
Many Key Club events cost money, so it is great to help students financially and provide equal opportunities. If possible, it would also be of great service to help students coordinate transportation, as transportation is not provided – for example, Club Presidents can help find people for them to carpool with!
