Meet the New DLT Upcoming Events Division Goals Progress

10 - 13 14 15

A Message From Your LTG Happy Summer Redbulls! I hope you have all been having a BEE-utiful summer of service and fun. If you're reading this right now, it probably means you are still tuned into Key Club news and committed enough to look through this wonderful newsletter created by our new DNE, Angela Chen, so congratulations to you! I know it is often difficult to stay motivated and involved, but it is so important that you don't lose steam before the school year starts. I have lots of personal experience with losing motivation, so trust me when I say that the best way to get past it is to just keep pushing through and reminding yourself of your responsibility to Key Club and all the members and officers who rely on you to do your very best work. As summer quickly comes to an end, please keep in mind that there are plenty of service events still available, so don't forget to keep earning those service hours! Also be sure to plan the Key Club year ahead of time if you are an officer. Working closely with our amazing DLT, I have been planning a great year for us all--look forward to being more pumped than ever for Region Training Conference in September and Fall Rally in November! I hope to see you all at Region Picnic coming up, and have a great rest of your summer! Yours In Service,

A Message From Your News Editor Hi Redbulls,

Hope you're having a wonderful summer so far! My name is Angela Chen and I am honored to serve as your News Editor for the 2018 - 2019 term. Although Key Club tends to slow down over the summer, we still participated in several events, from attending OTC to hosting bake sales, many of which are included in this month's newsletter. This is the very first newsletter that I have created for the term, so I hope you all enjoy and look forward to the next issues of The Redbull Reader! Stomping for service,

Angela Chen

Officer Training Conference written by: Angela Chen On Saturday, July 7th, I attended Officer Training Conference. There, I saw many key club members from Division 37 South as well as Division 21, and I got to spend time with several Del Norte key club members. During the DCM, Del Norte received the Distinguished Club of the Month award and our secretary, Adam, received Officer of the Month for his outstanding work ethic. There were also many presentations at OTC - I worked together with Division 37 South spirit coordinator Destiny Do Thanh to present When Officers Don't Do Their Work and Annual Planning. After the majority of the presentations, we participated in some icebreakers, one of which was a competition between the two divisions to see which one could bring particular items (like hats, hair ties, etc.) to the member standing in the front the fastest. This resulted in people tossing items towards the member in front, which was quite entertaining. Next, everyone gathered at the outdoor tables for lunch, in which several of my fellow Del Norte key club officers raced for second servings of the delicious Hawaiian meal. After eating and wrapping up the last few presentations, we gathered outside for a group picture, one per division, to mark the end of OTC. Although I spent most of my time during the event teaching others how to fulfill their officer duties, I still learned much about leadership through the officers around me. Everyone there was extremely dedicated to key club and motivated to contribute more to volunteering and improve their home club, inspiring those around them to continue their hard work.

Meet Your Dennis Li - Executive Assistant

Hi Red Bulls! My name is Dennis Li and I am excited to be serving as one of your Executive Assistants for the 2018-2019 term! A little bit about me: I enjoy playing basketball and Fortnite in my free time, my favorite TV shows are Modern Family and Bob's Burgers, I enjoy eating those spicy Korean noodles, and I have been binge watching Marvel movies recently. As Executive Assistant, I plan on helping our LTG, Mimi, with any of her tasks in order to lighten her workload, as well as work with the Kiwanis members in order to bring you guys more Kiwanis events! I also look forward to planning some of the DCMs this term and creating interesting activities each month (I recommend attending DCMs, they're a fun way to meet new Key Clubbers and become more involved in the club =) ). I hope to have a great 2018-2019 term!

Fiona Choo - Secretary

10

My name’s Fiona Choo and I’m D37S Division Secretary from 2018-2019! I’m soon to be a sophomore and I go to Canyon Crest Academy. I joined Key Club during my freshman year and as I work on the Division Leadership Team, I want to build my dedication and find a stronger passion towards Key Club. My plans for this position is to make sure everything is organized and help out with club secretaries and club members if needed. My goal is to turn all forms I need to on time, act accordingly to any situation, and complete all tasks on time no matter what. I’m very excited to work as secretary on the DLT!!

New DLT! Jaclyn Ha - Executive Assistant

Hey Division 37 South! My name is Jaclyn Ha, and I am one of your Executive Assistants on the Division Leadership Team for the 2018-2019 term. I am a sophomore at Canyon Crest Academy with a passion to serve to the best of my ability. I love being a part of a organization of people that gives back to its community and enthusiastically welcomes anyone and everyone that decides to join. I plan to attend as many events as possible, especially the DCMs, so if you see me, don't be afraid to come over and say hi! As it's my duty to help out the Lieutenant Governor, I'll most likely be next to Mimi helping plan out and keep events running smoothly. Because I am just in tenth grade, I'll might not be as able to contribute as much due to my limited knowledge, but I wanted to be EA of the division to learn more about Key Club and be able to lend a better hand to all our members. I want to get to know all of my fellow key clubbers and hope to bring our members even closer within our division. I hope that we all get along and can cooperate effectively to make our division better. I'll work hard to be an efficient Executive Assistant that you all can depend on to improve our outstanding division. Hope to see you around! Mark Troftgruben - Service Project Coordinator

Hello! My name is Mark Troftgruben and I’ll be your Service Projects Coordinator for this term. I am a rising senior at Westview and some of my favorite things to do are watching/playing football, hiking or watching movies with friends and going to Key Club DCMs. I love Korean BBQ, ramen, boba and honestly anything that tastes good. I was also born and raised in Japan (my mother is Japanese). For this upcoming term, I am looking forward to being as creative as possible with service projects and would like to avoid hosting them at 5K runs all the time.

Meet Your New Destiny Do Thanh - Spirit Coordinator

Hey Red Bulls! My name is Destiny Do Thanh and I'm one of our division's Spirit Coordinators! I go to Westview High School and this year I'll be a junior. In my free time I like to take pictures, find new music, play badminton, swim, or hangout with friends. When I hang out with my friends, I'm typically hanging around somewhere in convoy or Mira Mesa, so if you ever see me feel free to say hi! Throughout my term I hope to become friends with everyone in our division, and help other people within our division branch out and make new friends as well. With my partner Haley Tran, I hope to accomplish making brand new merchandise to show our spirit, writing new cheers, making our division more of family, and improving division attendance. Of course these aren't our only goals, we hope to make more throughout our term, if have any ideas yourself feel free to contact me or Haley. Angela Chen - News Editor

12

Hi Redbulls! My name is Angela Chen and it is an honor to serve as your Division News Editor for the 2018-2019 term! I am a rising senior at Del Norte, and when I'm not busy making the next newsletter, I enjoy drawing, reading, and obsessing over pink fluffy unicorns. This year, I hope to strengthen communication between the division and the members and promote Key Club in the greater community through the monthly newsletters. I also hope to contribute to Key Club's inclusive spirit by befriending more members and welcoming newer members. If you see me at DCMs, DSPs, or other Key Club events, don't be afraid to come and say hi! (Bonus points if you mention your love for unicorns too)

DLT! (cont.) Haley Tran - Spirit Coordinator

Hey Key Clubbers! I'm Haley Tran and it is my upmost pleasure to serve you as one of your Spirit Coordinators for this 2018-2019 term! I am currently a sophomore at Westview High School and joined Key Club just last year. My eagerness to become more involved with this organization only continues to grow and I am so glad to be a part of the DLT this year. Some major goals I have for this upcoming term is to improve attendance at major spirit events such as RTC and Fall Rally as well as bring our spirits to our peak. I also hope to host a lot more spirit socials to be certain everyone feels comfortable for big events and to make sure we all work as one. Most importantly, I want to hear from YOU! Please, always feel free to contact me at anytime with your suggestions and opinions. I hope to get to know all of the members of the red bull family better this year and can't wait for what is to come.
