message from your DIVISION NEWS EDITOR What’s up, Red Bulls! Happy October! I love this time of the year because it just means we’re closer to holiday season. Now that school has kicked in, I’ve gotten a lot more busy juggling school, my Key Club responsibilities, my job, and college applications. I hope everyone else is taking care of themselves! In honor of the month of October, I’ve dedicated this newsletter to the spooky season along with other fall festivities. The photo below was taken in Halloween 2007, a time when I was still forced to wear matching costumes with my older sister. Thankfully, that’s not the case anymore. I hope you enjoy this edition of the RED BULLETIN! Take care, everyone. ANGIE VO D37S DNE @angiehvo

message from your LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR What’s Stompin’ Red Bulls! Happy spooky month everyone! I hope everyone had a great start to virtual school. With school finally starting, Key Club recruitment does to. I feel like my first Key Club meeting was just yesterday and I didn’t know how much it was going to change my life. Make sure to pay your dues so all of your hours count and so you can run for recognition. CNH has had a tremendous downfall in members and I believe that we can help bring it back up! As always, feel free to reach out to me about any questions! Love you all and hope you have a safe Halloween.

recap LETTERS OF LOVE, Westview “Because I wasn’t able to attend in-person service projects, writing cards for the elderly was a great way to participate in Key Club at my own leisure. I wrote a short message in each of the cards, wishing the receiver and their close friends and family good health, adding a short encouragement, and writing a little about myself. All in all, I thought this service project was pretty relaxing and simple to do while also providing a bit of communal love for those who need it most.” - Jayden Xia “In order to complete this service event, I came up with a friendly and personalized note to put on each letter! I then cut up squares of paper with supplies I had readily at my disposal. After I wrote the notes, I carefully colored and designed each letter to have a more fun touch. Once I was done, I put each letter in its own envelope in order to separate them. Lastly, I put all those envelopes in an even bigger mailing envelope and sent it out for the seniors to receive.” - Trinity Yacoub

recap BEACH CLEANUP, CCA

“Key CLubbers of Canyon Crest Academy and Mt. Carmel collaborated to clean up local beaches like Torrey Pines, Powerhouse, and Fletcher’s Cove. While being mindful of COVID-19, the Key Clubbers wore gloves and masks and also socially distanced. With the right safety precautions many Key Clubbers took part in this event to help keep our environment clean and safe. This service project gave Key CLubbers the opportunity to give back to their community while having fun with friends. Despite the circumstances, everyone still managed to have a good time while cleaning up the beaches.” - Anna Nguyen & Lena Chen 7 | Service Recap

recap THANK YOU CARDS, RB

“RB Key Club held a service project to make cards and letters to our local healthcare workers to show our appreciation for all their hard work. I wrote several cards, making sure each one was colorful and decorated front to back. To add a little detail to make their day, I added a cool word of the day that you've likely never heard of, decorated with vibrate patterns. Each card is decorated differently, but they all contain the same amount of gratitude I have for all their help in bettering our community. I loved participating in this event because it's not only easy, but a great way to brighten up someone's day. - Ashley Nguyen

BOOKMARKS, Poway I participated in creating bookmarks to encourage kids to read. I found the bookmarks fun to make since I was able to watch TV while making them. I tried to make each bookmark unique and colorful. I am not artistic so I cut up scrapbook paper, colorful tape, and string tassels to make my different designs. These ended up being quite relaxing to create and it is nice to know that they will be going to other children. - Tess Putrow

recap DOG TOYS “I made dog toys which was very fun and brought back memories from when we could make them together in person. Our friends would all get together on a call and make the dog toys, and it was nice being able to talk with friends while also doing a service project and knowing we were helping the community. It was also a good way to get rid of old shirts while also getting service hours.” - Audrey Zeng, Del Norte “At the August DCM, I took part in a service project that I will definitely remember! We made dog toys with old shirts. By cutting the shirts into strips of cloth and knotting the pieces together, I was able to create many dog toys with different knot patterns and combinations of colors. This was the first event I did that helped pets and I am a huge fan of all dogs, so this was an amazing opportunity. I hope that the toys will help entertain them despite the shortage of volunteers during the ongoing pandemic. I look forward to the day when we can all meet in person!” - Eleanor Jung, Mt. WHAT IS RTC?

recap

Region Training Conference, or RTC, is an annual event where Key Clubbers from Region 1.5 (Divisions 11, 21, 31, 37N, 37E, 37W, & 37S) gather and experience a series of workshops, icebreakers, a talent show, and a spirit battle! The even normally takes place at a specific venue.

WHAT’S DIFFERENT? Due to COVID-19, the lovely LTGs of Region 1.5 worked so hard to create a virtual RTC. Fortunately, there was still a talent show and a battle for the spirit stick! Through a series of games, the seven divisions competed to win the spirit stick.

WHO WON THE SPIRIT STICK? WE DID! Division 37 South fought hard and secured the spirit stick. Congratulations, Red Bulls!
