Hey Red Bulls, It’s hard to believe that time has passed so quickly! I hope that you are all staying on top of things and managing your time well, whether it be with school work, college apps, sports or more. It was awesome to see that the month of August had such a large increase in service hours, as well as a bump in funds raised for service! A big shoutout to the members (and club leadership) that was able to make this increase happen! T-Shirts have been ordered, and should be arriving by RTC. If you haven’t preordered a shirt, there will be limited quantities available on a first come first serve basis. Additionally, a ticket price for Region Training Conference has been set – a ticket will be $12 and the event will be taking place at Steele Canyon High School on Saturday, October 4th from 11am – 5pm. A reminder to all officers to start looking for chaperones to Fall Rally South! Tickets are $31 presale this year and are due to the district office by October 24th. Our term is nearly halfway over, so be sure to make the best of the time that you have left. The goal is to leave no regrets! Stomping for service, Michael Zhang

Event Spotlight

Color Me Rad 5K On August 23, I volunteered for the Color Me Rad 5k. This was my second year volunteering for this event so I knew what to expect-- or I thought I knew what to expect. I dressed comfortably, hoping our group would be assigned a color station. After merging with another small group, we got assigned to the pink color station. I was excited to get started. One thing that was different this year was the usage of bottles to spray the color on the runners. Although I was a little disappointed we weren't supposed to throw the color, using the bottles to spray people was fun. After ten minutes, we started getting tired of refilling the inconvenient bottles and decided to lightly toss the color. The participants were excited to get hit with color and there was a very happy and energetic atmosphere. Seeing my friends in the run made my experience even better. The clean up for this event wasn't too much and we got snacks at the volunteer table after. I enjoyed volunteering at this year's Color Me Rad 5k more than last year's and I look forward to this event next year. By: Isabella Hoang, Torrey Pines High School

Grape Run Grape Day 5K is a 5K run in Escondido that raises money and awareness for multiple sclerosis. Volunteers woke up in the early hours of the morning to get to the event at 5:00 AM. After signing in, we were provided with some fruits for breakfast and even received t-shirts! We helped the staff set up tents, as well as the starting line and finish line. However, our real job was to cheer the runners on at the starting line at the start of the race, and at the finish line, at the end of the race. Volunteers were given thunder sticks to make cheering more fun for both the runners and us! A lot of the runners were affected by ms (multiple sclerosis), so it was very inspiring to watch them run for the cause. We all had a really good time cheering the runners on as they ran to raise funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis!

Mt. Carmel Registration

The days of summer are quickly ending, and a new school year is just around the corner. That means that it is officially time for students to get their textbooks and start worrying about all the AP summer assignments they have yet to finish. Working in the library for all three days of registration, I quickly learned where all the textbooks were, and how to effectively get them quickly and accurately. On Monday, there was a slow, steady stream of sophomores, and we found that we were rarely short-staffed or out of books. However, on Tuesday, with mobs of juniors and seniors, the three of us Key Clubbers constantly found ourselves almost running just to keep up. Also, at lunch (between the 2 shifts), the fire alarm somehow accidentally got set off, and firefighters even had to come to our school. Talk about an eventful day! On Wednesday, the 3rd day, my skills were especially put to the test. While getting the incoming freshmen their textbooks, I also walked backwards and advertised the awesomeness of Key Club. I found out that most of the parents were really enthusiastic and wanted their kids to join when I brought up how it looks great on college applications. (Which, by the way, it doesJ) Hopefully we’ll get a lot of new members this year!
