January 2024
Dear Members, Happy New Year! I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday season with family and friends. The Club really sparkled over the holidays with a full schedule of new and traditional holiday events. The Candlelight Wine Dinners, Family Tea, Santa Brunch, Holiday Charcuterie Class, Eve of the Eve, and New Year’s Eve dinner were well attended and enjoyed by a diverse cross section of our membership. All of our dining venues remained open and busy throughout the holiday season as members enjoyed the Club with family and friends. With the holiday season at a close, we are grateful to be looking back on a successful 2023, and ahead to a fresh new year at The Club.

Our treasured Club House, celebrating its 95th year in 2024, provides us with a beautiful home base, with our continuing investment in its maintenance. After completing the new Pavilion, we’re looking ahead to a series of projects in the year ahead, from new first floor mens and womens bathrooms to updated furniture and conversation spaces in the Club,to the unglamorous “behind the scenes” HVAC updates, an updated pool filtration system and the final phase of the entire Club House window replacement - all in keeping with the architectural significance of our club house , and more. Thanks, as always, for your patience as we complete these projects, and for your support of our ongoing maintenance around the Club. Thank you for your commitment to Michigan Shores Club. Happy New Year.

Another little secret to trick the brain is consuming different macronutrients in a specific order. According to the head physician, Dr. Mark Hyman of Cleveland Clinics, Head of Strategy and Innovation of Functional Medicine, the best order to consume food is vegetables first (like salads), then protein (surf & turf), and carbs at the end (like delicious desserts).
