September 2022
Hello Members, It’s hard to believe it’s already time to look back on ‘the summer that was’ at Michigan Shores! Beautiful weather set the tone for memorable experiences at the Club, including a successful camp season with 160+ children participating over five sessions. The pool and fitness centers were buzzing with the fresh faces of kids home from school.
Our senior members came out in force for the new Wednesday Luncheon Club and Young at Heart dinners, both drawing crowds and rave reviews. The energy this summer reminded us all that life is finally feeling a little more normal - what a relief, and what a gift. Of note, we hosted a dinner celebrating some of our members with over 50 years of membership at the end of July with a dinner at the Club honoring their long-stand ing commitments and contribution to the Club over half a century! Joining us were Peggy Rees, Dick and Betsy Rutledge, William and Ruth Smith, and Rosemary Steel. With new routines setting in, we turn to all the Fall programming ahead! The Labor Day BBQ caps off the summer, launching us into a season of Book Club (9/8) and Speaker Series (9/27), Fall Winemaker Dinners (9/13 and 9/23). Back to school season celebrations include a family Dance Party (9/17) and, for the moms who survived the summer, Ladies Night Out (9/22). Finally, dust off your dirndls and lederhosen for the annual Oktoberfest party (9/30). We continue to move forward with our plans for the new outdoor Pavilion project with the Village and contractors, with our sights set firmly on a Spring 2023 open ing. Please join us for a September 20th All-Member Meeting to discuss upcoming projects and plans for the Club. I look forward to seeing you there. In the meantime, enjoy these warm late-summer days. Eschel 847-251-4100
The courts were busy with pickleball and die-hard paddle players. Members enjoyed the Family Dance Party, Father's Day Brunch & BBQ, Lobster Boil, wine tastings, Golf Society outings, painting parties, Saturday Night Live Music and family movie nights.
