New Apartment Amenity – Free Wi-Fi
Turner BARK
Midtown Crossing, Greater Omaha’s award-winning urban development, is preparing to roll out a new amenity for its apartment residents – free Wi-Fi Internet service. “In terms of being one of the premier destinations to live, work and play, this was an opportunity to extend the free, public layer of Wi-Fi service, currently offered in Turner Park, into the residential units,” said Tony Young, Vice President of Client Relations, The Lund Company, Midtown Crossing’s independent property management company. Communication Services Inc., an Omaha-based communications solution provider and wireless specialist, is installing the network access points right now. The same company outfitted Turner Park with its free Wi-Fi last year. The apartment network, which will support up to 300MB of bandwidth, will allow residents to surf the Internet, check email and update social media conveniently – and economically. “There is no cost for the basic public layer. It’ll be like any other public hot spot,” said Young.

Those residents looking for faster speeds will be able to upgrade their broadband connection through a month-to-month subscription with no contract. “If they want to stream video or do online gaming, we’ll have several different layers that they can subscribe to,” said Young. “The beauty of that approach,” he continued, “is that once they subscribe, they’ll have their own secure identity, which helps eliminate the concern over the public access. Their secure identity will travel with them in the development wherever the Wi-Fi footprint is enabled. So, say you had a friend in the other building, you could get your secure connection in their apartment at the bandwidth you signed up for.” The Wi-Fi network is expected to be up and running in the contemporary apartments around Labor Day. Young said a kickoff party is being planned. “I think it’s going to be a great amenity,” he said.

We are very happy to announce that we have completed our transition from one package receiving software to another. We see approximately 50-90 packages per day and we want to make sure our residents are getting the package notifications they require. Every resident has a choice to receive an email, text or both, when a package arrives. If you are not getting notified as you wish, please stop by our or call the Concierge desk in building #4 and let us know. Other information that will be helpful, is if there is someone else in your unit that will also be getting packages and they would like a notification as well. Our software recognizes condo/apartment numbers and if we do not have a relative or significant other in our system, it will default to the name in our system. So please help us be aware of everyone that will be receiving packages in your unit, and give us the authorization to notify them as preferred. We have had so much fun serving the Midtown Crossing community this summer, and we are looking forward to the fall, and holiday season. Remember, if you are hosting a party for the End of Summer Concert Series and could use an extra hand to prepare, or would like some help in making it memorable, give your Concierge a call at 402-934-7641.
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT Refer a friend!! Midtown Crossing management offers referrals! CHICAGO DAWG MOVING TO MIDTOWN CROSSING (cont’d from page 1)
“It’s as authentic as it can be – the hot dogs, the buns, the Italian beef and the Gonnella rolls we put it on all come from Chicago, as do the pickles, the neon relish, the sport peppers, darn near everything,” said Kelly Keegan who owns Chicago Dawg House with his wife, Regina. They purchased the restaurant – currently located near 108th & W. Maple Road – from its previous owner in March of 2012. Kelly said moving to the new Midtown Crossing location – 3157 Farnam St. – is simply going to be better for business. “There’s no foot traffic and there’s no visibility from 108th & Maple,” he said. He added, “There’s a vibe down there a Midtown Crossing. I feel it. I’ve met everyone at Midtown. It truly is a team. They all work together to ensure each other’s success. It’s going to be fun being part of that group.” Kelly is promising Dawg House fans an upgraded, affordable and family-friendly experience. At 3850 sq. ft., the Midtown Crossing location is 1850 sq. ft. larger than the current spot. “I’m going to triple my seating. We will also have face-to-face seating, which we don’t have at our current store,” he said. The new restaurant will also include a dugout-style seating area and some stadium-style seating with actual seats from Wrigley, Rosenblatt and Riverfront Stadiums. The décor will remain Cubs inspired. “You’re going to think you’re at Wrigley Field, that’s the goal. It’s all Cubs’ colors,” Kelly said. “We’re re-doing the mural (from the current location) so it has that outfield feel to it. … I’m going to have a flagpole in there. When the Cubs win, the ‘W” flag goes up.” A midtown resident, Kelly was born and raised in Omaha, but said he fell in love with Chicago fare during extended business trips to the city. “I learned that Chicago food rocks. After a year and a half, I gained 40 pounds,” he laughed. Kelly said he anticipates an October 1 grand opening. In the meantime, look for the Chicago Dawg House “Weiner Wagon” at Midtown Crossing’s community events, including Jazz on the Green and the End of Summer Concert Series.
