MWBH Q & A Section How do you treat dry flaky scalp during the winter months? Besides a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, I would try a hot oil treatment. Also try frequesnt massages to the scalp, this increases blood flow and helps to open pores releasing natural oils.
How long do you have to wait after relaxing your hair, to put color in your hair? Professionals usually recommend you to wait atleast 2 weeks after a chemical treatment before doing another. So wait atleast 2 weeks after your relaxer before you color your hair.
How does cutting the ragged ends off your hair, cause your hair to grow? Trimming your hair helps keep the ends from breaking off, therefore allowing your hair to grow. You get better results because of the lack of breakage.
Are professional relaxers better for your hair than box relaxers? The difference between Professional relaxers and box relaxers is that the professional relaxers have lye and the box relaxers are nolye. Because of the no-lye, the at home relaxers tend to take a little longer to straighten, which is good if it takes you a while to apply the product.
Can Olive Oil really condition your hair. Yes, olive oil moisturizes hair, helps stop breakage, and leaves hair shiny and healthy. I use a curling iron every morning. What product can I use to protect my hair from the excessive heat? Try Silk Elements Megasilk Olive Heat Protection Spray. It can be found at your local beauty store for about $5.00.

Do always remember that if you do not know what you are doing, always go to a professional for any chemical processes.

Exercising and Hair Maintenance: You Don’t Have to Choose!
14
Exercising is a constant dilemma
when it comes to African American hair. The issue is that when we sweat, our hairstyles don’t tend to hold, our edges get fuzzy, and pressed hair tends to curl back up. To avoid having those issues, and still being able to create a healthy body, I have put together some hair tips for exercising. 1. Wear hair in a snug ponytail or bun. Try to keep hair off of the neck, which becomes sweaty when working out. So if your pony tail is long, you might twist it and pin it up until you are done. Also, try wearing a sweat band around edges to keep from becoming fuzzy. 2. Wear hair in braided styles like twist, micro braids, or cornrows. 3. Go natural. Most women who wear their hair natural don’t have any problems with working out. This is because the hair is already in its curly natural state. 4. Another option is to wear a sew in weave. This is where your hair is braided in cornrows, then weave is sewn onto the braids. Just make sure you go with a style that will not make you hot and will still be easy for your scalp to breathe. 5. Another option is wearing a wig. You can elect to take the wig off while exercising, and when you are done, you can put the wig back on. There are many wonderful human and synthetic wigs, and also half wigs (which are wigs that stop about 2 inches from your hairline, then you come your hair over the top of the wig) that would give you the style you want, and also the convenience. 15
