found, rebuilt and campaigned Neal Parker’s Excavator Fiat as part of New England Dragway’s 7.0 program. Parker’s machine was one of the group’s main attractions. The two plan to carry that mantle when they launch their debut at the Epping track on June 2.
Bernasconi said, “We’re starting off with a four car field at the June 2, New England event. We have a great lineup set for the relaunch and will look at adding more six-second, 200 MPH altereds in the future.” They will not be alone in helping revive the iconic name. Scott Jezak has offered to help the group return to its spot as one of the most sought after groups in drag racing. That will include bringing their program to other tracks across the east coast. I lost my main sponsor and am scrambling to find a new marketing partner for this season and beyond. The EFI update is going smoothly. Intake fuel rails are done and manifolds are topped with 2000 CFM throttle bodies. The biggest challenge here is wiring which in a marine environment is critical. The Holley Digital Dash panels seem extremely well built. The aluminum housings are sturdy, clearly these were designed to withstand extreme shock and vibration. Our fuel system is adequate to supply big power and copious amounts of 116, however we are adding

YOU’RE GOING BACKWARDS engine driven mechanical pumps to ensure our volume is sufficient with the revised fuel return plumbing. Essentially two electric pumps feed the mechanical pumps. We only use Weldon pumps. My thoughts are if the aviation industry trusts Weldon they’ll be reliable in my boat. Any one of you who’s had an engine “lean out” know that skimping on the fuel system could be disastrous and expensive!
The motors are receiving a major overhaul which includes replacement of all consumable components. Essentially the only parts re-used are the blocks, cranks, rods and cylinder heads! We have three engines in our arsenal one of which is a spare. It looks like we’ll debut at the “Lake Race” in Missouri 6/2. This event is 20 laps of individual drag races due to the calm water conditions but really abuses engines since they are

The police cars are on his rear bumper as Etch tries to avoid being pitted and lose control of his muscle car. He accelerates a little more by pressing on the gas pedal with a slight push from his black work boots. A moment later, he sees exactly what he is looking for; the freeway. The oil slick black GTO leans to the right and heads onto the on ramp with the two police cruisers in hot pursuit. Etch looks ahead of his point of entrance and watches for any highway traffic he may have to avoid as he exits the off ramp trying to escape
the two pursuing police vehicles close behind his classic muscle car. He sees a couple of big rigs and some approaching traffic but can’t slow down now. He needs to do some shifty driving in order to avoid any contact with those highway vehicles. Especially either one of those big rigs. That could spell disaster for himself and possibly some other innocent drivers who happen to be nearby when the Outlaw GTO merges onto the highway. Etch glances back into his side view and rear view mirrors and still sees those two police vehicles in

hot pursuit. “They are not going to go away easy,” said, Etch under his breath. Etch mats the gas pedal and sees those two big rigs closing in on his merge point of access to the highway and cranks up his stereo. “If this is how this ends, I’m going out loud!”

Jason credits the car’s current appearance and brilliant shine to his father Bob Pjojian, who shared many of his detailing secrets. Event promoter Tyler Crossnoe’s famous Outlaw Street Car Reunion annual event was another successful one this year due to good planning, proper execution and a LOT of hard work. The race, held April 19, 20, and 21, 2018, at Beech Bend Raceway, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, was a success. This in spite of its move to a new venue from its former home at Memphis International Raceway. Any fears by anyone about “will the racers and fans follow the event were quelled by the size of the full fields in all classes, plus half-packed stands on race day. Clearly the race was a success with both racers and fans alike. This achievement is impressive considering the weather was tough with temps dipping down to near freezing each night and a high of only about 60 during daylight hours. Now add to the mix a forecast of a likely rain-out for Sunday and you get the complete weather picture. Most people will agree, the weather was almost winter like, as OSCR-V in 2018 unfolded. Fortunately for all concerned, the promoter, track staff, fans and racers; were all up to the task. Historic Beech Bend track owner Dallas Jones and his team had the “All hands on deck” attitude all weekend. They made sure Tyler Crossnoe and his team had everything they needed to put on a big event. Kurt Johnson of Total Venue Concepts was on hand with Tyler to assure a hard hooking racing surface, which was indeed the case as their track prep was spot-on. Event announcer Evan Bader came in from Norwalk, Ohio to call the race. He did a stellar job on the microphone, keeping

the fans entertained and the racers up-to-snuff on lane calls. His excitement level when calling the action on the Pro Street motorcycle racing was excellent. Without a doubt, the best move of the weekend was event promoter Tyler Crossnoe’s ballsy announcement on Wednesday, April 18th that the whole race would be concluded by Saturday night, due to a foul weather forecast for Sunday/ Monday. So at near noontime on Wednesday Tyler announces the whole race will be run Thursday, Friday and Saturday; to get in the full event. Had he not chosen to do this, the rains that did indeed show up by noon Sunday would have washed out the remainder of the race. Who dares; wins. Any drag race with several hundred racing machines in attendance will have delays including a certain amount of leakage and clean up, that’s to be expected. During OSCR-V there was close to 7 hours of racing delays due to oil-spills. With Tyler and Kurt heading up the clean-up: together they had to employ over 35 bags of oil-dry and used up over 170 gallons of soap for the little Zamboni like scrubber, to clean up the spills. In addition to this, proper track prep required they deployment of 7 drums of VP-7 traction compound applied to the track surface, over the course of the entire event. Thankfully the racing mishaps did not result in loss of life. With a weather front coming in, the racers picked up the pace, showed up in force and answered lane calls very promptly. The Radial Vs World class had 18 entries show up, Keith Haney’s Mid-Western Pro Mod Series was 32 cars strong, Limited Drag Radial had 34 entries on the property and Pro Street motorcycle was strong with 27 drag bikes ready to race. It was clear these racers were ready to give it heck. The fans were really fan-tastic at this event. Despite Thursday and Friday being prime racing days that fell during the work-week, fans still braved the falling temps at night, blankets and all, they hit the stands to see the wheel standing, sideway’s action that comes with high-horsepower wild cars and motorcycles. On Saturday, by 10AM, the crowd was building at a quick pace and by noon the place was mighty busy with the amount of spectators one would expect to see at any major event. It was really quite busy throughout the daylight hours. With eleven classes of competition and a ton of cars, it was plain to see the race day would run until midnight, which it did, with the last runs of this event actually happening just after midnight. The Mid-Western Pro Mod series started off the big show after a moving invocation by Chaplain Scottie Wilson. The Mid-Western Pro Mod Series is a Pro/Mod fest put on by Keith Haney and his associates to augment any existing big show, like a “Night of Fire.” Any competent racing facility can book in the MWPMS cars and Ba Da Bing; instant wild Pro Mod cars that perform on time, run 3.80’s in the eighth mile and deliver a high degree of professionalism. The bottom line is any track can book in a rock solid show and put fans in the stands by having the MWPMS as part of their

racing program.
The 32 Pro Mods entered for this event equated to a pair of 16 car fields of competition. The low 16 qualifiers competed in the actual “Pro Mod” portion of race. Then as a consolation, the DNQ’s plus any 1st round losers were worked into an ad-hoc “Super Slammer” class. This gave the fans more Pro Mod cars to see and more thrills. During the Pro Mod racing action, Jerry Hunt, of St. Louis MO and Jonas Alshire made their way through the ladder to meet up in the final round of P/M. Jerry’s .044 RT to Jonas Alshire’s .340 was all she wrote when the tree went green. Jerry’s 3.801 was more than enough to cover his opposition’s 4.31, as Jerry and his team made their way to the winner’s circle. During the Super Slammer Shootout portion of the show, Tommy Cunningham of Murray, KY defeated Jim Sackuvich, 3.875 to 7.726. The stellar Radial Vs World cars did not disappoint with their showing. Low qualifier Daniel Pharris (3.715) and top speed demon Mark Micke (221.20mph), assured fans their monies worth. Pharris battled his way to the final round to meet

Driver Daniel Pharris, for Andrew Alepa Racing, cut a .058 RT to Jeff ’s .073 effort and down track, some 660’ later it was Pharris crossing the finish line first with a 3.730 elapsed time to Jeff ’s 3.745, for the win in RvW. In the Limited Drag Radial class of racing, Justin Martin of Pocola, OK was the #1 qualifier with a 4.11 elapsed time out of his 72 Nova that had everyone buzzing. But there was a bigger buzz at the track over the Lexus bodied, Proline Powered machine driven by Daniel Pharris. The machine, recently purchased from Ekanoo Racing (Ebrahim Kanoo) in Bahrain, was known to be headed for LDR and it was the terror racers feared it might be. This was the first event in the USA for the sanitary, beautiful race car and it performed as spectacular as it looks. With Pharris driving, they qualified the car in the number two spot with a 4.12 and then just sliced through the opposition like a scythe through a wheat field to match up with Shane Stack in the final round. Stack got out first with a .057 RT to Daniel’s .076 light, then 660’ later it was Pharris first to the stripe, with a 4.11 @ 189.02 whomping run to the 4.37 @ 159 troubled run of Stack. Lim-

but the growing popularity of No Time racing is undeniable. It has its own flavor to be sure, but it is a palatable one and you will not see fans heading to the concession stands when the No Time cars come to the starting line.
For the second year in a row the Pro Street motorcycles showed up to race at the Outlaw Street Car Reunion. 27 drag bikes arrived to do battle and wow the fans in the process. Both the car racers and the fans appreciate these exotic, powerful drag bikes. They generate over 600HP and routinely cover 1320’ of race track with six second elapsed times at speeds in excess of over 200 MPH.
Just because N/T cars have no numbers on the score boards to oogle does not mean they are not exciting. The mystery of what they can really run is part of the mystique that is No Time racing. That and the fact that N/t racing is pure drag racing: first to the finish line wins, if you snooze, you lose! The final round of the Xtreme 28” No Time Shoot out came down to veteran Bill Lutz Vs Jay Trisel for all the cash. Bill Lutz, of Ohio, was first to the stripe for the win, and received the $10,000 dollar payout.
The #1 qualifier in Pro Street motorcycle was Frankie Stotz of Schaumburg, IL, who stopped the clocks at Beech Bend Raceway with an excellent 6.75 @ 201.52 MPH to give him lane choice going into round one of eliminations. Frankie had a single in E-1 as his opponent, Michael Daddio, broke during qualifying. Frankie then took his potent Honda on to beat Sydney Marshall, veteran Doug Gall and the colorful Devin Ragland, to advance to the final round. There he met up with ManCup Pro Street champion Jeremy Teasley of the fearful team DME. Late Saturday night at close to midnight, when the starting line tree flickered green, Frankie was out first with .083 RT to Jeremy’s .099 light – then the charge was on to the big end. At the finish line, Frankie’s 6.72 was more than enough for Jeremey’s off-pace 7.44. During the elimination rounds the Stotz Racing Honda produced, 6.69, 672, 6.71 and 6.70 elapsed times, while mowing down opponents in the other lane. That’s a bad, bad motorcycle! In X-275 action, Ron Rhodes of Townsend, Delaware, in his 68 Camaro was the #1 qualifier with a 4.38 elapsed time and Rich Bruder of Edison, NJ had the high MPH for the class with a 171.MPH clocking. During eliminations, it was Jimmy White and Shane Fisher who matched up in the finals. Most every heavy hitter one could hope to see in X-275 was in the house for the event with 38 cars entered. When the smoke cleared late Saturday night, it was Jimmy White taking the win over a broken Shane Fisher, and Jimmy took the tree for the win. Ultra Street class action saw Brian Keep, of Ft. Myers FL, run the table and own the place lock-stock and barrel. He qualified #1 with a record setting 4.67 elapsed time, then marched through the field to meet Ron Belcher in the final round. There he put Belcher away with a 4.72 elapsed time to Ron’s 4.94 effort. Joel Greathouse of Oakland KY gets an A for effort in U/St. for having top speed of the meet with a solid 155.60 MPH run. The always interesting MX-235 class at this year’s OSCR-V event was stellar with low qualifier going to Brad Medlock of AR with a 4.60 flat number. Interestingly enough, Brad waded through the entire field of competition to meet up with George Raygoza in the last round of MX-235. Raygoza, who came all the way from California to mix it up with the big dogs, came down off the porch and outran Medlock for the win, 4.65 to 5.11 respectively.
The Index cars racing at this year’s OSCR-V event raced in two classes, 7.0 and 6.0 as a fixed number. The winners included Vince Damsow over Johnny O’Daniel, Robert Rogers (w) Tyler Huckaby (R/U), and also Spencer Smith over Lance Pharr and Terry Tarranof defeating Wendell Cine.

ROB MAY Early examples of the MN12 Ford/Mercury platform continued with the 1991 Thunderbird and Cougar. Gary and Anita Nevills, from Staunton, Virginia, own this ’91 Cat along with five other small furry versions. While looking for a Mustang, a car lot had this Mercury Cougar XR-7. Gary remembered the bodystyle when it came out new and loved it, so he bought it with 137000 miles. Sadly, he didn’t have the car 2 weeks and the transmission went out. Ugh. First thing he did to modify the car (after repairing the transmission) was to add a set of flow master mufflers, then some rims, Bilstein struts, and an Eibach spring pro kit dropped it down a bit. When the oil pump went out, it was time to do the motor. Thanks to Prim Performance for the short block, 30 over heads from Pro Comp Dist, and intake with 76 mm throttle body from Blue Oval Ind. The 302 HO no sports a trick flow cam, full roller 499/512 lift pro comp heads at 190cc with a set of Mac long tube headers, all MSD ignition, and a cold mass air Typhoon intake system. Motor was put together with ARP studs /bolts paired with under drive pulleys and an aluminum radiator. At the rear is a set of 3.7 gears, while the computer has a jet performance chip.

By HENRY CAPOTOSTO As a young boy interested in everything cars it was just a short trip from my home in Pawtucket, RI to Seekonk Speedway. Luckily my dad or my best friend Bob’s dad would take us regularly to watch Bugsy Stevens, Deke Astle Sr. and other heroes of the day duke it out on the track and sometimes in the pits. In the meantime, it was all about building model cars, racing slot cars and reading car magazines. We just couldn’t get enough. Somewhere along the line in the mid-60’s my dad took us to what was then the “New Thompson Raceway” in Thompson, CT. WOW, sports car racing was a whole new dimension. Corvettes, Austin Healey’s, MG’s, Jaguars. The ultimate was always the A Production race featuring a Ferrari 250 GTO driven by Mike Gammino from Providence and a 427 Shelby Cobra driven by Hal Keck from Pennsylvania. These two cars had epic duals with the Cobra out accelerating the Ferrari and the Ferrari out handling the Cobra. I fell in love with both cars and vowed that if I could ever afford a Cobra I would own one. At the time there was a 427 Cobra right there in the middle of the showroom floor at Tasca Ford in East Providence. Bright red with white stripes and with a sticker price of $7,500! Way too much for a young teenager to conceive of spending. I wanted in on the sports car action somehow and contacted the SCCA about becoming a corner marshal at the races. Alas, I was not 21 years old. Jump ahead some 30 years to the late nineties and I discovered there were some high-quality Cobra replicas available. The search was on to find my dream car. After researching over 30 Cobras from Laconia, NH to Orange, CA, I ultimately discovered my Cobra in Massachusetts. The rolling chassis was from Shell Valley Cobra located in North Platte, NE. The body mold for this car was taken from an actual 427 Cobra, so the shape of the body is true to the real thing. The original owner had installed a Ford 428 FE. The engine itself is equipped with a Holley dual pump carburetor, Edelbrock aluminum intake and aluminum heads, Crane medium lift camshaft, forged piston rods and a Wilwood scatter shield. The driveline includes a Ford 4-speed top-loader transmission, Salisbury 3.54 independent rear suspension featuring inboard brakes, and pin drive wheels with 3-lug knock off retainers. All this power is riding on BF Goodrich Euro TA’s, 235/50/15 R’s up front and 305/50/15 R’s at the rear. Overall, a stout combination to be sure. Several years ago, the engine was removed from the car. Working along with a friend who knows the Ford FE engine, a rebuild was completed with all new piston rings, cam shaft bearings and lower end bearings, installation of Harland Sharp roller rockers, custom made Smith’s Brother’s push rods and Centerforce racing clutch. At that time R&R Machine installed the cam bearings and resurfaced the flywheel. More recently the Cobra has been upgraded by Conti’s Service with improvements to the electrical, braking and steering and suspension systems. Truly a joy to own and drive! And one last dream come true. In 2016 I started work as a corner marshal at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on their new 1.7-mile road course. Two boyhood items checked off my bucket list.

A Wheel is a Wheel

One of the recurring events in the automotive af-
termarket retail world is the customer who comes through the door because he/she just bought a set of used wheels on Craigslist or eBay or… (sub-

stitute your favorite used parts on-line classified website here). Problem is, they don’t fit and the customer wants help figuring out what they need to do to make them work. There are several factors that determine whether a wheel will fit a particular vehicle and they all must work together. They are:
Bolt pattern – the number of holes in the wheel that the wheel studs come through and the distance between them. Typical bolt patterns can be found here: http://www.crawlpedia.com/bolt_patterns.htm Wheels that have the wrong bolt pattern can still be mounted but it requires a wheel adapter. These are often expensive and people end up spending more than expected just to save their “good” used wheel deal. Depending on

the difference between wheel and vehicle bolt patterns, there can be cases where no adapter is available for that combination and the customer has no option but to try to resell their now-useless wheels. Also, the wrong wheel adapter style for the vehicle can result in a wheel coming off while driving. Bore Size – the size (in millimeters) of the hole in the center of the wheel. This hole should be as close as possible to the hub size of the vehicle on which the wheel will be mounted without being smaller. If the bore size is close, a small adapter known as a hub-centric ring will fill the space between the wheel bore size and the vehicle hub size. Too much difference, however, and there will not be a ring large enough to allow safe mounting of the wheel. Offset – this is the point between the outside and inside edge of the wheel where the mounting surface of the wheel is located. If the mounting surface is exactly halfway, the wheel is considered to have zero offset. If the mounting surface is closer to the inside edge than outside, the wheel has negative offset and the wheel is, in effect, pushed out toward the wheel opening in the fender. If the mounting surface is closer to the outside edge, the wheel is considered to have positive offset and the effect is to pull the wheel deeper inside the wheel well.

Backspacing – this is a term that is often used interchangeably with offset but it is not exactly the same. Backspacing is the distance from the inside edge of the wheel to the mounting surface. To translate backspacing into offset, you have to know the width of the wheel. It’s generally better and safer to focus on offset so you know how the wheel will be positioned in the wheel well. Most vehicles come from the factory with positive offset wheels. The entire wheel fits completely inside the wheel well and still has sufficient clearance of stock suspension components. However, when the vehicle is lifted, the angle on some of the suspension components can change, bringing them into contact with the
el, Right? Well, No. wheel. That’s why lifted vehicles usually need a more negative offset so the wheel is pushed out and away from the suspension. A stock 2017 Jeep Wrangler (JK), for example, comes from the factory with a positive 45mm offset. An aftermarket wheel, on the other hand, may have a positive offset of 18mm. That translates into a negative 27mm change in offset, pushing the wheel out to the edge of the wheel well or fender flare. The more the offset changes in a negative direction, the more the wheel is pushed out.

Wheel diameter – the distance across the wheel. Vehicles can often take larger diameter wheels than the factory designed them for, but usually not smaller (there are exceptions to this rule, especially when the same vehicle, with a lesser trim level, was built with smaller wheels). The issue here is brake clearance. The inside circle of the wheel must be large enough to not interfere with the movement of the brake calipers (disc brakes) or shoes (drum brakes). The bottom line, of course, is that wheels are not a generic component that can be readily moved from one vehicle to another. Take along some measuring tools when you go to look at wheels to ensure (as much as practically possible) that the wheels will fit your vehicle without requiring additional spend to make them work properly 3. If at all possible, do a test fit. Jack up your vehicle and mount the new wheel to make sure it fits properly. Turn it while observing clearance with suspension parts and position in the wheel well. Operate the brakes while turning it to see if there is any scraping or odd noises when the brakes are applied and then released. 4. Get a money-back guarantee that the wheels will fit your vehicle. If the seller won’t provide that, it’s probably for a reason.

The First Lady Nancy Lombardo inducted into the New England Hot Rod Hall of Fame
ED YESSAIAN They say that “behind every great man is an even greater woman”. And that quote could not hold more accuracy than it does when we are speaking about Nancy Lombardo who has been the foundation of success at New England Dragway for over FOUR DECADES!! Nancy has held literally every single position at the track including concession stands, time slip manager, and even track preparation. Nancy currently manages the administrative and broadcasting duties in the tower, occasionally being assisted by Motorhead Magazine’s Xander Anthony, who loves sitting with Nancy, enjoying a bird’s eye view of the racing
action. So obviously there couldn’t be a more deserving person to be inducted in the New England Hot Rod Hall of Fame during the Hall of Fame nationals on June 24th. With festivities starting at 11:30, we strongly suggest our readers join us to honor those that make our sport as enjoyable and rewarding as it has become. Remember, We Are All Motorheads MIKE GALLO Do you remember what turned you on to cars for the first time in your life? What was it? Maybe the
smell of race fuel? Did you witness a drag race at a track or a late night street race? How about seeing a car smoke the tires for the
first time? Or maybe just the sound of a radical cam idling at a light. Maybe you were born into a car enthusiast home……hmmmmmmm. Think about it. For Russel, it was hearing the rumble of his dad’s old 68 Camaro with a four speed. Him seeing his dad and friends race back in the day at the shipyard in Providence. Those times and memories forged a burning desire for Russel to own his own hot rod and do like his dad...race and have fun with something he loved. Fast forward twenty odd

years and after working his tail off, Russel fulfilled his dream and bought himself a 1968 Chevelle with a big block. Now hold on, what you see in this article is a product of hard work, sacrifice and nights... long nights of endless work. This car has been through many transformations, from its original green paint to primer to the beautiful paint that adorns it now.

Russel always loved the Yenko cars of his era and decided to build his own Yenko tribute Chevelle the way he saw fit. And this vision has paid off as it snaps necks in the looks department and the acceleration department as well. With a 496 c.i. motor, turbo 400 transmission, 4.10 gears, blacked out wheels and chin spoiler, this
car gets attention wherever it goes…and rightfully so. Russel ‘s car has great street manners but can get out of hand fast if you get into the throttle hard. This car has made enough power on the dyno to make it a mid ten second car at more than a respectable mile per hour. Fast and fun…you can’t ask for much more people. Russel set out to make a dream of his come true. He had many obstacles while building it, but he persevered. If you’re a car guy or girl, I’m sure you can relate. Now think about what turned you on to this life of cars and go out and fulfill your dream. Build what you like. Whether it be American muscle, a truck or an import, do what makes you happy. And when you sit in your drivers seat and fire up the motor, remember it’s yours and what you like. So be proud and remember, we are all Motorheads.

The colors are also elegant to look at and suitable for any outdoor environment. Also, they posses superb ability to resist rust and corrosion because they are made of high-quality weather resistant materials.

There is nothing quite as enjoying as cranking up the tunes on your marine stereo system while out cruising on your boat. But the higher quality the sound is the better you will enjoy it. Here are some great tips for shopping for marine waterproof speakers. Marine stereos allow you to enjoy your music regardless of the conditions. However, a marine stereo system will not be complete if there are no waterproof speakers. The enjoyment of listening to music on the water is made possible and enhanced by the quality of the speakers. Without them, all you can hear are blurry murmurs and vague voices. The point is, what’s the worth of spending money on a costly marine stereo when you do not pair it with an efficient speaker, right? The biggest problem with choosing Speakers for your boat is the environment. Salt, moisture, waves can quickly take its tole on a regular car stereo. In fact, with such a choice you would be wasting your money. You need marine electronics for such a touch job. Marine Speakers are easy to soot because they are rated as such. Once you have purchased the right equipment you will need to make sure it is properly installed to ensure you get the best sound possible. I have installed plenty of Marine Stereos and Speakers
in my career as an installer of such equipment. Waterproof auto speakers have paper cones, steel grilles and wires that are exposed making it a poor choice for the water. That is why you need to buy waterproof equipment specifically for marine, because you will want plasticote on the circuits so that they are protected from the moisture and will not corrode. You will want waterproof covers that seal, so that water cannot get in. They should be secure enough that you could hose them down and it would not damage them.
Remember, choose your location for installation wisely. Although they are labeled “waterproof” you cannot expect them to survive being completely submerged under water or having huge splashes soak them. Place them in somewhat protected location and arrange them in a direction that is directed toward your ears. Now that you’ve got your new marine speakers installed, sit back and enjoy your favorite tunes!

Today’s competitive economy demands efficiency of every organization. Evaluating your current capacities, strengths, and weaknesses can lead to creative ideas for improved operations in manufacturing processes, work-in-progress parts storage, maintenance and MRO supply storage, and order picking layouts. Sometimes those ideas will demand consolidation and reorganization of your storage or manufacturing facilities. If you have read any of our previous posts, you will know that we strongly recommend the use of Rousseau drawer cabinets or drawers in shelving systems for greater storage density, faster picking and easier inventory counts. However, although we know that more efficient storage systems have a
high return on investment, installing all new drawer storage products can be costly. So, you may want to consider purchasing used or factory surplus drawer storage equipment from a professional equipment deal-
er to keep your initial costs lower. Choosing used or factory surplus industrial drawers may be a good option for several reasons. First of all, if the exact equipment you need is available, then the lead time can be shorter and you can start your reorganization sooner. The cost will also be lower for used equipment; typically 25% to 40% less than the price of new equipment. One very lucky option would be to find used Rousseau brand modular drawers in good condition. The advantage of the Rousseau modular drawer system is that they are manufactured in true North American dimensions and are compatible for installation in most standard shelving sizes. You can purchase drawer adapter brackets for over 30 brands of shelving that will allow you to install the drawers in your existing shelving units. This can save up you to 50% of the cost of new drawers in shelving units by integrating the used drawers with your existing shelving system. However, there are some downsides to looking at the used drawer storage option. First and foremost, it is important to get a drawer system that is sized to fit your specific products. Most of the new drawer storage systems that are sold are designed with drawer sizes and heights to fit a specific storage application. It is not likely that you will find the exact sizes and quantities that will optimize your particular storage situation. A well-networked used equipment dealer may be able to locate the equipment you need, but it may have to come from other areas of the country where they happen to have more of that particular item. you may end up paying more for shipping charges than you anticipated. Or, since your exact specifications may not be immediately available in used equipment, you may need to be more flexible, and thus less efficient, than you would be with your preferred layout. You also need to be cautious with the age of the equipment. There is a lot of used equipment available that is very old, often from a company that has already upgraded to newer and more modern equipment. The drawers in question may already be worn and ready to be retired. Investing in equipment that is not in excellent condition may leave you with large repair and replacement costs going forward. There are many older models where parts are not even available. So, before you buy,
contact the original equipment manufacturer of the product to make sure you can get replacements components for that specific system. You also need to be prepared for different payment terms than are cus-
tomary for new equipment. Since used equipment dealers usually pay cash for the equipment they buy, they need to be paid sooner than a new dealer who receives terms from his suppliers. In conclusion, there are two key points that will help keep you safe when making a purchase of used modular drawer systems or components.

I have always loved writing about classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars and cool trucks since I started writing for Motörhead Magazine seven years ago. DMC Racing- From clear across the building I spotted Dennis MacPherson’s IROC-Z Camaro. With its “street appearing” stance and mind-blowing build, I am dying to check it out in greater detail when I eventually make my way to their facility where Dennis told me he has at least 30 high end full blown race car builds. Stay tuned for our trip to DMC where we’re hoping to check out one of the area’s most talked about builds, Dave Demarco’s Pro-Mod Camaro.
TAs a longtime member of the Motorhead Team, I routinely go to dozens of car shows and cruise nights per season and I truly enjoy every single one of them. I enjoy the cars but I also enjoy the stories behind them, which ultimately leads to the feature articles you guys enjoy here month after month. But when it comes to car shows, everyone knows there is simply nothing like Boston’s World of Wheels event which can only be described as the Super Bowl of all car shows. This year was no

Procision Industries- I was introduced to these guys by Nick Cincotti when I went to check out Cincotti’s Coyote swapped 1953 Ford F100 pickup that was recently completed by Procision. These guys are hands down the most amazing guys I’ve seen when it comes to engine swaps, custom
head magazine, Mike Forte is always a pleasure to see and converse with. Mike is without a doubt one of the area’s most knowledgeable automotive experts and is world famous for his transmission swap products which are designed, fabricated,

Aside from the F100 the guys from Procision had two C10 pickups that we will be stopping by to check out for a future issue. New England Dragway- Joe Lombardo had a full sized display featuring some of the area’s best known race cars and personalities. On hand was plenty of information for the 2018 season including schedules, featured events, and technical information. As always Joe reminded us that, “It’s going to be a great racing season”.
