southlake has issues
You may have already noticed from past letters and articles written that I’m a numbers guy. Long before thoughts of a magazine, my IBM thinkpads were filled with spreadsheets — and lots of them. My penchant for Microsoft Excel still exists, albeit from a multitude of Macbooks with files now stored in the cloud.
One such file called “issue counter” keeps a running tally of both Southlake Style and Dragon Pride issues, which now stands at 250. In Southlake-speak, this baby of ours born in 2006 could also be considered a kinder-grad.
No, Southlake Style doesn’t have a diploma, but as the only magazine written and published from within the confines of Carroll ISD, it has been on campus and in the community longer than any other. Being produced by Southlake for Southlake has always been a point of pride for us, and we aim for it to be a point of pride for you as well.
Over the course of no less than 20,000 pages, we’ve witnessed quite an evolution of this small town. The population boom that elevated us to 32,000 residents and 6A status also continues to make Southlake a regional draw for residents looking to be close to the best retail, dining and entertainment. So much so, a luxury rental community is currently being built within Southlake Town Square — a sign of change indeed.
However, the more things change, the more they stay the same. In this manner, you can count on us to continue to shine a positive light on the many diverse stories to be shared amongst this town full of so many growing interests.
Yours in Southlake Style
Mike

Treating Adolescents & Families In Southlake
Charis Program Specialist Discusses Family Therapy
What got you into therapy and counseling?
When I was a teenager, I struggled with many different mental health issues and didn’t know how to ask for help. After graduating college, I decided I wanted to be a voice for the children who didn’t feel seen, heard or valued.
As a parent to a struggling child, what are things you can do to be more mindful and active for their recovery? Children have HUGE feelings! One of the best things parents can do is create a safe space to let their child genuinely feel their emotions. If you’re looking for certain behaviors, model them within the household. Leading by example is a great place to start.
What does an initial consultation look like?
The initial assessment begins with our amazing receptionist. Families will come into the conference room and talk with myself and our compassionate nurse. We will then conduct an in-depth assessment, give the family a tour of the facility and explain all of our accommodating services.
What kind of kids do you tend to see succeeding more?
The kids who often succeed the most are the ones who have decided internally that they want to see change for themselves. The biggest factors for transformation are a trusting relationship with their therapist and a willingness to want to change.
How do you prefer to conduct your therapy sessions with both groups and individuals?
I personally like to keep all of my sessions filled with laughter and joy. Group, family, individual and parent coaching are all led through an interactive style with accountability and positive reinforcement. I show unconditional love and care through grace, kindness and providing a safe space for children to show up authentically as themselves.

Amy Winehouse lives on in this biopic depicting everything from her early days as a jazz musician to winning a Grammy and her tragic death in 2011. While the film’s lead Marisa Abela isn’t a household name, she did score a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo as Teen Talk Barbie in last year’s Oscar-winning film.

FINDING PURPOSE AND A PEACEFUL PATH FORWARD
Varghese Summersett Are Southlake Divorce Attorneys Who Understand
When Southlake divorce attorney Nicole Carroll tells clients she understands what they're going through, she's speaking from personal experience. Six years ago, Nicole was in the middle of a contentious divorce with her husband of 13 years when he passed away unexpectedly.
"It was a tragic end to my marriage, one that I never could have foreseen," she says. "Regardless of our differences, he was the father of my children.”
The experience transformed her, deepening her empathy and understanding of her clients' unique situations.
"I don't think there is any issue that someone can come to me with that I have not personally experienced or seen in my 26 years of practicing law," she says. "I use my experience to help others. It is my purpose."
Her personal experience later drew Nicole to work at Varghese Summersett’s new Southlake location, where clients are afforded the rare opportunity to navigate the dissolution of their marriage in peace.
“We chose this location, tucked away from Southlake Town Square, to give our clients the journey of their choosing — the security of privacy or the splash of publicity,” says managing partner Benson Varghese. “Our team is always busy protecting what matters most — our clients' names and reputations.”
Today, Nicole serves as senior counsel and leads the division with her partner Wade Griffin Jr., who has been practicing family law for more than 25 years. Shortly after he got out of the Navy in 1994, Wade went through his own legal battle in which he was awarded custody of his two sons.
"I know my experiences in and out of the courtroom give me an understanding that most attorneys don’t have," he says. "I'm able to relate to my clients in a very real way.”
Nicole, Wade and their legal team provide the highest-caliber legal representation in a supportive, understanding environment. They have extensive experience in family law matters unique to this community — high net-worth divorce, complex asset division and sensitive child custody matters.
Varghese Summersett also has personal injury and criminal defense divisions, each with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal professionals committed to delivering exceptional results with a transformative client journey.
"In every case, in every heartache, I see not just a client but a reflection of my own journey," Nicole said. "It's a connection that goes beyond legal advice — it's about sharing strength, understanding and hope. Even in our darkest days, we can find purpose and a path forward."

CARROLL SOPHOMORES WIN GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARDS
Two Southlake Carroll students received one of the Girl Scouts’ highest distinctions last month. Earlier this spring, sophomore Zania Karim and senior Miranda Downs started community service projects in pursuit of their gold award, which is given to fewer than 6% of Girl Scouts. Zania advocated for mental health, while Miranda’s focus was on animal enrichment. Both were honored alongside 14 other recipients during the Girl Scouts’ Gold Awards on April 13. “What Gold Award Girl Scouts do best is tackle issues that are important to them to drive meaningful and lasting change in their communities and beyond,” Girl Scouts CEO Bonnie Barczykowski says. “I know that this is just the beginning for them. They’re the changemakers the world needs more than ever right now.”
NEW K-9 JOINS SOUTHLAKE POLICE
Southlake gave a warm welcome to its newest K-9 recruit last month. After Duco retired last year, the Southlake Police Department needed a new K-9 to go out into the field with officer Nate Anderson. The city ended up recruiting Zeusz, a 2-year-old German shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix who was born in Hungary. “Within his short career, he has already apprehended two felons and assisted with numerous neighboring agencies’ investigations,” officer Nate says. “He’s also deployed with the North Tarrant Regional SWAT team as one of its newest members.”

The council sold T-shirts and hosted several 3v3 tournaments throughout the month, raising over $4,717 for their recipient. “What makes Make-A-Wish special is that it puts a face and a name to a child,” sponsor Lindsey Jacobson says. “That makes it so much more meaningful and personable for our kids. He previously donated 37 acres of land that eventually became part of Bob Jones Park. He was also named Citizen of the Year by the Southlake Chamber in 2016 and helped create and fund what would eventually become the Apex Arts League.

Outdoor Dynamics Creates Custom Luxury Spaces
Outdoor Dynamics was established with one fundamental purpose — to build the best luxury outdoor spaces for families to reimagine their daily lives. Founded by Tyler McClure in 2018, Outdoor Dynamics is a full-service outdoor living design and build firm committed to transforming how your family lives outside.
“We excel in creating the entire outdoor environment," Tyler says. “We don't just build pools, outdoor living spaces or landscapes — we design and construct the complete outdoor living experience.”
Every project starts with an initial consultation to learn the client's goals, style, entertaining habits and the site's assets, features and challenges. Once the vision has been established, Tyler and his team design the space using the latest 3D modeling tools to

provide the conceptual vision of the completed space before breaking ground. Once the client approves the design, construction starts on the new outdoor space.
“Our goal is to make this process as exciting, delightful and fun as possible for the client,” Tyler says. “We tend to create the best product when the client allows us to oversee and develop the entire scope, not just a portion of the project.”
Exceeding customers' expectations is at the very heart of Outdoor Dynamics. Every project is customized to fit the client's individual needs, and the work is not limited to pools, outdoor living or landscapes.
“We build tailored expansive patio additions, guest houses, home gyms and more,” Tyler says. “It's all about how our clients will use their space — how their family will be able to enjoy it for many years.”

Making Themselves At Home
SOUTHLAKE'S OWN
PROPERTY SISTERS
DESIGN & CONSTRUCT
AUTHENTIC SPACES
BY DAVID DUNN WITH PHOTOS BY EMILLE PRADO AND ASHLEY MONOGUE
Sarah Lambert knows firsthand just how much planning and effort goes into a home remodeling project. Between measuring the room, designing the new look, selecting the furnishings, budgeting, scheduling and executing the final vision, Sarah understands that projects can take anywhere from four to five months. Together with her younger sister, Katie, they do it all through their full-service interior design and construction firm, Lambert Home.
Established in 2015, Lambert Home is Sarah and Katie’s shared vision of creating customized spaces for homeowners from their studio in Southlake. During their eight-and-a-half years in business, they’ve worked in every space big and small, from bathrooms and kitchens to backyards and bedrooms. Between their work on-site at clients’ homes and the wealth of furnishing and design options offered at their shop, these property sisters are making both their dreams and those of their clients a reality.
BUILDING BLOCKS
For as long as she could remember, Sarah knew she was born to be an interior designer. When she was just a toddler, her father Don noticed she had a keen eye for decoration through the same toys every girl was enjoying at her age — Barbie dolls.
“By the time she was 3, Sarah was designing stuff, picking colors and setting up Barbie’s home,” Don says. “She was building a Barbie condo. Everyone else had a shoebox.”
Sarah continued playing interior designer in the years to come. When Katie came into the picture, she joined in on the fun, taking on the role of office secretary — a part in which she committed just as much as her sister.
“When we were children, I would go up to her and say ‘This is your schedule today ma’am,’ Katie recalls fondly. “And she would respond, ‘How dare you come into my office!’ I was like ‘Chill out, I’m just trying to play with you!’”
While their early designing days were all in good fun, Sarah began to take her creative interests more seriously in elementary school.
“When I was in third grade, I asked my dad, ‘Can girls do construction?’ And he said ‘Yeah, girls can do anything they want to,’” Sarah says. “When he told me that, I knew that’s what I wanted to do from day one.”
From there, the girls completed their education at Keller ISD before moving on to study at Texas Tech University. Their fields of study reflected their childhood interests, with Sarah studying interior design while Katie’s focus turned to restaurant and hotel management.
“We would say to each other ‘One day when we grow up, we’re going to work together,’” Sarah says. “How fun would that be?”
MAY 24 • 33
her own business, but first she realized the need to distin guish herself in the field. So she set her sights on becoming certified with the National Council for Interior Design Qualification.
“It’s extremely difficult and extremely rare to pass,” Sarah says. “The fail rate is 78%. You have to literally memorize every fire code, every ADA code, how far outlets should be from other things — everything.”
Despite the odds, Sarah passed the exam and became one of nearly 1,400 NCIDQ-certified interior designers in the state of Texas, becoming one step closer to owning her own studio.
A FAMILY EFFORT
While Sarah was well-versed in design aesthetics, trends and building codes, there was one important area she was lacking, and that was business management.
“Billing, shipping, tracking, invoicing — I hated all of it,” Sarah says. “I knew I had to do it, but it wasn’t the fun part. It wasn’t what I wanted to do.”
Luckily, she knew Katie excelled in all of the areas in which she struggled. Recruiting her to handle the operations side of the business seemed like a no-brainer.
“I don’t have a design bone in my body, but I’m good at everything on the business side, whether it involves scheduling, planning or purchasing,” Katie says. “The things that Sarah doesn’t excel at are the things I do excel at. We’re good partners in that way.”
As budding entrepreneurs, the mid-20s duo started applying for business loans in 2014. While they were repeatedly turned down primarily due to lack of capital, one local bank saw their potential and approved them for a $65,000 loan. The pair was as excited as they were nervous.
“We basically threw up in the parking lot as we left the bank,” Sarah recalls. “It scared us. If this didn’t work, we’d be going to the grave with a $65,000 debt.”
The freshly-anointed businesswomen once again found confidence from the same place they did as children — their father.
“I reminded them both that failure is not fatal,” Don says. “Failure is how you learn. Failure is how you grow. I didn’t want them to be 40 years old, looking back and saying ‘I wish I had done this,’ or ‘I wish I had done that.’ Neither one of them was married, had no kids and no mortgage — nothing [was] stopping them from throwing themselves at their own business. So that’s what they did.”
While Lambert Home was initially launched exclusively as an interior design firm, they realized the need to branch out after repeatedly running into issues during the construction phases of their projects.
“There was one project where we handed it off to the contractor, and he kept saying ‘We can’t do that, we can’t do that, we can’t do that,’ and I just knew that wasn’t the case,” Sarah says.
Knowing their father had a lucrative career in construction, they enlisted his help to handle the project management side of the business.
“We asked him if he wanted to come and do this with
“We were committed to this dream,” Katie says. “I kept saying ‘If we make it past year one, we’re going to be OK. If we make it past year three, we’re going to be OK.’ All of a sudden, we made it to year five, and I’m like ‘Oh my God, we’re thriving!’”
Today, Katie is happily married with a 3-year-old daughter, and Sarah’s heart is full with four adopted children of her own. When motherhood isn’t keeping them busy, they’re working at their 2,500-square-foot storefront that appropriately reflects the sisters’ personalities. One side comprises all of the chairs, sofas, rugs, pillows and furnishing options of Sarah’s world, while the other side makes up Katie and her staff’s administrative offices. Furnished and functional, the office also includes a miniature conference room where the sisters still get to play the roles of their youth.
“I’ll show [clients] their presentation on the TV and go over their fabrics, tiles and materials,” Sarah explains. “We’ll have answers for timing, shipping, pricing and scheduling. It’s all there.”
But the shop is only one aspect of Lambert Home’s approach to interior design. Katie says what sets them apart is their intuitive service and personalized attention towards every client.
“Sarah’s spiritual gift is understanding people’s aesthetic without really ever needing them to say anything,” Katie expresses. “She has this unique ability to look at what they’re wearing and understand their lifestyle, and she immediately understands their aesthetic. She doesn’t have to look at their Pinterest page. She’s really incredible like that.”
For Sarah, her biggest challenge dealt less with the space she was working in and more to do with quelling clients’ concerns.
“Your home is a very personal space, as it should be,” Sarah expresses. “There’s all these feelings tied in of ‘What if you spend all my money? What if you don’t take
care of me? What if you don’t respect who I am?’ That’s always the biggest hurdle, coming through and saying ‘I got you. I hear you. I’m going to get you where you want to go — not where I want you to go.’”
That selfless approach is reflected in her designs as well. While many interior designers want to make a statement with their pieces, Sarah wants all of the “statements” to come from the client — almost as if she’s removed from the design entirely.
“I see a lot of interior designers have a trademark fabric or a trademark lamp, trademark this and trademark that,” she says. “Your home isn’t about me. Your home is about you. It’s where you’re going to create your life, where you’re going to host your family and friends, where you’re going to create your heritage — your destiny. I’m in and out. You’re here forever. I want it to look like you.”
In fact, the words “authentic spaces” are the first thing clients notice when they walk up to their store. Prominently displayed next to their name and logo, the words prioritize authenticity above everything else. What else would you expect from two successful sisters living their childhood dream?
Their dream has taken on even more exciting milestones for the future. For their 10-year anniversary in 2025, they plan to unveil a new 12,000-square-foot showroom. Nearly five times the size of their current space, it will include even more furnishing options and an accompanying cafe called The Greenhouse where customers can enjoy light bites, coffee and cocktails while planning their renovations.
Always the proud father, Don will tell you Lambert Home isn’t about the space they’re in — it’s about the people they work with, and he’s overcome with emotion as he sees his daughters grow from Barbie houses to dream houses.
“They care so much about what they do and delivering the best experience possible, regardless of the size or the budget,” Don says. “Everything they do is authentic and real not only to their clients, but to each other.”

Modern aesthetics may have been dominating the Southlake market, but few homes exude luxury and elegance quite like this new build at 170 Sweet Street. Completing construction in March, this $4,750,000 modern estate has everything you desire across 7,684 square feet and a one-acre lot. With sleek finishes and meticulous attention to detail, homebuyers would be hard-pressed to find a home with more to offer in both design and room to customize.
LET THE LIGHT IN
Bright rooms equal brighter days, and this house’s large, expansive windows breathe natural light into every corner. Natural woodwork and stucco tiling blends harmoniously to adorn the home with organic accents, while polished marble finishes throughout provide a glimmering sheen that compliments the overall aesthetic. With panoramic views and a striking state-of-the-art design, it isn’t hard to see why this exquisite dwelling feels so bright, airy and free.
BATH & BEYOND
This home implements many amazing designs, both functional and aesthetic. Many will enjoy not one, but two primary bedroom suites that provide even more versatility for family and guests. The double vanity bathroom creates space and privacy for couples' daily rituals, while the expertly crafted, multi-leveled flooring catches both water and the eye. For those looking to unwind, an immaculate freestanding bathtub enjoys sweeping views of the expansive backyard.
HAVE IT YOUR WAY
With over an acre of land, the backyard is an open canvas. In fact, the lucky home buyer will enjoy a healthy pool allowance that is included in the listing price to customize the space as their heart desires. Create your own outdoor oasis complete with a kitchen and seating areas. For active families, a putting green or perhaps a pickleball court could be installed to practice your swing. However you wish to customize this wonderful estate, the best part is that you get to call it yours.

Southlake Sisters And Filmmakers On Their First Indie Movie
Hannah and Psalms Wimbrey loved growing up in Southlake. It was a love that only grew deeper after the sisters enrolled in a performing arts school within walking distance from their house. It was there that the duo who loved performing for family and friends began to focus on their passion for the arts. Today, these inspiring young ladies are charting their own course as executive producers at Three60Films, the Southlake-based production company they co-founded with their family in 2022. With their first film having already gained critical acclaim, this dynamic duo continues to hone their skills and share compelling stories on the big screen.
HANNAH: WE HAVE ALWAYS LOVED… entertaining those around us. When we were young, we performed plays for the family every holiday in our living room. Once I experienced what it felt like to bring joy and laughter to a room, I knew that was what I wanted to continue to do. Later on, Psalms really got the acting bug after her first theater performance when she was 14.
PSALMS: I MAY BE THE OLDER SISTER, BUT HONESTLY… she acts like the older sister. She is more organized than me, so she helps me get my creative thoughts together. We balance each other out, and you could say she’s my best friend.
HANNAH: SHARING THE SAME PASSION AS MY SISTER IS… an absolute blessing. It makes me love what I am doing even more to be doing it with the one I love. I am great at talking, and Psalms is great at writing. We figured out how to use these skills to our advantage.
PSALMS: AFTER EIGHT YEARS IN THE ACTING INDUSTRY… I have learned there will be more noes than yeses. Creating our own production company has allowed us to create our own ‘yeses.’ Through Three60Films, not only do I get to be in my own films, I also get to write scripts.
HANNAH: WE HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH… all of the cast and crew on the set of ‘Summer of Violence.’ Making a film is a team effort where everyone needs to be all hands on deck. Everyone worked so hard, and we cannot wait to show the finished project very soon.
PSALMS: AS YOUNG FEMALES FROM TEXAS… entering the world of Los Angeles was definitely something we have never experienced before. There were some days on set where things didn’t go as planned, but I like to believe the unplanned is God’s plan.
HANNAH: OUR JOURNEY WITH ‘SUMMER OF VIOLENCE’ HAS BEEN… incredible, especially the love we've received for the film. At the DTLA Film Festival, we received awards for "Best Picture" and "Best Audience,” along with receiving “Outstanding Narrative Feature” at the Tallgrass Film Festival. I will never forget being surrounded by so much love and support with a sold-out theater. We’re beyond grateful.
PSALMS: I WAS ECSTATIC OVER THE… Best Picture news, but even more so for Nicki Micheaux, the writer and director of the film. ‘Summer Of Violence’ is her story she wanted to share with the world, and seeing her hard work earn this award has inspired me to work even harder! We are aiming to have our film out this summer in selected theaters!
HANNAH: WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON… a documentary called 'My Brothers Keeper,' which is based on three brothers growing up underneath the same roof but having completely different paths in life.
PSALMS: I HAVE LEARNED THAT ACTING IS… a muscle that you must keep exercising, so I continue to attend acting classes and go on auditions from my agents and manager.
HANNAH: I HAVE LEARNED… so much through being hands-on in the entertainment business. I love working in our company with my family and brainstorming all these crazy fun ideas for future projects.
PSALMS: WE HAVE BEEN IN THE WRITER’S ROOM… brainstorming on our next projects. We’re working on some fun comedic films and even more full-circle stories to share. And I am currently working on my first acting book, so stay tuned!

tions for Maggie R&R in Fort Worth. While Wildwood Grill embodies a southern flair with an oak and hickory aesthetic and comfort classics such as chicken fried steak and cast iron mac ‘n’ cheese, Oak And Main aspires to be a more polished grill experience with emphasis on authentic flavors and ingredients.
“We call it Oak And Main because we’re on the corner of Oak and Main Street,” Dave says. “We want to be a place for people in the historical town of Roanoke and do what we can to enhance the city’s position as the unique dining capital of
The emphasis on community is immediately apparent with a spacious outdoor patio that is both family and pet-friendly. The interior boasts a bright and welcoming dining room with booth and table seating complete with modern chandelier fixtures, and guests can peruse through the bar’s 100-plus premium bottle selections at their leisure.
After being seated, the first thing guests will want to do is try one of their craft cocktails made in house, whether it’s the dry raspberry elderflower martini or the sweet basil bourbon bee. For a more cool and crisp spin on the traditional cocktail, the patio punches pack their own with flavors like tropical tango, ranch water and spicy fruit.
“Those patio punches are designed to be light, refreshing and fairly quick to put together,” Dave says. “It’s something people can sit outside and enjoy during beautiful weather to enhance their afternoon or evening.”
When it’s time to move on to the meal, Oak And Main has a wide assortment of savory starters to indulge in. The crispy smoked wings can be tossed in a rich raspberry bourbon glaze, while the smoked meatballs are prepared with a meticulous mixture of pesto, marinara and parmesan. Don’t miss out on ordering the prime queso blanco for the table, which includes a generous helping of smoked prime rib.
The Oak And Main courses keep up the pace with an emphasis on high-quality ingredients and all-natural cuisine. The barramundi is pan-seared and accented with a zesty lemon garlic butter, while the shrimp and scallop penne shine with its pepita pesto sauce. The wood-grilled salmon has a spicy and sweet kick with a sriracha honey glaze, and the lobster roll simply melts in your mouth with a buttery and salty sensation. Meat lovers will especially want to stop by on Sundays when the restaurant offers a 14-ounce prime rib special for $29.
“We feel like Oak & Main is trying to pull the best elements of all the things we’ve done up until now,” Dave says. “The food here is going to be just a little bit cleaner — a little bit lighter, but still centered around our wood-fired grill. We really made the most of an opportunity to play with new flavors for 2024.”
Be sure to save room for dessert, because the chocolate eruption explodes with a rich chocolate flair paired with a mixed berry garnish and sweet anglaze. The four-layer carrot cake is as fluffy as it is delicious with a delicate drizzle of caramel sauce. Even the brown sugar-glazed pears hit the sweet spot with a large scoop of ice cream.
“We’ve been waiting to do something on Oak Street for a long time,” Dave says. “We’re really excited and look forward to connecting with the community — seeing some of the people we know and greeting others that we haven’t had a chance to meet yet. We look forward to becoming a nice enhancement to Oak Street.”

One year ago, HG Sply Co. celebrated a decade of its commitment to quality and health-conscious dining. Renowned across Dallas, Fort Worth and Trophy Club for their signature approach to nutritious and flavorful meals, HG Sply Co. has now set its sights on their new ready-to-eat meal service — HG Packaged Goods.
Launching earlier in the spring, HG Packaged Goods is a testament to the restaurant's popularity and their growing number of health-conscious foodie followers. Touting meals like grilled chicken breast with honey garlic brussel sprouts and cilantro lime brown rice, HG Packaged Goods specially curated eight bowl options that promise convenience without compromising on taste or nutritional value. The menu goes on to include savory options like chicken thighs or grilled salmon paired with garlic green beans and mushroom quinoa pilaf. For a super protein-packed portion, shoppers can choose ground bison to go along with their orders.
Affordably priced between $9 and $13.50 each, these bowls are designed to be a part of any healthy eater’s diet.
Just like their restaurants, HG Packaged Goods is committed to freshness and quality. Each meal is plated in a 100% recyclable microwave-safe food container and vacuum-sealed to retain its freshness. This flexibility al lows customers to enjoy meals at their convenience, ensuring they always have a fresh and flavorful option on hand.
Ordering from HG Packaged Goods’ website is straightforward and user-friendly. With a minimum order of eight meals, customers in Texas, New Mexi co, Louisiana and Oklahoma are encouraged to order up to 12 or 24 meals to optimize shipping expenses, making it an ideal solution for busy households. Once the meals arrive, it’s as simple as heating them in the microwave for a quick, chef-prepared meal without the fuss of cooking.

Capital Grille Opens In Southlake
For nearly three years, the building at the intersection of Carroll Avenue and Highway 114 remained empty af ter Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles moved to Grapevine in 2021. But later this month, Southlake’s newest steak house since 2013's Del Frisco's Grille is opening its doors and introducing diners to its signature brand of gourmet dining.
“We see this as a great entry into Southlake,” says Keith Moore, Darden Restaurants real estate development director, during a city council presentation. “I think we’ve got the footprint right to make this fit for the brand.”
The spacious layout of the 10,815-square-foot restaurant was made possible by expanding into The Gents Place after the men’s salon moved a few doors down. The resulting design embodies all of the key characteristics of the multi-million-dollar franchise, from its African mahogany aesthetic to the elegant art deco chandeliers. Upon being seated inside the grand dining hall, sommeliers will guide you through their awardwinning wine list, which features over 350 of the finest selections from around the world. After raising a glass, sample one of its savory seafood starters like the panfried calamari with hot cherry peppers or the lobster mac ‘n’ cheese topped with Panko bread crumbs and five different cheeses.
Of course, The Capital Grille is most known for its locally sourced steaks, which are dry-aged for 18 to 24 days before getting carved by the restaurant’s in-house butcher. Whether it’s the 8-ounce filet mignon, the 18-ounce New York strip or the 22-ounce prime ribeye, every steak can either be served fresh to the table or taken to go to cook at home in one of the steak grille boxes. Don’t forget to save room for dessert, because the cheesecake is served brulee-style with a generous helping of fresh berries while the coconut cream pie is paired with house-made caramel sauce and a hint of rum.
Whether you soak up the posh, intimate setting or slice into a tender cut of beef, it’s no wonder why The Capital Grille is redefining fine dining in Southlake

SOUTHLAKE STYLE CELEBRATES APRIL ISSUE RELEASE
We loved celebrating Readers’ Choice 2024 during our issue release party last month! On April 11, a crowd of over 150 attendees came to Mercedes-Benz of Grapevine to enjoy fresh beverages, indulge in tasty hors d'oeuvres and marvel at over 500 winners and finalists featured inside the issue. Thank you to our event partners Avondale Dealerships, Top Shelf Tending, Feedstore BBQ, Pokeworks, Hop & Sting Brewing Co. and Event Art Co., and congratulations to all of our Readers’ Choice 2024 winners and finalists!
