ENVIRONMENT TYPE ENVIRONMENT PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE This was a logo I designed for a self developed photography magazine that I produced in response to the ISTD competition brief Environment Typography Environment. The Logo is formed to represent a SLR camera from the letterforms ‘E’, ‘T’ and ‘E’.

VIKING BEARD ALE A logo I designed to become the identity of a new self created brand of ale, that was to capture the essence of Viking drinking culture while also appealing to an 18 - 24 male target audience. I tried to design a logo that was inspired by Viking carvings and art work as well as incorporated the brand name initials and the link to Viking beards.

MARK WEBSTER PHOTOGRAPHY This was another response to a private competition brief set by Mark Webster, who was wanting a logo to brand himself and his photography. His name or initials would for the main visuals of the logo but I have tried to shape them in a way that represents some form of brochure or publication as this is an area of photography that Mark specialises in.

CUBAN BACARDS - BACARDI YCN STUDENT AWARDS

Cuban Bacards is my response to a competition brief set by Bacardi through the creative organisation YCN (Young Creative Network). The brief was to create a product / drink / campaign / advertisement that would appeal to a younger male audience between the ages of 18 and 24. Additionally you should in some way try and emphasize Bacardi’s Cuban roots in whatever your outcome may be. Cuban Bacards is my concept based response to Bacardi’s problem, I wanted to link whatever product I created as closely to Bacardi’s Cuban heritage as possible, so after considering what visual products are associated with Cuba or Cuban culture, I created a product based around a Bacardi Rum version of Cuban Cigars, accompanied with a mini Bacardi drink recipe booklet so the consumer could experiment with different Bacardi drink options. The intention of this product was to introduce the target audience to Bacardi whilst reconfirming it as a quality and versatile drink option next time they are purchasing at a bar or in store.

VIKING BEARD ALE BRANDING SELF DEVELOPED DEGREE BREIF

This was a six week brief set on my current degree, the brief was to pick a topic of your choice, research that topic heavily and create a range of products that focus around your chosen topic. As you can see i chose Vikings as my subject of choice, and developed my concept to a point where I was focusing more on Viking design, their drinking habits and their beards. I therefore decided to produce a product range around a new ale called Viking Beard Ale, I specifically directed this brief that way as I wanted to mainly focus on the branding, product and packaging and I thought this would be a great opportunity. The branding is aimed towards a young male audience between the age of 18 - 25. The concept of my visuals was mainly based around a modern take on viking design and carvings as well as clearly promoting the brand name and the link to Viking beards.

ENVIRONMENT TYPE ENVIRONMENT PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE ISTD COMPETITION BRIEF This was another competition brief that I completed this year. The brief itself was called ‘Environment Typography Environment’ and the aim was to produce both a printed and web response to Typography in the environment. Photography is a skill that I enjoy to utilize in both my design work and presentation of work. So I saw this as an opportunity to create a self branded photography magazine that focuses on photography of typography in the environment. This magazine was aimed towards young aspiring photographers and typographers who wanted to mix these two separate fields of design, the format of the magazine is a hand made, ring bound A3 magazine with each page perforated to allow the photographs to second as posters if people wished to use them that way. The concept behind this brief was to create a magazine that would be formed out of the entries from photographers, the winning entries of photography of type in the environment would create the content of each monthly issue. This was produced to inspire young photographers to input their work for a chance to be published in a magazine which results in the winners getting free promotion and free monthly inspiration for both photographers and typographers.

HOME Welcome to Environment Type Environment Magazines website, A publication focused on photography of type in the environment. Want your work published in next months issue? This is your chance to upload your own photography based around this theme. See if you can impress us with your creative view on typography in the environment. Get observing, get shooting, get uploading. Good luck and have fun.
