ABIDETHEREIN

Title: The Dislocated And The Sisyphean Project Format: Single Release Date: 2012 Genre: Black Metal Band: GoraalGuitars/ Bass/Vocals TyphonDrums/Guitars

Formed in 2010 in Damascus (Syria), the band is composed by two members: “Goraal”, who plays bass and guitar strings and vocals, and “Typhon”, with duties at drums and programming and also behind guitar. Their first album, “Paralysis Engulfed the Myth”, date back to January 2012. Here, I'm reviewing their new single, “The Dislocated And The Sisyphean Project”, which was made available online at the end of 2012. It's a long track, but the song structure is strong enough to shine through the more than 11 minutes of an abrasive black metal, that alternate between oriental atmosphere and skull crushing brutality. The first part of the song is characterized by a ferocious blast beat drumming, soon to be interrupted by some guitar riffs pretty “Nile” oriented. Around the halfway mark, the song becomes much more moody and moves at a slower pace with a thrashy staccato chords that segue into black style grooves and the melodic solo into which the song eventually collapses. In conclusion, “Abidetherein” has created a truly expressive piece of black metal track that feels both genuine and musicallyaccomplished.
