ENDING QUEST
The Summoning is the debut album of swedish Ending Quest. Like the band name is a tribute to Gorement's album The Ending Quest, this release is a tribute to swedish old school of death metal, with vibes that brings about some references to seminal bands such as Entombed and Dismember. The Summoning is a good example of pure足grade death metal done properly and delivered with a very driving sound, a solid pounding rhythm section, and guitars which are just nonstop, but with a melodic twist inside. Tracks feel like shots of swedish death metal chased with a glass of dissonant backbone of raw melodic death. This album stands out from the benchmark of a typical old school death metal release because of this slightly raw melodic approach present throughout. The result is a catchy blend of sounds that is mostly pleased to hear. In conclusion, The Summoning is not only an album which can satisfy the diehard fans of swedish old school of death metal, but it also packs some dose of fresh death metal licks that can attract new fans into its deadly grooves.
