Programme
JANUARY- APRIL 2015
through Arts Council Northern Ireland
Welcome to another busy season where we have a fabulous line-up of shows to take us into Spring. Comedy plays a big part in our programme this season with a number of well known comedians from television, namely, JAKE O’KANE from BBC’s ‘The Blame Game’ in January; TOMMY TIERNAN in February and NEIL DELAMERE, who is currently receiving acclaim internationally, in March. A favourite with Derry audiences, DARA O’BRIAIN also returns for three nights in April. This season brings a wide range of music with multi-platinum celtic artists, THE HIGH KINGS in early 2015 followed by SHARON SHANNON, MARY COUGHLAN & FRANCES BLACK also at the beginning of the year. SANDI THOM, MARY BLACK, THE WOLFE TONES and NATHAN CARTER all grace our stage this season while reenowned Irish troubadour TOMMY FLEMING joins us fresh from accompanying Elaine Paige on tour. There’s dance with the electrifying Irish dance show, TITANICDANCE in February which received three standing ovations at its world premier in Belfast’s Odyssey Arena last year and which previously received much acclaim in our own venue. We also have a brand new Opera this season with NI Opera’s
THE TURN OF THE SCREW in April. There is comedy drama this season with Conal Gallen’s A BIT ON THE SIDE in January, followed by Leesa Harker’s DIRTY DANCIN IN LE SHEBEEN. The stage version of James Joyce’s A PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST AS A YOUNG MAN debuts in February, brought to us by The New Theatre, Dublin. GBL Productions launch a new production, BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE in March, while Irene Melaugh’s play, ME DA’S SUIT, makes a welcome return. I am delighted to announce the world-wide smash hit musical, MAMMA MIA! from 7-11 July which has opened for booking. This is a first for us at the Forum and boasts an all-star cast. Catch it as it stops off in Derry as part of its international tour. Finally, I would like to thank all our sponsors who contribute greatly to our overall business. I hope you enjoy our incoming season. David McLaughlin Chief Executive
