Caught on Camera: HERoes of the Highway I Trucking Photo Contest Winners!

Professional drivers have been unsung heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic — putting their health at risk and working long hours to deliver essential goods and supplies. Inspired by their heroic efforts, the theme of this year’s “I Trucking” photo contest was HERoes of the Highway. Over 90 participants broke out their cameras and captured their favorite superheroes in front of their trucks. Women In Trucking (WIT) then invited industry professionals to vote for their top pick. More than 8,000 votes were cast for the People’s Choice Winners. With over 1,300 votes, “Hero-like Strength” by Armour Transportation Systems Driver Susie De Ridder was the clear winner. Marcus Thompson’s entry featuring seven of Volvo’s professional truck builders came in second while Owner-Operator Ingrid Brown rounded out the top three with her self-portrait. “At Volvo Trucks, we are so grateful and proud of every professional driver, the HERoes of the Highway, and our employees for their time and commitment to the industry during these challenging times,” says Thompson. “Each of the over 500 women at our NRV manufacturing plant are dedicated to providing premier products to all of the HERoes of the Highway!” In addition to the People’s Choice Awards, a panel of judges selected their favorite photos. Their top pick was “Rosie the Riveter” by J.B. Hunt’s Nancy Davis. Runners up include photos featuring cape-clad J.B. Hunt Driver Shunta Price and ReedTMS Logistics Driver Dawn Anstead.
