Alongside the existing rubbish bins dotted around the turf, there are new yellow-lidded bins for mixed recycling and green-lidded bins for compostable rubbish. Food bought from the club cafe downstairs is sold in compostable packaging (thanks to Geoff and Tara), so coffee cups, lids, paper bags and plates can now be placed into the new compost bins. These bins are emptied by WeCompost who turn this waste into, you guessed it, compost! The yellow bins will take all the usual suspects that you are used to recycling at home, such as glass and plastic bottles, and aluminium cans.

P14 WANT TO BE A REFEREE THIS SEASON OR NEED A REFRESHER COURSE? Due to popular demand, and in preparation to the season ahead, we are hosting another round of Club Based Referee Courses and a CBR Refresher Course run by Auckland Football Federation (AFF) in March/April 2018.
CLUB BASED REFEREE When: Tuesday 27 March and Tuesday 10 April 2018 Time: 6.30pm – 9.30pm Venue: WSAFC Clubrooms – Seddon Fields When you attend this course, you’ll learn all you need to know on how to properly referee a game and your qualification will allow you to step up on the day with confidence. This is a great way to get involved with football and having at least one CBR parent in the team is a huge asset. If your team has a CBR and the opposition don’t, you are entitled to ref the whole game. The course is fun, interesting and if you think “I could never do that...” you can! The course is over 2 x Tuesday evenings and you must attend both nights to obtain accreditation. To sign up for the Club Based Referee Course, click here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdAllnPz9HjPlLRqmHBRJE4u3FeEyr8wF9l64irycHTmZkOLg/viewform

This time of year is often when we start to think about purchasing football boots. There are so many different brands and models to choose from it can be a daunting (and expensive) process.
Here are some things to think about when selecting your boots: • Boots must be comfortable. If they are uncomfortable you are more likely to get blisters or an injury. • Choose the boot that is most suited to the conditions – ie turf boots for artificial surfaces, moulded studs for firm ground, metal studs for soft ground. • If you suffer from a lot of calf or hamstring injuries consider selecting boots that have a higher heel pitch (longer studs or raised back part of the shoe) to offload your calf and hamstring muscles.
boots. Often one brand fits better than others
• Be careful buying online – not all sizes are the same Back To Your Feet Physiotherapy stocks insoles and heel wedges which we can fit to your boot to help support your feet and lower limbs. Make an appointment to see how we can help. We are delighted to have Silas Bong join our team, he is a keen futsal player and has been physio for Bay Olympic last season and Hamilton Wanderers Youth team too. It’s great to have another passionate football physio on board. Katie has been away during March at the Ice Hockey World Champs with the New Zealand team but will be back on board in April.
