Queer Resistance, Solidarity, and Survival in the Margins of Freedom
Welcome to this special issue of Minority Magazine. In this issue we examine the remarkable activism and tenacity of LGBTQI+ groups in the South Caucasus. These groups are not just resisting, but also changing society from the edges in a world where political repression, cultural conservatism, and institutional violence are at odds with our identities, existance. The articles in this issue explore the particular challenges and victories of LGBTQI+s who are trying to survive and find a sense of belonging, from facing housing discrimination to the dangers of open relationships.
By reading works by writers such as Nej Goolé, Gulnara Mehdiyeva, and Yazgul Umar, we examine the unseen obstacles and outward bravery of the LGBTQI+ community in our region.
