You've always had a very unique punk rock style like we first saw on “The Osbournes”. Your style has evolved over time into a much more refined look, was your style portrayed through what you were feeling and your attitude at the time and is it still? I truly think that the way one feels is portrayed through the way they dress and their clothing choices. For example, when you are moody, you don't want to get all dressed up, you just want to put your sweatpants on and be like uh. When I was younger I would sit there and be like, okay, how can I show that I'm pissed off today? More black eyeliner! But the same goes for when you feel great; you want to look great. For me, it has been about growing up which I did in front of the world, so they've seen all of my awkward phases. I don't regret any of them; I just regret how I was wasting so much time getting ‘happy’, if you know what I mean. I realized that it takes ten times more work to be miserable than it does to be really truly happy, and realized, ‘I’ve got this all wrong!’ From the Osbournes to Fashion Police, that's a pretty big leap… how did that happen? Well, I have always been interested in fashion, and after trying out a ridiculous amount of girls who didn’t really click with Joan, they decided to ask me since I had been working on and off with Joan Since I was a baby. Were you comfortable with Joan or was it an intimidating audition like one might expect? Honestly, I didn't audition; they just asked Joan if she wanted me on the show and she said yes! So I of course said, FUN! This is going to be amazing, I get to work with one of my idols. Plus now we are like family, Joan is like the grandmother I never had, and Melissa is like my sister--we talk everyday.

So, now that you've landed a big role on Fashion Police, do you ever find yourself critiquing other celebrities on their clothing and how is the response? I don't critique celebrities; I critique their clothing choices. It’s something people take so--- personally, and I’m just kind of like, 'who gives a fu** if Kelly Osborne likes your dress or not?' You got it for free, you've given it back, you feel great. So who cares? More celebrities LOVE it when we rid them than when we don't - if we say something nice they'll be like, “Well where's the joke I don't get the joke in this?” I won’t name specific people because I don't do that, but I'm talking about Oscar Winners that have called me up asking why I have said nice things about them, and my response is "Because you look great, what am I going to say?”

Have you ever been afraid that you were going to show up on set and have to critique your own outfit? We make fun of ourselves all of the time on the show, because who are we to make fun of anybody if we don't make fun of ourselves? I’m not envious of anyone, I'm not jealous of anyone. I’m appreciative of other women and their beauty. For example, I'll look at another woman and be like ‘OH--, you bitch, you're so beautiful’ rather then being one of those girls who is like “ugh…slut” when a girl who is prettier walks in the room. I can’t stand girls like that - I am a girl’s girl. I don't want to be anybody else… it's hard enough being me. Are there any outfits that stand out to you that you strongly regret wearing? You don't have enough time, trust me! There are so many, but in a way it's a great way to look back. It especially helps when I'm having one of those ‘I don’t want to go to the gym days’. It's like… I look at that and I'm like, Uh-- get your ass in the gym!" If you could wear one thing everyday- what would it be? This is the most unfashionable answer I could possibly give, but to be honest with you, I love sweat pants! I just want to be home in my sweat pants when I'm not working. But, if there were one thing I would wear everyday (other then sweats) my 'uniform' would be a white oxford tee shirt, my black blazer, my tight black jeans, and black platforms. One of your trademarks is your hair color; it has really set a trend that everyone loves! Are there any new hair transitions that we can expect for 2013? In all honesty, I'm contracted to keep the purple hair, but I have NO intention of changing it. I was going to go for this sea foam green color that I really loved. I had to ask permission at work and they said no because I would look like a floating head in front of the green screen! So, that’s out and I’m sticking with the purple!

Mohager started The Chain Gang of 1974 six years ago with a musical demeanor in mind, but he says he never promised anyone, not even himself, a certain sound. The 27-year-old Hawaii native moved to Colorado at the age of 13, but he says he never truly felt at home in a state with snow, mountains, dry air and exactly zero ocean. Now living in Los Angeles, Mohager says that surfing has been the biggest influence for his second album, which comes out this summer. “It’s a beautiful creation that allows the soul to be patient. Surfing changed my life and has become my second favorite love next to music. The soul of the ocean was what my heart needed and that translated into the aesthetic of the songs for the new record. It’s an energetic, youthful, loud, heartfelt album. It doesn’t sound like anyone or anything. It sounds like The Chain Gang Of 1974” Mohager said. Mohager’s genuine vibe not only oozes out from the speakers, but is neatly packaged in his down-to-Earth sense of style. “When I was younger, high fashion was so important to me. Though I believe being image conscious is important in music, I tend to find myself not caring as much as I did when I was 17,” he said. “As of now, I enjoy keeping it simple.” Mohager’s favorite pair of shoes are some weathered zip up boots he purchased from Aldo a year ago. “They’ve been with me for quite sometime now and are still going strong. They’ve lost some of their color, but I think they look even cooler now because of that,” he said.

The Chain Gang of 1974 has taken a year long break from touring, but Mohager thinks that the band might hit the road again this spring or summer. He wanted to take the time off to make the new album and give his band some much needed down time. “I’d be lying if I said I’m not getting restless, but I think it’s been healthy for all of us to be off the road. I have an amazing band that puts everything in their lives on hold to hit the road with me,” he said. Mohager said when he’s lacking inspiration, he turns to youthful movies from the ‘80s and ‘90s and he’s been listening to the new Iceage album to put him in a punk rock mood. “Weatherbox’s ‘Follow The Rattle Of The Afghan Guitar,’ and The Replacements’ ‘Don’t Tell A Soul’ have constantly been on my record player. I’ve also been on a Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters/ Sun Kil Moon) kick lately,” he said. Mohager describes his style as “lazy, conscious,” and he wears whichever shirt is dirtiest from his pile of laundry to play his shows in. If he could bring one thing back from 1974, it would be David Bowie. He’s dark, introspective and composed – his covetable style and perspective make The Chain Gang of 1974 a magnetically captivating band with a novel sound.

Revoilà le printemps ! J’aime cette première sensation de chaleur sur la peau après un long et rude hiver. C’est tellement inspirant. Par ailleurs, on peut ressortir toutes nos jolies tenues printannières que l’on a cachées dans notre placard toute l’année ! Ma vision pour ce numéro était de vous faire ressentir cette grande sensation. Le printemps est un moment de renaissance et il nous donne la chance de repartir à zero. En feuillant les pages, vous verrez quelques-unes des tendances nouvelles et passionnantes à venir cette saison. J’espère que ce second numéro vous laisse inspiré pour le printemps. Quintessence de la culture californienne et incarnation du décontracté cool, Kamtin Mohager, le créateur derrière The Chain Gang of 1974, est inspiré par tant de choses à la fois sur Terre et le reste de l'univers que son moi personnel et l'extension de son soi-même, sa musique, sont en constante evolution, toujours un joli flux. Cette caractéristique même est ce qui fait de lui une personne envoûtante avec un son solitaire, cependant terrestre. Mohager a commencé The Chain Gang of 1974 il y a six ans avec une attitude musicale à l'esprit, mais il dit qu'il n'a jamais promis à personne, pas même à lui, un certain son. Le natif d’Hawaï de 27 ans a déménagé dans le Colorado, à l'âge de 13 ans, mais il dit qu'il ne s’est jamais vraiment senti à l'aise dans un état neigeux, montagneux, avec un air sec et sans océan. Il vit maintenant à Los Angeles, Mohager dit que le surf a été la plus grande influence pour son deuxième album, qui sort cet été. «C'est une belle création qui permet à l'âme d'être patiente. La vibe authentique de Mohager, ne fait pas que suinter par les enceintes, mais elle est soigneusement accompagnée de son style terre-à-terre. "Quand j'étais plus jeune, la haute couture était si importante pour moi. Même si je crois qu’être soucieux de son image est important dans la musique, j'ai tendance à ne pas m’en soucier autant que je le faisais que quand j'avais 17 ans ", a t-il dit. "A partir de maintenant, j’aime garder ça simple." La paire de chaussures préférée de Mohager sont des bottines surmontées d’un zip qu'il avait acheté à Aldo il y a un an. «Je les ai depuis un certain temps maintenant et sont toujours aussi bien. elles ont perdu un peu de leur couleur, mais je pense qu’elles ont l’air encore plus cool maintenant à cause de cela », a t-il dit. i. The Chain Gang of 1974 a fait une pause d’un an de tournée, mais Mohager pense que le groupe pourrait reprendre la route ce printemps ou cet été. Il a voulu prendre du temps pour faire le nouvel album et donner à son groupe un temps d’arrêt si nécessaire. "Je mentirais si je disais que je n’étais pas inquiet, mais je pense que ça a été salvateur pour nous tous de ne pas être sur la route. J'ai un excellent groupe qui met en attente toute leur vie pour partir en tournée avec moi », a t-il dit. Quand Mohager est en manque d'inspiration, il se tourne vers les films de sa jeunesse datant des années 80 et 90 et il écoute le nouvel album d’Iceage pour le mettre dans un mood punk rock. “Weatherbox's ‘Follow The Rattle Of The Afghan Guitar,’ and The Replacements' ‘Don't Tell A Soul’ étaient constamment sur mon tourne-disque. J’écoute aussi Kozelek Mark (Red House Painters / Sun Kil Moon) ces derniers temps, "a t-il dit. Kelly Osbourne a récemment rencontré Mint pour parler de ses réflexions sur l’évolution de son style personnel, de son concert à The Fashion Police, et de ses techniques pour avoir de beaux cheveux couleur lilas. Vous avez toujours eu un style punk rock unique en son genre comme la première fois que l’on vous a vu dans “The Osbournes”. Votre style a évolué au fil du temps vers un look beaucoup plus raffiné, est-ce que votre style reflétait ce que vous ressentiez et votre comportement à cette époque? Est-ce toujours le cas?

Je ne nommerai personne parce que je ne fais pas cela, mais je parle des gagnants aux Oscars qui m'ont appelé pour me demander pourquoi j'ai dit des choses gentilles sur eux, et ma réponse était "Parce que ça te va bien, que vais-je dire?"

Je pense vraiment que la manière dont on se sent se reflète dans la manière de s’habiller et dans les choix de vêtements. Par exemple, lorsque vous êtes de mauvaise humeur, vous ne voulez pas vous habiller parfaitement de la tête aux pieds , vous voulez juste mettre votre pantalon de survêtement et d'être comme ça hein. Quand j'étais plus jeune, je m'asseyais là et être comme ça, ok, comment puis-je montrer que je suis énervée aujourd'hui? Plus d'eye-liner noir ! Mais c'est la même chose que quand on se sent bien, vous voulez paraître bien. Pour moi, ce que j'ai fait ça a été de grandir aux yeux du monde, de sorte qu'ils aient vu toutes mes phases embarrassantes. Je ne regrette aucune d’entre elles, je regrette juste d’avoir perdu beaucoup de temps à être «heureuse», si vous voyez ce que je veux dire.
