A

mother can be dened as that special woman in your life that you love and cherish. She helped you when you were down and is proud of you no matter what. A mother will give you the best advice ever (even though you probably didn't know it at the time). She will also make every effort to be there for you, and most of all, she will love you unconditionally forever. While there may be more than one woman in your life that these words describe, the woman that comes to my mind is my Grandma. I was born to young parents, so my grandparents took the role of my parents. My mom is an amazing woman, but I don't think I would be the woman and mom that I am today without my grandma. She selessly sacriced and did all the things above and more to guide me through this adventure we call life. My grandma and I didn't always agree, but looking back now, I can see she always had my best interests at heart, and I'm forever grateful. My grandma was my inspiration for this Leisure Times concept. She loves being outside with her owers. Throughout this publication, you will see oral elements and bright colors to match her personality. We were born and raised in Hawaii, and I wanted to represent home with a Hawaiianthemed Mother’s Day card for children to color.

18 ⅼ

May 2022

A Mother... by Samantha Diaz

The main concept on the included card is a mother hugging a baby, which perfectly represents the motherly love that my grandma continues to provide me. We hug a lot back home, but a big motherly hug from that mother gure hits differently than any other hug! Whether it is because we are here in Misawa or because that special woman in our life is no longer here with us, we will always have the memories of their warm hugs. If that special woman in your life is here, give her the biggest hug you've ever given her because that simple gesture can mean more to her than you could ever imagine. I promise you that if my grandma were able to visit, I would squeeze her so tight! I wouldn't just stop at a hug. I would make amazing new memories with her! I have wonderful memories of bowling with my grandma because she's an avid bowler. I would make plans to treat her to an evening of bowling.

Happy Mother’s Day, Grandma!
