Miss Caribbean UK (MCUK) is the first Afro Caribbean beauty pageant to go National. This year we have held heats in Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, and London. Who will be crowned the new Caribbean Queen of the UK? That’s the big question that will be answered at the Grand Finale of the Miss Caribbean UK Beauty Pageant on Saturday 5th December at the prestigious Shaw Theatre on the Euston Road.

The pageant is about much more than physical beauty, it was launched last year to showcase and promote the Caribbean countries under one umbrella.

With its logo ‘Positively Promoting the Caribbean’ the event aims to raise awareness of issues relating to the Caribbean people in the UK and the wider Diaspora by inspiring, informing and uniting both those taking part and the UK audience.

Last Year’s inaugural event saw Keeleigh Griffith, representing Barbados, come through the different stages of the pageant to be crowned the winner. She has enjoyed a hectic year, not only meeting celebrities and dignitaries at red carpet and networking events, but also flying to Barbados to celebrate "Crop over" and also being interviewed on the National TV station.

Since the age of eleven I have always run my own businesses and always strive for the best. I also have my business qualification. I am well very well groomed which is also a plus. A Successful Miss Caribbean UK ambassador will be a strong woman who has the experiences of life to be able to portray and know the true meaning of integrity, purpose, peace, growth, wellbeing, and education, not just in studying terms but from being able to learn from others as well as past mistakes. She will be able to interact sincerely and socialise with citizens of all backgrounds, religions and ethnicities yet always stays true to her culture and never forgets where she came from. Our ambassador will be an endearing, professional and a great role model for women in general.

I enjoy helping people and always put others before myself. I am a people person and to enforce this I am studying International Development and International Politics not only because I am passionate about changing the current system in less developed regions but also because I believe that nobody should be living in poverty.

I believe that a successful ambassador should be kind, caring and genuine.

They should be willing to go out of their comfort zone and tackle issues that they are not familiar with. Be wholly passionate about the cause they are supporting and be honest.

Pageant winners will receive £1,500 in prize money, the chance to visit the Caribbean country they represent, and a £1,000 designer evening gown, along with many more prizes.

The MCUK contestants are to be judged on the night for all round ability to represent culture and vitality by performing as part of a carnival masquerade band; effectively modelling traditional clothing, and evening wear with high-end fashion on the runway; demonstrating historical and cultural knowledge of different Caribbean countries; demonstrating public speaking and hidden talents.
