Once upon a time a new little tooth was born in a mouth. His name was Tom. “I’m born!” exclaimed the little tooth happily when he saw his brothers and sisters, who were looking at him with great surprise. “Hello, little tooth,” replied his brothers and sisters. “Welcome to our big and happy family.” The little tooth lived in his mouth home and was very happy every day of his life.

Only one thing bothered him. Every day two sisters, Toothbrush and Toothpaste, visited the happy family. They would go to work and clean up all the teeth. But Tom didn’t want to be friends with Toothbrush and Toothpaste. He would always run away and hide when the sisters arrived. “Wait, Tom!” the sisters would call to him. “Let us clean you so that you’ll be all shiny and beautiful!”

“Uh, just come back in the evening,” Tom would say. “I’m in a hurry to catch the school bus and I’m afraid I’ll be late.” The sisters would come back in the evening and go to work and clean all the teeth, but Tom would hide from them and say, “Just come in the morning! I’m very sleepy now.” This lasted for many days. The sisters Toothbrush and Toothpaste couldn’t catch and clean him even once!

One Fubus, the boss of all nasty germs, found out about Tom’s hiding. He was a dreadful germ, and he commanded an army of really germs just like himself.Â

The army of nasty germs would attack disobedient little teeth and chew big black holes in them, and would make their homes in these holes. As the germ army grew, the hole in the tooth would get too small for it and the germs would make the holes bigger and bigger!
