Third person charged with couple’s murder BY VIKKI HOPES Black Press
A Maple Ridge man has been charged with the 2008 murders of Mission’s Lisa Dudley and Guthrie McKay. Bruce Main, 64, joins coaccused Jack Douglas Woodruff, 52, of Surrey and Justin Andrew MacKinnon, 25, of no fixed address in two counts each of first-degree murder. Main made his first appearance Monday in Abbotsford provincial court and is next scheduled to appear today (Sept. 22) — exactly three years since the murders. He has no previous criminal record in B.C., according to the provincial court database. Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said police are releasing few details about Main’s arrest or background, other than to

confirm his charges. “We’re not speaking to the connection [among the three accused],” she said. Pound said police are continuing their investigation. Dudley, 37, and her boyfriend McKay, 33, were found by a neighbour on Sept. 22, 2008 in the 31000 block of Greenwood Drive in Mission four days after a 911 call was
received that several shots had been fired in the area. McKay was pronounced dead on the scene. Dudley was in severe medical distress and died en route to hospital. Woodruff was charged in May, followed by MacKinnon in June. A trial date has not yet been set, but the preliminary inquiry is scheduled to begin June 5 in Abbotsford.

Light it up The popular Illuminaria lantern festival lit up Fraser River Heritage Park Saturday night, following a day of festivities at Celebrate Mission. The free event focuses on inclusion and kicked off with toe-tapping Cajun music provided by Bijoux Du Bayou. Also on stage, Ben Simcoe entertained with a wide variety of TV and movie impressions, and a touching Louis Armstrong song, Wonderful World. Fire performers wowed the crowd again with their pyrotechnic dancing and firebreathing while in centre field revelers walked the 800-lantern Labyrinth of Light, created by participants of MACL’s community development program. The night was capped off with a high-level fireworks show. GERHARD VON ROSEN PHOTO
