Candlelight Parade Friday night Put on your winter clothing for the 7:30 p.m. start of the 28th Mission Candlelight Parade, one of the largest nighttime parades in B.C., and for many people the official start to the holiday season. This year over 75 entries will be strutting to holiday tunes down First Avenue between Horne Street and the Cedar Connector, Dec. 2. And topping it off this year will be a completely revamped Santa

Claus float, said chamber manager Michelle Favero. The work — which has made Santa’s ride bigger and better than ever — has been donated by Fraser Valley Building Supplies, last year’s commercial category winners. Mayor-elect Ted Adlem will be marching in the parade, while outgoing Mayor James Atebe will be judging the entries. Park and ride is offered from

the Mission Raceway to the Mission Hills Shopping Centre. The bydonation service will see proceeds go to Mission’s three dry grads. Shuttles will run between 6 and 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Come early to get a great spot for the lighting of the Mission Christmas Tree, sponsored by Country 107.1FM. This year’s parade grand marshal, Operation Red Nose’s Rudolph, will ride in Mission’s heri-

tage fire truck, the use of which has been donated by Mission Fire/ Rescue, to start off the parade and light the 50-foot tree. Remember to bring a non-perishable donation for the Christmas Bureau. Volunteers will be collecting items along the parade route. Lougheed Highway closes at 6 p.m. along the scheduled parade path so come early, grab dinner and dress warmly.

MISSING HUNTERS FOUND SAFE Mission Search and Rescue and RCMP were scouring the Davis Lake area Tuesday after two hunters were reported missing. The men were eventually found, and one man was airlifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. PAGE 21
