Letter from the President Dear Members and Guests, Welcome to this special night at the Missouri Athletic Club! Club spirit and camaraderie will be on full display at tonight’s Foundations’ Gala. It’s an opportunity to get dressed up, mix and mingle with hundreds of your closest friends, dine on a variety of delicious food and enjoy specialty beverages. Tonight is not simply the MAC party of the year. It is also your chance to support the MAC’s three foundations by making a tax-deductible contribution. Inside this program you will find details highlighting all of the available auction items. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Our three foundations are key components in the future growth of the MAC. Senior management and the Board of Governors believe the continued advancement of our foundations is critical to our long-term financial health. Furthermore, it is our hope that the foundations will create a culture of giving back to the Club to ensure that it thrives for generations to come. A big THANK YOU to the auction sponsors and to our many members and friends who donated the spectacular lineup of items. We are pleased to have the best auctioneer in town back with us tonight, Past President Kim Tucci. A special thank you to Governor Aaron Pawlitz and his wife Jennifer along with the entire Auction Committee for organizing tonight’s festivities. Also a huge thank you to Katie Maurer, Director of Special Events, and the whole MAC staff for their incredible efforts in ensuring that the gala is a big success. Finally, thank you for supporting this year’s Foundations’ Gala. We hope you will enjoy the great auction items, food, drink, and FUN at tonight’s event. Cheers!

Foundations’ Exclusive Events

The 2017 Foundations’ Gala will feature a number of events for bidders to sign up to participate. These events are referred to as the “Foundations’ Exclusive Events.” Four of these featured events and information about them is described below. Bidders will be able to sign up starting at the same time that the Silent Auction commences, and the sign-ups will be located in the Art Lounge, where the Silent Auction items will be displayed and bid upon. Each of the Foundations’ Exclusive Events is scheduled for a certain date, time, and location and is limited to a fixed number of spots. This means that once all of the available spots have been signed-up for by bidders, no other bidders will be able to participate in the event. This is a first-come, first-served scenario! Each spot is available for a fixed amount. Each Foundations’ Exclusive Event represents a great chance to participate in a large-group event without one bidder needing to commit to funding the entire event. It’s also a great chance to make some new friends around the Club! Rooftop Round Robin Saturday, April 1 F $45 per person F Downtown Clubhouse F Limit 20 people (10 teams of 2) This paddleball competition is no joke, but don’t feel foolish about picking up a paddle and participating on the roof of the Downtown Clubhouse with a cocktail in hand! An MAC racquet pro will organize the competition, and Executive Chef Bart Philipps will grill delicious barbeque. Beer, cocktails, and any beverage of choice will be served. Keeping in the spirit of April Fool’s Day, silly prizes will be awarded following the competition. Get your team of two together and sign up! For the Boys: Billiards, Beef, and Booze Saturday, April 8 F $150 per person F Downtown Clubhouse F Limit 12 people Calling all gentlemen out of their man caves for a guy’s-only night of camaraderie at the Downtown Clubhouse. Start the evening with a friendly, but competitive billiards tournament. Then, regain sustenance with a thick, juicy steak and some red wine in the Rendezvous Room. Finish the evening with dealers-choice cards behind the closed doors of the Board Room while indulging in cigars and beverages such as brandy or port complemented by fine chocolates. Make it an all-nighter by taking advantage of an overnight guest room at a discounted rate of $49.50 for the night. Fiesta! Cinco de Mayo Celebration – Party on the Patio Friday, May 5 F $75 per person F West Clubhouse F Limit 40 people On Cinco de Mayo, don’t wait hours for a table at a Mexican restaurant and even longer for patio seating on a historically gorgeous spring day! Instead, reserve your spot at this private Cinco de Mayo celebration on the 1903 patio! Enjoy all-you-can-eat and drink Mexican favorites and specialties, which of course, means plenty of margaritas and tequila! Themed entertainment will include a mariachi band. For the Ladies: Lessons in Light Fare and Heavy Libations Thursday, May 11 F $49 per person F West Clubhouse F Limit 20 people The MAC’s dynamic duo, Chef Grant Higgs and Sommelier Nichole Miller-Kirk, are teaming up to offer a multi-course cooking class extravaganza for the ladies, specializing in light, healthy, summer fare paired with a variety of drinks. Indulge in cold, crisp wine or sparkling cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while learning tips and tricks from the Chef for creating and presenting a meal that will “wow” your dinner guests! Plan to take the recipes and possibly an Uber home! GRATITUDE TO OUR DONORS Each of the auction item donors has contributed significantly to the success of the 2017 Foundations’ Gala. We are humbled by their generosity. Each donor is listed in this Gala Program in the descriptions of the corresponding auction item. Please take a few moments to browse those descriptions so that you are aware of our donor community. Then, please join us in extending our sincere thanks to these core supporters of the Club and of the Foundations. Thank you, donors!
