General Manager’s Column

At the end of August, we sent a survey to all MAC Members to gain a deeper understanding of how COVID-19 is affecting your lives and your usage of the MAC facilities. A professional private club survey provider conducted and collected the survey, which ran from Aug. 19 to Sept. 2. More than 750 Members completed the survey, and we learned that nearly 85 percent of those surveyed believe the Club has had a “good” or “excellent” response to the pandemic.

Following the survey, we sent a series of five emails detailing some key highlights and statistics from the survey results. Topics included an overview of the survey, Club finances, security, dining and athletics. In the included videos, I talked Members through each of the subjects. We had a lot of great feedback and are taking your comments and notes into consideration. We were thrilled to find out that nearly 85 percent of those surveyed are optimistic about the future of the Club and nearly 90 percent are confident in the Club’s leadership team to keep them informed. Recently, an older Member of the Club told me that the MAC is the only place they’ve visited regularly over the past several months because it’s where they feel the safest. At the end of the day, that’s the intent. We want you to come on back out. Those interested in reviewing the results of the survey can find the full PDF on the Member Documents page of our website.

On another important topic, our Nominating Committee, led by Past President Keith Phoenix, just convened its first committee meeting for the 2021 Board of Governor election. Wow, how time flies! Last year, the Nominating Committee, Governance Committee and Board of Governors presented our first Orientation to Club Governance event to a great group of engaged members. It was so well-received that we did it again in February and have decided to do it again. This year, the Orientation to Club Governance will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the West Clubhouse. If you would like to get involved by serving on the Club’s committees or Board of Governors, I encourage you to attend. There will be an informal presentation, but more important, you will have an opportunity to ask questions and hear from Members just like you who stepped up to serve our wonderful Club. Come get involved!
