KING TUT IN SHARM EL SHEIKH The first museum of its kind in Sharm el Sheikh will open soon in Genena city. A long awaited cultural centre will be added to our city, A project held in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities. The museum will be exhibiting an identical replica of the tomb of Tutankhamen. All the famous jewelry of the young pharaoh displayed in the museum will be officially authorized copies made of copper and coated with gold and precious stones. Museum visitors will also see a collection of photographs recording the history of the great discovery of this tomb by Howard Carter in 1922. The museum devoted to this unique treasure will not only be a tourist attraction, but also a great opportunity for everyone to deepen their knowledge in ancient Egyptian history.

OSTRAKA INTERNATIONAL ART FESTIVAL IN SHARM The Art Festival OSTRAKA will be held with a new Workshop from the 4th till 21st of December for painters and sculptors in Laguna Vista Beach Resort in Nabq. OSTRAKA is an Art Organization, founded by Mr. Mohamed Hemeda in 2007 and since then they held 11 Festivals in Egypt and other countries. The 55 artist involved are coming from 25 countries. The materials will be given for free to the artists to work with, like Egyptian marble from Galala, metals, scraps, wood, canvas and paint. The Festival is free for anybody to visit, just like the Exhibition following, in the Conference Hall of the Resort. Local artists or anyone who would like to try their skills can take part of the workshop for free, it is just a phone call away : 01111908400 to Mr. Mohamed Hemeda, the founder of Ostraka. Children can also participate on the 16th of December (for 100EGP/child) for a full day activity with the artists who will help them learn and create art. For the closing ceremony, which is the opening of the gallery of the artworks on the 19th of December, many famous people, actors, singers and VIP guests are invited. NEW CHILL IN TOWN – A RISING ALBUM OF TRANQUILITY
Ashraf Ziada, composer, arranger and long time Sharm resident, has published a new album called Arabesque. Ziada’s new album is all about instrumental World Music with an Oriental and Spanish touch divided on 12 beautiful tracks. It is the 5th album Ziada composes and publishes. The album is distributed worldwide, on ITunes, in the Virgin stores ( 25 EGP) and – of course – in the café called Arabesque in Viva Mall, which he owns. Ashraf Ziada passionately plays music since his childhood, on Spanish and electric guitar. He plays mostly flamenco with an oriental hint, a very interesting combination. His other albums, First Joy, Guitar Bazaar, Guitar Cafè and Egyptian Memories are also available to buy on the above mentioned places - maybe as a Christmas present!

SUN ‘N FUN 2ND “WAKE FUN” COMPETITION For the second year in a row SUN’N FUN has organized a competition for waters port lovers, and many young people who were among audience last year, joined this year. The organization is built on a special concept that accommodates riders of all levels; from beginner to intermediate with easier rules to make it fun and enjoyable to compete and be new in this sport. Advanced level is judged by international rules and most of them are Egyptian National Team Members. Wake Fun is open for all wake boarders all over the country. Club membership is not required, guest riders, non Egyptian residents, Egyptians…..WAKE FUN is for all.

SAVING THE OCEAN THROUGH BEAUTY – MISS SCUBA UK FINAL A Beauty Pageant form the finest came to Sharm el Sheikh, with competent organization, beautiful women, lots of guests and a great party, the final of the Miss Scuba UK Beauty Contest. “ - Having a pageant such as Miss Scuba International allows us to get the message of marine preservation out there to a much, much wider audience” says Dr. Nicolas Pilcher (Executive Director Marine Research Foundation) From more than a hundred applicants the judges in England narrowed down the Top 8. The Final was held on the rooftop terrace of Iberhotel Il Mercato on the 12th of November. The event was a big success, with 14 sponsors, 2 professional presenters, 4 international judges and 8 finalists. All the contestants are scuba divers, but also very attractive and talented in very different arts. The pageant was organized by the classical way of the beauty contests, wonderful evening dresses, bikini show and each of them has entertained us with exceptional talents. The winner is participating in the Miss Scuba International Beauty Contest in Malaysia.

ON THE SHORES By Hedvig Jeney Winter in Sharm el Sheikh is one of the best time of the year, I think we all agree on this. The heat is tamed to pleasant caress of the sunrays, the breeze kindly tickles the body and the occasional fluffy, little cloud makes the sky all the prettier. Especially by sunset, the most beautiful colors by the setting sun can be seen in wintertime. We never really leave the beaches here in Sharm, while we have a huge variety of the sandy or rocky seaside. Most hotels and resorts have beaches, but the access on them for the public is limited

ACTIVITIES Fortunately the city has many wonderful public beaches, where you can sit and relax in the sun and then take a nice dip into the sea. The underwater world is just as beautiful, as the world above and you will be able to see a variety of marine animals, including colorful fishes, sharks, manta rays, and turtles. Let’s take a look around for some of the well known – and maybe some hidden tips – public beaches we all can enjoy. Despite the name, most public beaches only allow entrance against a fee, but it’s well repaid in services.
Terrazzina Too Sharm El Moya Bay :
Reef Beach
The bay of Sharm el Maya (Moya) is not far from the entrance of Sharm city if you enter it by land from Cairo, passing the harbor or it’s about five minutes from Naama Bay by car close to the Old Market. It is the only bay in the area specifically designated for water sport activities and is the ideal location for wakeboarding and water skiing due to the fact, that it is almost completely surrounded by high cliffs and mountains, providing shelter from the winds.
Reef Beach is a located on the reef of UM el SID Hill, not far from Il Mercato. You need to walk down stairs to arrive to a sandy platform, where there are numerous sun beds and umbrellas, a bar, massage and a beautician salon open air. To arrive to the reef, there are other steps leading down to a pontoon bridge to access the deep sea for swimming.
Terrazzina Too One of the most popular of the beaches in this bay is Terrazzina Too. It is a very cosmopolitan and well looked after, privately owned and cared for with an entrance fee of 100 EGP. This is including a large towel to use, a sun bed with umbrella, a big table and a hot party atmosphere with live foreign DJs every day, until after dusk for that chilled Ibiza feeling. It has a good restaurant, that can be accessed free if just dining. They also serve drinks (including alcohol) and food, they have a tattoo artist working there and shops for beach accessories. The sea bed here is gently sloping with fine sand coverage, huge floating pillows in the water and bar tables standing in the shallow water to gather friends, dancing and have fun. There is a slight current of the sea there, but the sight of the reef underwater with all the colorful fishes and other sea creatures is amazing. The entrance fee includes a bed, but no towel. There is an Italian restaurant on the upper level with delicious food and beverage (also alcohol). The direct connection with the reef, no sand in the water is perfect for snorkeling.
El Fanar Beach The beach at El Fanar is situated in Hadaba and is a stunning location. The sun beds are set on terraces down the cliff to the sea and the snorkeling is some of the best in the Red Sea. Dive boats often moor here, such is the quality of the sea life. Costs 60 LE to gain entry which includes a beach towel, a bottle of water and attentive staff who fetch round free fruit kebabs and cold cloths, when it gets too hot. There is a bar and restaurant on the uppermost level serving also on the beach and a play area for the children. You can enter in the water in two ways, either on

Delta Sharm Beach steps to a narrow sandy part on the reef to dip or on a bridge where the big reef area starts. There is always quiet chill out music in the air creating a very relaxing ambience.
Delta Sharm Beach Delta Sharm Beach is situated in Naama Bay and is a very lively spot in the sheltered bay. Entrance fee is usually 50EGP ( 30 EGP and 10% discount in the restaurant for residents) per person which includes a fluffy towel and a sun bed. They have a bar and an Italian restaurant with friendly waiters coming round to your sun bed on a regular basis to fetch you your drinks or snacks while chill out music linger in the air. Alternatively you can sit at one of the tables set up on the terrace and watch the action.

Sharks Bay This beach is a great spot with lots of water sports and dive outfits based here. There is a jetty for access to the deep water but many divers or snorkelers still choose to wade from the large sandy beach to the coral reefs. Many boat trips also go from here, but in no way impact on snorkeling and swimmers, as the area is cordoned off for safety. Great beach for all the family, as perfect shallow paddling for the kids, but still deep enough to swim and snorkel.
Pataya Beach Pataya Beach in Sharm El Sheikh’s Nabq Bay is comprised of a large seafront multifunction venue, with an outdoor beach club, restaurant, nightclub and swimming pool. Tourists and locals can enjoy full food and VIP bottle service at the beach’s stunning cabanas and lounge beds. If you would like to spend the day on Pataya Beach, it will cost 25 EGP per person. This gives you a towel, a sun bed and use of the beach. It is a beautiful sandy seaside and very shallow, so perfect for children or none swimmers. The reef is quite some way from the shore, so not ideal for snorkeling, but a stunning setting if you just want to laze the day away and enjoy a swim or paddle to cool down. There is also a kiddies play area and a paddling pool set right next to the beach bar. At night the beach becomes a club venue complete with dance floor, multi level seating, podiums and foam! Music is very contemporary European/US bar lounge and beach house - very cool. In winter they even have bonfires on the beach with seats dug into
the sand surrounding the flames, perfect for a chill out evening.
Zinza Beach Zouara Beach in Nabq only a short drive away . The day pass for the beach is 25 EGP, for a sun bed, umbrella and a towel. The water on the sand is very shallow, perfect for children and Zinza has a DJ with great music, a bar and seafood and snack restaurant plus beanbags for really chilling out. The coral reef is some way out from shore but you can have a catamaran trip for around 2 hours to take you out to the edge of the coral shelf where you can snorkel as long as you wish. The area is also perfect for kite surfing and wind surfing due to the shallow seas and constant breeze. There are other great public beaches on sea shore along the coast, where you can do all sorts of diving, snorkeling, swimming and other beach activities. They usually have a range of sun beds available, on some you even can get massages hair braids, food, drinks, henna tattoos and much more while you relax in the sun. Some of the beaches you need proper beach shoes, because whilst there are amazing creatures living in and out the Red Sea, there are also some, which can give you a nasty surprise. Beach shoes are readily available at all markets and can be bought quite cheaply as can snorkels and all other equipment necessary to have real water fun in these warm December days.

It’s pretty hard to miss the theme at Little Buddha, where flowers and statuettes flank the entrance and the delicate perfume of fragrant Oriental incense teases the air. But the true experience begins when patrons are confronted by the enormous statue of the meditating Buddha that dominates the dining room and the hundreds of tiny flickering- flames of candles which gives the atmosphere a soft gloom. The restaurant is situated in the intimacy of the lower level, our hostess guided us there on a large curving stairway. Seated in a velvet covered lush separate box, we ordered first of all our first cocktails, while reading through the detailed and fascinating menu. A harmonious mix of exotic and chic, Buddha Bar makes it easy to find one’s inner-self – especially when that self is dizzy on sugary sweet cocktails. On the Ladies’ night there is a singer, Joleen, enchanting the diners with her voice. The dim lights, candles, delicious food, sensually uplifting music along with a string of posh staff and the Giant Buddha; I’m in Heaven? If you want to specify the style of food served in Little Buddha in Sharm el Sheikh, you won’t have it easy. It’s an Asian, French, Japanese and Pacific Rim fusion with the creative inventions of Chef Hany, who has a great imagination to combine the different flavors for the guests delights. This makes it all the more exciting to try flavors combined in a way you never heard of. At the end of a long reading and chattingchoosing time, we decided to order. While waiting for the dishes to arrive, the kind, effective but seemingly invisible staff were taking care of every details. As appetizer, among others, we asked for Steamed Vegetable Dumplings with Chili Soya Sauce and a Salmon Tartar with Philadelphia Cheese. Gentle, but spicy the same time. When finished, the waiters brought the main dishes, one after the other. Between the many I would like to tell you about the Veal Tournedos with Potato Gratin and a steamycreamy Shitake Mushroom Sauce, proudly presented on the plate. Another dish, equally breathtaking was the Poached Lobster Tail with shrimp Risotto and a

Citrus/Butter Sauce. The portions were so big, that when we arrived to the dessert, some chose to take a cocktail instead. I shared with a friend a Cheesecake served with Strawberry and Caramel Sauce and find it hard to describe the delicacy of it. After dinner I met with Ms. Helen (Restaurant Manager) and Mr. Dima (Restaurant Supervisor) for a chat and asked them about what the month of December will bring us . They told me about their interesting promotions for December, such as the Family Feast, for 2 adults and 3 children (in total 5 persons) for 450 EGP an appetizer, main dish and a dessert with all the soft drinks possible. Another nice offer is for this month is the Shrimp Special, where for 200 EGP per person you’ll have the combination of a soup, an appetizer of choice, a main dish all based on shrimps and a dessert. Sounds like great and affordable experience for everyone – with free entrance for the night club for the dining guests. As for the Ladies’ night followed, from midnight we tasted the free cocktail of the night (for ladies only), which can be enjoyed till 2:30 am. The restaurant is open from 5 pm till 1 am, with the possibility of ordering from the large selection of appetizers and sushi until 3 am. For the sushi lovers they open already at 3 pm every day. For the festive atmosphere of Christmas, they are presenting a so called “Presepe”, which is a landscape and personalities of Christmas, beautifully ornamented and decorated with a Christmas tree, which this year will stand in its full splendor of goldred-silver colors. Every day, after dinner time, around 11:30 pm, the venue’s energy is amped up, when a diverse crowd of international jet-setters dances around the bar to the latest dance tunes. Ingredients:
GLUHWEIN THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS DRINK
Although we may live in desert temperatures here in Sharm el Sheikh, we still love to celebrate Christmas to the full and enjoy all the delicious food and drink traditions that go along with it. One of the most traditional of these and my personal favourite is Gluhwein, also known as Mulled Wine or Christmas wine. For those of you not already familiar with this festive drink, Gluhwein is basically a warm winter version of Sangria. Now a firm favourite at Christmas markets, festive gatherings and homes worldwide, the first record of Gluhwein is found in Germany and dates back as far as 1420and versions of the drink are found right across Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and as far afield as Chile! For those of you who prefer to enjoy this drink without alcohol, the wine can be replaced with apple juice or apple cider, making a delicious party drink that can be enjoyed by all. Various spices are used to create the distinct flavour of this drink with cinnamon sticks and cloves being firm favourites, and fresh vanilla pods can be added too. Below is a basic recipe guideline to start you off with making your own Christmas wine this holiday season. If you have your own favourite spices, feel free to experiment and add these too. As long is it tastes of delicious Christmas spices the exact ingredients don’t really matter and you could be starting a new tradition in your family. Enjoy the taste of Christmas in a glass!
• 1 bottle of red wine. Use an inexpensive full bodied fruity wine. You definitely do not want to use an expensive bottle and try to avoid one with oak aging-a Shiraz or Chianti would be ideal. • 2 - Cinnamon sticks – Cinnamon is very traditional. Break the sticks into pieces 1 – 2 inches each • 16 Whole Cloves – a traditional ingredient that gives it that warm flavour • 1 Orange • 2 Tablespoons runny honey • 1 heaped teaspoon mixed ground Christmas cake spices –if you can’t find these locally then an or equivalent amount of any ground allspice or nutmeg and coriander mixed together will work well also. • 1 Wineglass of Water Method 1. Put water in large pan and place over medium heat. 2. Add cinnamon honey and spices. 3. While honey is dissolving cut the orange into quarter lengthways, then cut them in half so you have eight pieces. 4. Push two of the cloves into the skin of each piece and add to the pan. The reason for doing this is so they are not loose in the drink. Note-If you forget this step then definitely strain the drink before serving so that people don’t get the surprise of a whole clove in their throats! 5. Add the full bottle of wine and bring the heat up. It should not boil so as when bubbles start rising turn the heat off. 6. When it is cool enough to taste, test it for sweetness and add extra sugar as necessary. 7. Let the pan stand for an hour or longer so the flavours develop. 8. Warm gently before serving and serve in a heatproof glass, leaving the oranges and cinnamon behind. Optionally garnish with slice of lemon or fresh stick of cinnamon. This makes approx 8 servings. Please note that the wine has not been heated enough to evaporate all the alcohol, so be aware it is still an alcoholic drink!

CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIES BY THE MARRIOTT BAKERY TEAM INGREDIENTS 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature 1 cup granulated sugar 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Assorted candies, sprinkles, or colored sugars, for decorating (optional) DIRECTIONS STEP 1 In large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. With an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg andvanilla. With mixer on low, gradually add flour mixture; beat until combined. Divide dough in half; flatten into disks. Wrap each in plastic; freeze until firm, at least 20 minutes, or place in a resealable plastic bag, and freeze up to 3 months (thaw in refrigerator overnight). STEP 2 Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment. Remove one dough disk; let stand 5 to 10 minutes. Roll out 1/8 inch thick between two sheets of floured parchment, dusting dough with flour as needed. Cut shapes with cookie cutters. Using a spatula, transfer to prepared baking sheets. (If dough gets soft, chill 10 minutes.) Reroll scraps; cut shapes. Repeat with remaining dough. STEP 3 Bake, rotating halfway through, until edges are golden, 10 to 18 minutes (depending on size). Cool completely on wire racks. To ice cookies, spread with the back of a spoon. Let the icing harden, about 20 minutes. Decorate as desired.
