Greetings and Salutations,

As President of the Montclair Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma eta Sorority, Incorporated, it is a great honor to welcome you all to our Annual Jazz Luncheon fundraiser in support of scholarships.

Today, we celebrate the enduring power of music and the importance of education. Our scholarship program has enabled countless young people to pursue their dreams and positively impact the world around them. In Delta Sigma eta, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. at’s why we are proud to support scholarships for students in need, helping to create a brighter future for themselves and their families. e Jazz Luncheon a rms the timeless art form of jazz while raising money for a worthy cause close to our hearts--educational opportunities for youth.

is event is also an opportunity to celebrate jazz music’s rich history and universal appeal. Jazz has a unique ability to bring people together, inspire and upli , and evoke powerful emotions. As you enjoy the music and the company of your fellow guests, please know that your presence here today makes a di erence.

As members of Delta Sigma eta Sorority, Inc., we are committed to upholding the principles of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action in all that we do. is fundraiser is just one example of how we implement those principles. I am proud to be a part of such a dedicated and passionate group of women.

I want to thank our sponsors whose generosity and support have made this event possible. We could not do it without you, and we appreciate your support for our organization and mission.

All the best,

Greetings,

It is with great joy that I welcome you all back to our Annual Luncheon!

I sincerely thank the Fundraising Luncheon Committee for their dedicated service and hard work to ensure our Annual Jazz Luncheon is a smashing success. We are excited to be back as we gather, dine, and enjoy an a ernoon of jazz.

Our Jazz Luncheon is Sold Out! One hundred percent of funds raised bene t scholarships. ere is no greater need in the communities we serve than scholarships for higher education to educate the next generation. We, Deltas, stand on the shoulders of scholars who preceded us and must ensure the younger generation can stand on ours.

Our commitment to service, scholarship, and social action a rms the core values of our Sorority and the vision of our 22 Founders. We continue to honor their vision and legacy through our work in the community. e Delta Sigma eta Five-Point Programmatic rust consisting of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement, is the foundation of our public service e orts.

Channeling the immortal words of the late, great, legendary jazz & blues performer Nina Simone, “ ough it be a thrilling thing to be merely young and gi ed in such times, it is doubly so - doubly dynamic - to be young, gi ed, and black.”

ank you again for your support!

Yours in Service,

Celebrating our Charter Members and Past Chapter Presidents whose leadership continually expanded chapter educational and scholarship activities.

Proverbs 31:10

Who can nd a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

We, the Montclair Alumnae Chapter Chaplain’s Council members, honor a virtuous woman, Soror Paquita Roberts. Her grace, commitment, and dedication as the Chaplain’s Council Chair speak to her distinction in so many ways as a woman seeking to please God. “Mother Paquita,” as she was a ectionately called, labored abundantly in MAC focusing on what is important in making us better women and Sorors.

She guided and inspired us with perseverance, calm wisdom, and quiet speech. Mother Paquita knew her life in Delta was also a blessing with love and enthusiasm. Our beloved Soror rests in power anointed with God’s grace, mercy, and favor as a virtuous woman.

Lift Every Voice and Sing

Li every voice and sing, Till earth and heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of Liberty; Let our rejoicing rise

High as the list’ning skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us; Facing the rising sun of our new day begun, Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod, Bitter the chast’ning rod, Felt in the days when hope unborn had died; Yet with a steady beat, Have not our weary feet

Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?

We have come over a way that with tears has been watered. We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered, Out from the gloomy past, Till now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, ou who hast brought us thus far on the way; ou who hast by y might, Led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray.

Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met ee, Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget ee; Shadowed beneath y hand, May we forever stand, True to our God, True to our native land.
