3rd Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom for the United States of America Term of Appointment: May 2011 - October 2013 For the past four and half years, a two year Senate Confirmation Hearing process and two and half years in the post, (from May 2011-October 2013) Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook (Ambassador Sujay) served as the 3rd Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom for the United States of America. Nominated by Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and appointed by President Barack Obama, Suzan Johnson Cook was the principal advisor to the President and Secretary of State, integrating Religious Freedom in the Foreign Policy and National Security discussions. She had more than 28 Diplomatic engagements in 29 months, bringing faith leaders and women to the Religious Freedom discussions. Having served two US Presidents and three members of the Cabinet, Suzan Johnson Cook is highly regarded as an international Influencer, Faith leader and Diplomat bridging party, racial and gender divides. ESSENCE magazine named her as one of the top 40 POWER women in 2011, along with First Lady Michelle Obama; EBONY magazine named her amongst the top 150 in 2010, and most recently MOVES magazine named her a POWER MOVES woman in 2013. Currently, she is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Catholic University of America, and building a movement, ProVoice, to help celebrate Black and Latina women, and help get them into key leadership positions, to become both a political and economic force. A native New Yorker, Suzan Johnson Cook and her family live in Washington DC and New York. She has been the Senior Pastor of three congregations, and is known for her transformational and impactful lunchtime services on Wall Street. Author of ten books, including three bestsellers, she has delivered more than 2,500 speeches, traveled to and led delegations throughout five continents, and lived in Spain and West Africa.

Owner of Charisma Speakers, a global communications firm which focuses on global partnerships, and presentation and preparation for public life, Suzan Johnson Cook hosts annual speakers’ camps, to improve on giving public presentations and, she also is a SPIRITUAL ADVISOR TO CELEBS. She has led non-profits and businesses. Her monthly “Gatherings” on WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS FOR WOMEN, (soon to be announced) and her annual retreat for women leaders and women of faith is flocked to by hundreds of women from around the globe (www.WomenOnTheWorldStage.com). Her latest efforts include building sisterhood between women of color, especially those left in the R.E.A.R. (Racial, Ethnic And Religious Minorities). Suzan Johnson Cook is an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., Sorority, and the Links, Incorporated. A graduate of Harvard, United and Union Theological Seminaries, Columbia University and Emerson College, she has two Masters degrees, a Doctor of Ministry degree and a President’s Administrative Fellowship, and has studied at Tuck Business Institute’s Minority Business Executive Program, been an Officer and professor at Harvard, on the Board of Emerson College, and taught at NY Theological Seminary and Riverdale Country School. A motivator, commentator, liberator, she is energetic, empowering and enthusiastic, and toured with Bishop TD Jakes, been the first female President of the largest clergy conference in the world, the Hampton Ministers’ Conference, and the first and only Female Chaplain for the NYC Police Department for 21 years. She is called, committed and compassionate about human, civil and gender rights and equality. She is dynamic, dedicated and devoted to improving lives.
