Construction work at the Mount Morgan Mine, once the world’s richest gold mine before it closed 30 years ago, is on track to start by HeritageChristmas.Minerals, the project sponsor, is working with all levels of government on plans for a rehabilitation and resource recovery project at the mine, which operated for more than a century – from 1882 to end of mining operations in 1990.
By the time that the Mount Morgan Argus goes to print, everything that could be said about the death of Queen Elizabeth II would have been said.
“The Mount Morgan mine created so much wealth and prosperity and had wide-ranging impacts, including providing the impetus for the establishment of BP (British Petroleum) and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Australia’s
Heritage Minerals Managing Director Malcolm Paterson said its plans for the environmental rehabilitation of the old mine site, funded by recovery of gold and copper from the mine tailings, was projected to support jobs for another 100 years, and preliminary work on the abandoned mine site could be underway this year.

oldest medical research institute,” Mr Paterson said.
The long reign of Queen Elizabeth II was marked by her strong sense of duty and her determination to dedicate her life to her throne and to her people.
She became for many the one constant point in a rapidly changing world as British influence declined, society changed beyond recognition and the role of the monarchy itself came into Herquestion.success in maintaining the monarchy through such turbulent times was even more remarkable given that, at the time of her birth, no-one could have foreseen that
The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and celebrated her Platinum Jubilee in June of this year.
“We expect to support 250 jobs in construction, and 150 direct operating jobs and more than 2400 indirect jobs, and we’re aiming to reduce local unemployment from 17.7% to 6.7%.”
“The recent Jobs and Skills Summit in Canberra highlighted the national skills challenge. Mount Morgan has long had its own challenge with a double-digit unemployment rate.
With two male heirs in line to take the throne, there is every chance that we will not see another Queen in our lifetime.
“Ourgenerated.project will respect and protect that proud history, and create new jobs and opportunities for the future of Mount Morgan and the broader region,” Mr Paterson said. We’ve even commissioned a multi-year documentary about the history and the re-start of the
One clear message that has been reinforced over the past few days since the announcement of her death was that Queen Elizabeth dedicated her life to serving the people of Great Britain and the people of the Commonwealth, a pledge she made before she even became Queen.
These works include an access road, administration buildings and a drain to divert freshwater captured on the site to a freshwater water storage as a new way to lessen acid mine drainage that emanates from the site. Planning is also underway on the staffing and rostering requirements through the stages of the project’s development,” Mr Paterson said.
Mrmine. Paterson said Heritage Minerals has been working closely with the Queensland Government, which has managed the site as an abandoned mine, the Australian Government through the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility and Rockhampton Regional Council on local procurement and job creation.
During the mine life, about 250 tonnes of gold and 360,000 tonnes of copper were extracted from the mine with about 134 million tonnes of waste rock and tailings
One of the most interesting comments made over the last few days was the Queen was a working mother. She became Queen in what was still a male dominated world.
Her 70 year reign and the respect that has been shown in her passing is evidence that she has succeeded at being a guiding light in an ever-changing world.

The premise is as Followingfollows:the death of a wealthy business tycoon with a local connection, Mount Morgan is unexpectedly flush with cash. Around the same time, The Town Gossip, The Ex-Delinquent, The Blow-In and The Lifer receive unusual correspondence inviting them to join a mysterious group known only as ‘The Panel’. With unprecedented power and hidden agendas, how will they spend this latest influx of mountain gold? What will the future hold under the stewardship of The Panel?

“The way I see it, not everyone has made or seen a piece of theatre before, and ‘the t-word’ can be pretty off-putting for a lot of people. If I asked some folks to help me make a performance, chances are they’d look at me like I had three heads. But if I asked them to play a game, that’s much more familiar. It’s just about finding – or designing – the right game to get those storytelling juices flowing”.

The Rotary Club of Mount Morgan recently presented a new Dishwasher to the Mount Morgan Welfare Bowls Club.
“At a function held at the Bowls Club earlier this year, it was discovered that the old dishwasher was no longer capable of doing its job. The Bowls Club is an important community asset and like all community groups, needs support to keep it operating. Therefore, the Rotary Club decided to apply for a Rotary Grant and top it up from local fundraising in order to provide a good quality dishwasher to the club,” Mr Edmonston Hesaid.said the Rotary Club was delighted to make the presentation in view of the support received from the Bowls Club and also its importance as part of the Mount Morgan community.

Due to parliamentary duties, I was unable to attend this year’s Mount Morgan Show. However, Team Boyce was there and held a mobile office. The traditional country show has been an important part of many regional communities for more than 100 years. At this year’s Mount Morgan Show, my team was impressed with the variety of stalls, exhibitions, and attractions. I would like to congratulate all involved.

“I remember saying to my husband, “You are not going out there to stay by yourself any longer”, recalled Mrs. Morgan, smilingly. “And so I packed up, and off we went to the mountain to live”.
On her 80th birthday in Brisbane in 1934, Mrs Louisa Morgan (pictured) provides rare insights into her wellknown family and the beginnings of Mount Morgan: ‘… Chatting over a cup of tea, Mrs. Morgan described how she and her husband and family of four young children arrived in Rockhampton in 1882. Previously they had lived at Bungaban, a station on the Dawson [near Taroom, about 320km south of Mount Morgan] belonging to Mrs. Morgan’s father, Mr. Charles Bell, her husband being manager of the station. It was while prospecting for a supposed silver lode on the selection of Donald Gordon, one of the party, between July and August, 1882, that her husband picked up
Mrs. Morgan said the country was so rough and steep and so heavily timbered that it had to be travelled on foot. “I could not carry any of the children up”, she said. “It was all I could do to drag myself up, although I was a strong, vigorous woman about 28 or 30, and I remember I sat down on a rock two or three times on the way up and had a good cry! Every piece of iron and timber for the house, and all the materials for mining operations had to be carried up separately, piece by piece, as it was impossible to take them up any other way”.
“One day”, said Mrs. Morgan, “Gordon and my husband went for a walk up the mountain. They separated both going in different directions. My husband picked up a few specimens but did not pay much attention to them. When he washed them in the creek, however, he realised he had stumbled on payable gold. They did not continue their prospecting on this trip as it was too wet, and Tom Morgan [Ned’s elder brother] was not very well. Later they returned and brought back some more stone … Gordon was sent off with the specimens, but he stayed at a public house on the way and the stone disappeared. More specimens were obtained, and these were sent to Gympie, the assay results being so successful that the brothers decided to develop the place.
Mrs. Morgan related that the house in which she and her husband lived was built near the Dee River, about two miles from the mountain. It was a solitary life, there being no settlement of any kind within about two miles from the mountain. After a time, when mining operations were well forward, some 80 men were employed by the brothers and there was quite a little tent town ….

Taking a break, they head down to Georgia to Jack’s family lakehouse. He hadn’t been back there for twenty years and they were going to decide whether to keep it or sell it. Jack stopped in at the local supermarket for supplies and it was there that he was confronted with a vision that was beyond belief - it was impossible... It was Elise, the love
Written and directed by Erwann Marshall and featuring fine performances from Todd Grinnell, Ravi Patel, Brianna Hildebrand and Ka-Dee Strickland, THE TIME CAPSULE runs for one hour and forty minutes and is rated M for “coarse language” (once again we think it’s more PG13).
Jack knew he would never see Elise again. She was gone Timeforever...passed, the world moved on and eventually Jack moved with it. He gravitates to a career in politics, meets a beautiful, clever, interesting and ambitious lady who wants to help him with his political causes and marries her. His career goes from strength to strength and Jack finds himself running for Senator. Life is full, busy, rewarding, fulfilling... No kids yet but that’s okay, the job had to come first. Besides there’s still plenty of time later for children. After all they’re both still young. Jack’s only thirty-eight years old.
How could this be? What should he do? What would this do to his carefully structured world and life?
of his life. Even more incredible, while he was twenty years older, she hadn’t aged a day, Elise was still only eighteen years old. He wasn’t hallucinating. She wasn’t some ethereal apparition. She was real flesh and blood.

THE TIME CAPSULE
However, Jack and Elise were still only eighteen and seventeen. Their parents called the shots... So, when Elise’s dad, a sole parent, volunteered to pioneer in establishing a colony on a planet in distant space, he volunteered Elise’s participation as well. All of a sudden, she was gone. She would travel through space at a velocity close to the speed of light, sleeping for twenty months in suspended animation before starting her new life in a new world.
Jack was devastated. The love of his life is Elise. They’ve been together all through high school, inseparable, always happy, laughing, joking, kidding around, studying - they did everything together. Elise obviously felt the same way about Jack. The way she looked at him and lay her head upon his shoulder, the way she always sought him out in a crowded room, she just wanted to be near him. They were one of those rare, unicorn romances, a match made in heaven, in love with each other and destined to spend their lives together.

1922 and life was very relaxed and people were very proud of who they were. Lifestyles were basic but they were happy and inventive. Fashion was amazing and ladies wore the most stylish clothes, but it has been documented and photographed that a hat and gloves were always worn. Men, Women, and children wore hats, and ladies always wore gloves. Ladies wore short gloves during the day and long gloves at night when they were out. At home they did not wear them. The hats: well, some say were to protect from the sun, but they were always stylish and matched their shoes. In pictures taken during the 1920’s this was very evident including images of Q.C.W.A. members at functions.
