Your primary function as a Manager is to guide people to perform at their best. To that end, you conduct regular sales meetings to hold them accountable, you provide coaching to keep them on track, and you provide training when needed. But what do you do to improve the outcomes of your performance when you’re conducting those sales meetings and as a Manager. This seminar will focus on what can you do to improve your performance as a leader, mentor and motivator, thus having a greater impact on your people and your organization at large.

It is in both your best interest and your buyer’s that you master the art of negotiating. Negotiating is something that many people dread. In this seminar we’ll explore the 12 Gambits Buyers Use and how to avoid “The 7 Deadly Sins of Negotiating.”

T20 – STRATEGIC AND TACTICAL MARKETING PLANS
AD CO PD
Unsure whether your investment in marketing is contributing to the bottom line? Marketing has strategic and tactical elements, but often in the construction and property management fields, the tasks of marketing get relegated to the tactics — tradeshows, websites, and brochure creation. Results become difficult to measure and companies are left wondering whether the line item for marketing on the P&L is generating the best return on investment. This seminar and workshop will work through the basic elements of marketing strategy and explain how senior managers in the most successful companies chart the strategic marketing path of their firms. Attendees will work through how this strategy can be turned into a tactical plan that can be simply delegated with measurable results. Participants will walk away with a draft plan and an enhanced level of knowledge for the strategic and tactical marketing of their business.

Effective Project Management includes the ability to anticipate and foresee problems that could derail your project. The project manager’s success is often linked to his or her ability and skill in managing risk and minimizing the impact of changes to both the project scope and product scope. Usually this ability is developed and the skills honed, only through prolonged exposure to the project management environment. This course will give you a head start at developing the necessary trouble-shooting skills you need.

The President’s Job Description is intended for leaders who seek to clarify that being bigger does not equal just doing more, but doing things differently. W11 – MAXIMIZING THE ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF A HOUSE
W09 – FACADE DESIGN FOR EFFECTIVE THERMAL PERFORMANCE ADDRESSING NEW CODE REQUIREMENTS & OPTIONS TO MEET ASHRAE 90.1 AD CO GR
AD CO GR
Why strive for a higher level of energy efficiency in your houses or townhomes? Perhaps to meet rezoning requirements for your proposed development, perhaps as part of a green rating program such as Built Green® or LEED, or perhaps to simply provide your clients with a higher performance home. Regardless of the motive, there are particular strategies which can be used in our local climate to most costeffectively improve the energy performance of a house.
EINAR HALBIG
In this session, you will learn which municipalities are mandating energy performance targets, what tools are available to assess energy perfor mance, and what equipment, materials and construction methods are proving most appropriate for Lower Mainland conditions.
An industry dilemma was created when building codes changed. Attaining sustainable results through traditional resources is difficult and misguided. The building code changes specify higher R Values, replacing R Value with effective R Value. To attain an effective R value one must consider the effects of thermal bridges of studs, girts, window frames, etc. This presentation will provide an understanding of ASHRAE 90.1, the importance of an effective R BLAIR DAVIES value, how to reach it and how to design with thermally broken facades.

T02 – NAFS AND THE CUSTOM HOME
AD CO GR
The demand for endless variety in size, shape and mullion SPONSORED BY configurations for windows in strikingly at odds with the Code requirement that all windows be tested and labeled to report their performance—not at a standard size—but at the sizes and mullions spans ordered by the customer. This is where it gets messy for the manufacturer, and for the builder.
Speakers: Tyler Galbraith, Lawyer, Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP John Logan, Managing Partner, Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP Tim Peters, Associate Counsel, Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP
The lack of testing also poses risk for builders. Untested, improperly labeled or suspiciously labeled products come under scrutiny by building officials, and a compliance problem for the manufacturer also becomes a delay problem for the builder.
