Fight #2
Main screen Cool to have an easy access to search tags and‌ eghm‌ alarm clock? That’s weird đ&#x;™„
No picture preview‌? đ&#x;˜˘
On iOS Evernote presents each note on separate card. This creates some unnecessary clutter, but nothing serious. What it definitely lacks though is grouping.
Google encourages designers to use brand colors, and Evernote does it well!
vs.
Cool, that Evernote put effort to teach me about its features. Nice onboarding pattern! đ&#x;‘?
Grouping, good! Dividing the content into chunks sure makes it easier to scan. Also, no cards here, just as Google recommends!

Navigation Once again hamburger menu‌ Although the icon could be considered not selfexplanatory the label makes its meaning perfectly clear for the user.
This is good place for Search, but I’ve got one right on top already‌ đ&#x;˜Ż Maybe there are some fancy filters and other features? (There aren’t)
vs. 5 main sections of the app seem to be well thought, covering all the crucial parts of Evernote. Add sign‌ I think it’s where I’m adding a note? It’s definitely not obvious! And this green color‌
Bottom navigation has became a standard for Android quite some time ago, so why hiding important stuff, I ask? đ&#x;˜Ş Tags, Shortcuts‌ these are the things that we want to see right away! They are important. Still, it’s nice to have grouping also here!

Basic action: add new note Human Interface guidelines say that tab bar should not be used to perform actions â˜? This solution is actually a combination of tab bar and tool bar. And it is definitely not something Apple recommends đ&#x;™€ Also making one bar element to stand out is against Human Interface guidelines.
Classic use of Android FAB for Add new note action. Strike home! đ&#x;ŽŻ
vs.
Also, Evernote uses related actions feature to offer all possible note types - that’s nice. There is one but though the user should be able to close the menu after tapping the biggest button once again. This is definitely not the case here! đ&#x;‘Ž

Widgets Evernote puts great pressure on widgets they’re available on both systems and have nice functionality. Still, iOS widget looses when it comes to personalisation possibilities. The actions set is really well thought through!
It’s a shame though, it is available only after tapping Show more.
3 types of widgets, nice! That’s so Android‌ish đ&#x;˜? Really simple one - with favourite action.
vs.
A bit bigger one, many actions, but no not preview. And something for heavy widget fans!
All of them are personalised, naturally.

Summing up Evernote definitely aims to satisfy both Android and iOS users. Offering dedicated features such as widgets and application for wearables. This is good. But! When it comes to recommended design patterns Evernote takes them rather lithely, especially in iOS combining tab bar with tool bar and playing with navigation elements colors.
>
Also, the list of notes itself on iOS seems imperfect comparing to the one on Android.
>
A strong feature of Evernote on Android is making a use of clustering elements, whether it’s on the notes list or in menus. It’s a pretty powerful tool, as it makes the content much easier to scan and search. Whole app gives off Material Design vibe - wide range of available widgets, FAB, hamburger menu (ouch!).
It sure has some issues, but still presents cleaner design than on iOS.

And the winner is…

Take care!
