Editor’s Note We’re at the beginning of summer and as the temperatures begin to rise, we see the summer festivities move into full gear. With memorial day behind us and The fourth of July just ahead of us, Remember to take some time this summer to enjoy yourself. If its within your budget, plan a trip to the beach, a party trip to your favorite city or even romantic vacation to a caribbean Island. If money is tight, take the time to enjoy some of the things around the place that you live. I’m sure there are area that you live in. Every city has fun and exciting things going on if you get out and immerse yourself in it. Take this opportunity to make some new friends and also get closer to the friends you already have. All good friendships need a little cultivating. And who know. You might even find a little summer romance along the way. Summer 2013 can be whatever you want it to be as long as you put a little bit of effort into it. Take a chance. You never know where things might turn up. And at the end of the summer you have a wonderful story and a fantasitic memory to take you through the cold months of winter. Make summer 2013 your summer to remember! Bisexual VS
Gay He states that he is bisexual. But you are a gay man. How will this work? The first question you should ask him is “what does that mean?” By definition, bisexual is an attraction to both males and females. Does he actively act on both of these attractions? Does he date men or women more? Does he see himself committing to a relationship with either a man? Does he plan to date you and another woman at the same time? Does he believe in monogamy? Is he looking for a situation where one sex is accepting of him stepping out with the other sex occasionally? Once you have the answers to these questions, you might develop many more. But at least you have a starting point to understanding the man you’re thinking about getting involved with. There are many that believe that men cannot be bisexual. They believe that men can only be straight or gay. While many of these same people believe women can be bisexual, they do not hold the same view when it pertains to men. Recently, Wendy Williams in an interview stated this very opinion. She is not alone in this course of thinking. Many women, especially in the black community, see a bisexual man as a gay man that just hasn’t come out of the closet yet. And why do many of these people hold this view? For many, it is just personal opinion, some believe that a bisexual man is just a gay man in hiding. They feel that the man is just using being bisexual as an excuse to greater acceptance. Many bisexual men will tell you that this could be the furthest thing from the truth. Many bisexual men see women pulling away from them because of their bisexuality. There are some women who subscribe to the notion that this man just hasn’t met the right woman yet to turn him straight. These women normally see certain physical or financial qualities in the man that would be of benefit to them. So they have sex with the men thinking that they possess the magical vagina to change the man’s same gender interests. They almost always fail in this attempt. What most of these people need to realize is that these men see qualities in both of these genders that are appealing. Just because one gender can gain his attention doesn’t mean that he still doesn’t maintain an attraction to the other gender. Many people have a certain physical type of mate that they have a strong physical attraction to, be it large breasts, a fat ass, a muscular chest or a flat stomach. 13

Being attracted to those qualities doesn’t mean that you can’t be attracted to someone with small breasts or a beer belly. It is just something that you’re attracted to and if you commit to the person with a small ass or a less defined chest, that doesn’t remove the attraction you have for big breasts or the muscular chest. So on the same note, even if a bisexual man falls in love with the sexiest man alive, that doesn’t mean that he now has no attraction to women and vice versa. The best thing a person can do in dealing with a bisexual man is accept the fact the he is attracted to both sexes. That will make your life so much easier. Let that man tell you what assurances he can provide you with, rather than assuming that things will change because he is dating you now. Many newly married women fool themselves into thinking that once they get their man to marry them; all of his cheating will stop. As we all know, if a man is cheating on you before you get married, he will most likely cheat on you while you are married to him. The only reason a man will stop cheating is because he has made the decision to stop cheating. It has nothing to do with what his spouse wants. And a bisexual man can decide to not act on the attraction he has for the opposite sex if he has decided to be faithful in his current relationship. One of the bigger questions is, can you fully accept that the person you’re in a relationship with is bisexual. If you can honestly answer yes to that question, you might have a future in that relationship. If you cannot, you need to consider letting this relationship go. Being honest in this type of relationship or any other, requires you to first be honest with yourself. In this world of sexual fluidity, we might have to open ourselves up to situations that might not be the ideal situation. But, if you go in with your eyes open, and your head on straight (no pun intended), you might just find happiness. Dating the right bisexual man should be no different than dating a gay man. The only difference is “Can you handle the truth?”

Men are fickle beings. Especially gay men, have you ever noticed how they ex-change men as frequently as they change their socks; Without any forethought or consideration for the other persons feelings. A lot of us are like that though, gay and straight men: we move in and out of relationships like rats jumping from sinking ships. Always looking for an upgrade or the next best thing. We discard people like old worn out shoes or clothes and we go on with our lives like this for years without considering the many scorned and potential lovers that we have left in our wake. I guess for men it is just natural and easy to want to experience lots of different flavors. I am guilty of this fatal character flaw. It used to be just as common place for me to have new boyfriend every other week. I called it dating. Of course, now I am much older and wiser and I as I look back on my escapades, I can see that it wasn't so much me dating as it was me whoring around town. Of course, that is not the way I saw it back then and I am almost certain it is not the way most men who still live that existence see it now. Truth be told there are lots of things in my past that seem like very bad habits that I wish I had never adopted. But with age comes wisdom or so I am told. Then again, maybe its not wisdom as much as it is boredom? Do people really get wiser or do they just get tired of existing in a certain way? Do we just grow out of old habits like old pieces of clothing? I would have to say that makes more sense than actual maturity. Not that men can't mature, but isn't a form of maturity realizing when something just does not fit into your life anymore? And does that type of maturity usually come when you have grown bored with certain things that you used to do that used to be fun? 23

Humor me for a moment: consider some old friends that you fell out of touch with, people whom you spent a great amount of time with. Why did you stop being friends with them? When or how did the friendship end? You probably can't even say. All you know is that one day you were friends and the next day you were acquaintances. Maybe the calls between you became less frequent. Or the opportunities to hang out became less and less. Perhaps you found some one else who you had more fun with or more in common with. And those are all excuses for why you think the friendship ended but truth be told that person just did not fit into your life anymore. You matured and grew into a different person and who you were didn't fit into that friendship anymore. That is what happens, eventually we find that the things that used to work perfectly for us just sort of fall to the wayside. That is how it happened for me. I woke up one day and I was completely bored with the one night stands, nsa's, and new boo's every other week. I wanted something more concrete. I had grown up and that kind of lifestyle just didn't fit me anymore. But that's the way that life works. We wake up one day and find that the people we use to be are necessarily the people that we want to be anymore. Or that the people we knew aren't people we want to know anymore. Or perhaps the places we use to hang out at, are not as fun as they used to be. Whatever the circumstances things change, we change, people change, and the person we used to be just does not fit anymore. 10 Men You Should Avoid Getting Involved With This list of different types of men should be used as a starting point for understanding the type of guy you might be dealing with. Many guys may fit into these categories and they might be good guys and great potential mates but anyone leaning too far into a category, you would proceed with caution. Mr. Always Busy You can never get him on the phone. He misses commitments with you. You have a deep friendship with his voicemail. This guy never has time to spend with you because he’s always busy, but he seems to be such a good catch that you can’t seem to let him go. Your best bet is to let this one get away. Mr. Cheater This is the guy that is currently in a complicated relationship. He tells you he has every intention of getting out of it, but now is not the best time can you just be patient with him. This is normally the same guy that is always looking at you like you’re cheating on him. And you do everything in your power to convince him that you’re being faithful. The only thing to remember in this situation is no situation is that complicated. If he wanted to be free, he would be. Mr. So Fresh, So Clean This guy is always dress a little bit better that necessary. Normally this guy is covering something up and trying to divert attention away from some other flaw that he believes he has. While there is nothing wrong with looking good. There is something wrong with having to be the standout in every room that you enter. Mr. I Got a girl The Bisexual man wants you to understand his situation and accept your place normally with the promise of spending time occasionally with you. He lets you know right away that he has a girlfriend or wife, so you will be the jumpoff. Many of these men are just trying to have their cake and eat it too. Send him to the bakery and keep it moving
Mr. Homebody He is looking for a relationship but not willing to put any effort into it. He normally makes no plans for your dates. And he normally doesn’t want to do any of the things you suggest. All he ever wants to do is stay at home and watch TV or a DVD. You best bet is to buy him a fresh pair of batteries for his TV remote and run like the wind. 29
10 Men You Should Avoid Getting Involved With Mr. Too Many Friends This guy is always with his friends. He is the life of any party and his phone never stops ringing. This guy will doesn’t know what a quiet evening is because he is always out on the town. When he is with you he normally cannot put his phone down long enough to have a conversation with you for fear he is missing out on something. Leave this guy in the middle of his friends where he is most comfortable. Mr. Too Many Exes The guy where when you are with him everyone you run into used to date him. This guy will have you looking at everyone that he runs into with the side -eye. You have to wonder if there is a reason why he couldn’t make it work with so many people. You’ll soon join that very popular club if you date him. Mr. All Men are Dogs This guy believes that no man can be faithful but is looking for a man. This guy has no trust in possible mates and has is ultimately doomed to failed relationships because he convicts everyone before they have done anything wrong. These men are also the kind to cheat on you first because they feel sooner or later you will cheat on them. While everyone has the ability to be a dog, you have to give the benefit of the doubt or no one is ever really relationship material. Mr. Super High/Low Sex Drive These guys normally are at the extremes of the sex cycle They are either too hard to keep up with or will sexually frustrate you. No one wants to be with someone who only thinks about sex and they also don’t want to be with the guy that never wants to be sexual. One of these guys might work for you if you fall on the same end of these extremes, but beware of what you ask for. You just might get it. Mr. No Dreams Fulfilled This guy is the dreamer that has a million plans on how he can be a success but none so far have worked out and most of the time he is all talk and no action. This guy can talk a good game but you never see any results. This is normally the guy that is looking for the quick path to fame and fortune. He has tons of plans about when he is successful but has no thought process into how to become successful. Ask Aunt Pearl Dear Aunt Pearl: I’ve been dating a guy for a few months that he wants to stop using condoms. In the past, almost every guy that I’ve dated has cheated (I have cheated in the past too) and I’m scared of contracting HIV. We are both negative but I’m very uncomfortable with going bareback. How do I handle this? When should I be prepared to go to this next level? Dear Mr. Rubber Man: This is easy and a hard question to answer. Once you are fully committed and tested in your relationship most people would take things to that next level and remove condoms from your lovemaking. But I completely understand why you are apprehensive. The condoms are a safe barrier for you. In the event that your current man goes down the path of your previous mates and cheats, you have the condoms to fall back on to help you maintain your health and piece of mind. It sounds to me like you’re not ready to give up the condoms. So, what you should do is have a serious discussion with your lover about how you feel and let him tell you how important removing condoms from your lovemaking is. He might surprise you with his understanding if you lay it all out there for him. And if he is still insistent on removing condoms, you might need to seriously think about whether he is the man for you. If he does conclude that he is willing to give you more time, you might need to take responsibility of the condoms in your relationship. That means purchasing them yourself as well and making sure they are always available when you both get that feeling for sexual healing. You do need to nip this in the bud before it becomes an even bigger problem. And maybe over time you’ll get to that point where you can see yourself have sex without them.

Ask Aunt Pearl Dear Aunt Pearl: Me and My partner have been together for 3 years and while we have no major issues our lives have become very routine. I feel that the spark is gone and we’re just existing. I recently started seeing a new guy that treats me the way I wanna be treated. We eat out. He touches me tenderly. He listens to my issues and is very thoughtful. He is involved with someone else. I’m starting to feel bad about hanging out with him but I can’t seem to let him go. He told me he has no intention of leaving his lover and I really have no intention of leaving mine. How do I get past feeling guilty for enjoying my time with this guy? Dear Cheating and It Feels So Good; You need step back from this and take another look. Your mate might be neglecting some of your needs but you have abandoned his. You’re investing yourself into this new man that already has someone else. You have no room to talk about your relationship becoming routine when the only thing you’re doing to change that is to find excitement elsewhere. You might not plan on leaving your lover but if he finds out about your extracurricular activities, he might be the one leaving you. To answer your questions, if you plan to continue to see this new man, commit yourself to seeing him there is no reason to feel guilty if you’re just going to continue to see him. Enjoy your exciting times because they just might get more exciting if your man or his man finds out about the two of you.
