Editor’s Note I was deeply saddened by the news of the “postponing” of the destination vacation event Inferno Dominican Republic 2013. On Wednesday August 28, 2013 around 1pm(EST) Facebook and Twitter began to rubble. Something was going wrong at the event scheduled to begin in approxiamately 24 hours. Reservations that had ben fully paid for months in advance had not been secured with the host resort. About two hours later an official statement of postponement was release. I personally have been to Inferno for the past 3 years. I had decided not to attend this year. I’m at a loss as to why this event collapsed like it did. I have thoroughly enjoy this event in previous years and felt that the organizer, Will Williams, was very professional. I viewed this as one of the premium events that would take place annually during the Labor Day weekend. I find it very disheartening that so many people had been stranded without the organizers present to help them in some way. As more and more information is released about what actually happened, my hope is that there was no maliciaous intent. My prayers go out to all of the attendees that had to spend additional money to stay at a resort they had already paid for and I also pray for those that got stuck there without any additional funds to secure lodging and were left without a place to stay. This is a very sad situations that I pray will have a happy ending. And please feel free to send me any comments or suggestions to comment@moccamag.com Rodney L. Berry

The Back of the Closet

Mixing Signals by Rafael Solece He said he had an early day as he tossed my clothes to me on the way to the bathroom. He then stated "I had fun. We should hang out again", but of course as the words fell from his lips I had a gnawing feelings that I would never hear nor see him ever again. As I started my walk of shame from his apartment building to my car, I wondered what had happened. Things had seemed to be going so well. We had chemistry and we were vibing. He was attractive and attracted to me. Things felt like they were moving in a good direction, which was how I ended up in his bed with my clothes strewed across his living room floor in the first place. Yet, here I was, put out of his apartment at dawns first light, very confused and feeling slightly ashamed. Perhaps, I had misunderstood what he really wanted from me in the first place? I suppose I had gotten my wires crossed. Perhaps he wasn't as in to me as I had thought he was? Perhaps last night was less about two attractive people building a connection and really just harmless flirting that lead to two people giving in to their natural carnal desires. I suppose I had just mixed up the signals. That seems to happen a lot, people getting their signals crossed. It is so hard to tell now-a-days what a person’s true intentions are. Are we friends or are we fuck buddies? Are we lovers or roommates with benefits? Does he like you or is he just attracted to your big booty and muscular body? Nothing is ever really what it seems and so understandably, there are a lot of confused people walking the planet with a lot of unanswered questions. Does he love me? Does he like me? Are we just fucking? Are we actually dating? Is he my boyfriend or my best friend? I guess it is just the nature of the world we live in today. We hide behind innuendos; we expect people to know what we are thinking, to know what we really want without having to actually say it. I personally think we are all punks, afraid of a little rejection. 9

The Back of the Closet

Mixing Signals by Rafael Solece We would rather hide our true intentions under the cover of darkness then stand up and be seen for who we are: sexual creatures, hopeless romantics, or lonely people who need to be surrounded by friends. Of course the sad thing about sending mixed signals is that it perpetuates a false sense of security. The sexual creature tells someone I am really into you. I would love to get to know you, and you fall for the trap, right into a false sense of security. His truth is that he just wants to get to know your body; he could care less about anything else. The same could be said for the hopeless romantic or the lonely man, who'd offer his body up for the possibility of love or friendship. Nobody is saying who they really are, what they really want, or what they intend to do, but everybody is trying to persuade somebody else that they want the same things. It is really sad, but it has become so easy for us not to say what we mean or mean what we say. To pretend to want and/or need something else other than what we actually are really after. Mixing signals has become like a safety net for a lot of us: a romanticized lie. It is a hell of a lot easier to pretend to be something other than who we really are, because telling the truth could lead to us not getting what we want. Spoiled people don't like being deprived of what they think they deserve, and we are such a self-indulgent society that we think we deserve everything we see. We're idiots that way. So we go on mixing signals, telling half-truths, pretending to be what we think other people want and usually it ends with someone walking away from the situation feeling lonely and used. We never did hang out again. I don't even think we exchanged numbers the night we met and I never did see him again after that. I suppose we had mixed signals. I thought we were on a date and he thought we were meeting to fuck. I guess those questions should have been posed right from the very beginning? Mixing signals is easy to do especially when no one is actually saying anything. I never assume anymore, I always ask; what are your intentions? I would rather know then have my signals crossed. BOY DRAMA

We had the opportunity to discuss the Series BOY DRAMA with its creator, DonBon. Here are excerpts from that interview. Mocca: Tell me about how you came up with the idea for the web series “Boy Drama”? DonBon: There has always been something inside me to act. I have always been an entertainer, whether it has directing, producing, singing or modeling. And at one point I had an epiphany to start a web series. When I was younger I would create home movies with my brother, so doing a web series is really just a progression of my earlier efforts in my childhood. Mocca: Tell me about the creation of Boy Drama? DonBon: When I decided to create a web series, I originally gave it the name “Dante’s Peak”. We started Dante’s Peak in January 2013. It started off like a spoof of The Real Housewives of Atlanta but it quickly turned more into what you see with Boy Drama with characters written by me and the storyline was shot in one episode. When we recreated the show, we took everything that happened in that one episode and spread it out across an entire season of chapters. 19

BOY DRAMA Mocca: Tell me about the series Boy Drama. DonBon: Boy Drama is written in a voice reflecting black, gay D.C. We recognized that there were shows like No Shade, that was back-dropped in New York City, and FreeFall, based in Atlanta; But there was no a show that were back-dropped in D.C. So, Boy Drama was created to give you a side of black gay culture in D.C. Every character created in the series is relatable, especially if you happen to live in the D.C. area. The show works to provide you with a view of black, gay life in D.C. Mocca: Tell me about each of the main characters of Boy Drama?

Justin

Isaiah

Jacob

Dante

Tylen

Demarco

Taylor

DonBon: Dante’ (who is played by myself, (Don Bon). He is in love with a guy that cheated on him but he has decided to give the relationship another try. And most people can relate to the situation of not being able to get over a past love. The series is also narrated by Dante’. Tylen (played by Vincent B). He is the Diva of the show. He is over-dramatic, a little cliché of a gay black man, dealing with his own issues. Justin (played by Tyree H.) has self-esteem issues. He is trying to maneuver thru his life and find himself within that. Jacob (played by Ted Arrows) He is Dante’s Boyfriend. He is trying to regain Dante’s trust and re-establish their relationship. Taylor (Played by Lady Dame) is a rapper. She is trying to find balance between her blossoming career and her relationship with Demarco. Demarco (played by Tristen H.) is Taylor’s boyfriend. A lot of secrets will unfold between Demarco and Taylor as they progress thru their relationship. There are other characters that will appear with the progression of the season like 20 Isaiah, Erica and Antonio.

BOY DRAMA Mocca: You stated that this series is a depiction of black, gay life in D.C. What do you see in the black gay life in D.C. that is different from in other cities? DonBon: Each city is most known for something. In Los Angeles, you have Hollywood where everyone is after stardom. Atlanta is considered the black gay capital, it’s the party city. D.C. by comparison is a very political city. You don’t see a lot of the glitz and glamour that you see spotlighted in other cities. It is in D.C. but it is not on display the way it is in other cities. While many of the major cities have a lot of similarities, these transient differences are what give each city its unique edge and that will be spotlighted within the show. Mocca: What has been one of biggest obstacle that you encountered in creating the series? DonBon: Originally when the show was Dante’s Peak, we had the characters that you see now but many of the actors left the show and those roles had to be recast. Finding these new actors was a challenge but they came in and picked their characters up very quickly. I couldn’t be happier about their professionalism and work ethic. So re-casting was the biggest obstacle. It’s very hard to find people that will be dependable, loyal and dedicated to the project. Mocca: Have you run into any issue with finding behind the scenes crew? DonBon: No, not really. I’m not the type of person to have a lot of people involved. I find it easier to handle more of that myself. Normally I’m the one behind the camera (except for when were shooting a scene that requires Dante). In those situations either Tylen or Justin with handle the filming. The three of us started the show together so we normally handle those tasks. As far as editing, I do that myself. One other obstacle that we have to work with is scheduling. Being that everyone on the series has a day job, finding the time to coordinate with everyone’s schedule can be very challenging. 21

Web Series Roundup

BOY DRAMA Mocca: What has been the most rewarding thing that you’ve experience in producing the series? DonBon: The most rewarding thing has been the acceptance that we have received for the series. Being an artist, I’m very sensitive about the work that I do. Receiving so many comments from people that have seen the series, praising the work we have done, wanting to find out if they can be a part of the series, has been so rewarding to me. Because these people don’t know me, we’re getting their honest and unbiased feedback of the series. For them to be giving us our props and letting us know we’re doing a great job is very powerful. I feel that in the definition of success, when your friends like you that’s great but sometimes you don’t know if their opinion is biased because of their relationship with you. When total strangers tell you “You’re doing it!” It’s a very rewarding feeling and it means the world to me. You can clearly see that you’re making an impact. Mocca: What social issues do you plan on addressing in your season? DonBon: We plan on discussing a lot of issues including HIV, men on the down low, gay fashion, rape, stereotypes and social media. All of these things and so many more have a clear impact of the lives of black, gay men. Mocca: What are your plans for the show as far as how long your season will be and the release of new episodes? DonBon: With this being our first complete series, we plan to release each chapter of the series on a monthly basis. The season will include ten chapters. Mocca: Who do you find inspiration from in producing the series? DonBon: My biggest inspiration has been Spike Lee. I love the way he started out as an independent and was able to become one of the largest mainstream talents. I’m also inspired by Sean, the creator of the web-series No Shade. I just love the way he tells his story. 22

BOY DRAMA Mocca: One of the biggest issues I’ve heard repeatedly from different series creators is finding funding for their projects. How have you attacked this issue? DonBon: Creating the series can be very expensive, we have photo shoots, wardrobe, makeup, etc. Up to this point, the series has been funded out of pocket. I feel that if something is your dream or your passion you will find the means to accomplish it. We will be starting a fundraising account for our viewers that would like to contribute to the cost of creating the series. Mocca: Do you have any final comments you want to express? DonBon: I truly want to thank each and every person that has watched the series. We never stop getting excited to see that more and more people have decided to watch and subscribe to our series. It is a true honor to even have reached the point where I was able to do this interview. It means more that anyone could ever know. To find more information or contact the cast of Boy Drama. judys Mocca: Tell me how you decided to get into doing a web-series? Casey Hamilton: The idea for “judys” came to me 5 years ago. I’m originally from Baton Rouge, LA. I was still attending college. I had never even visited Atlanta. The concept just came to me. But I had no idea how to develop it. So I began jotting things down and I always knew that the backdrop would be Atlanta, because I had always envisioned Atlanta as being the capital of all things black and gay. But I didn’t know anything about what the real Atlanta was like. So I just continued to write here and there. I did shelve it until after college because I was planning to move to Atlanta. Once I moved here in 2010, I actually got a real feel for the city. I didn’t get back to writing right away because I did get caught up in Atlanta life. The parties and making new friends.. After I was able to settle down I redirected myself to continue developing the show. The show was originally written as a pilot for television. At the end of

last year, I concentrated my efforts on the show and used my real-life experiences in Atlanta to help develop the show. The character that I play “Harper” is the party boy. In January 2013 I start working on the script to be a web-series. Mocca: How did you come up with the premise of Judys? Casey: When first began writing, I didn’t feel that there were any shows that deeply delved into the black gay lifestyle in a realistic but entertaining fashion. Specifically, for young, black, gay men. I felt that it could give people that might not be gay some exposure into the lives of young, black, gay men. Our culture is phenomenal. I want people to see the good and bad experiences black gay men face as they enter into adulthood. I wanted to focus on some of the stereotypes that are out there about black gay men and use them as a starting point.

judys Stereotypes like we party a lot, that we’re all flamboyant queens, that we’re sexually promiscuous and the down-low lifestyle. So I decided to base each of the judys off those stereotypes and fully develop the character so that you would be able to see the whole person and possibly the reasons why that stereotype has been applied to them and hopefully shatter it. In the case of the flaming queen, show that he is so much more than that. And also show that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Mocca: So tell me about each of the main characters? Casey: Harper is the main character and the narrator of the series. He is the party boy of the group. He has recently moved to Atlanta from Los Angeles trying to get away from the drama that he created there. He’s in Atlanta looking for a fresh start. He is the glue that binds the four judys together. All of the friends are getting to know each other out of their friendship with Harper. Carvin is based off the stereotype of gay men being promiscuous. But his promiscuity is based out of his insecurities. He is no Samantha Jones. Most of the sexual encounters that he has he has major regrets about them afterwards. Macen is based on the stereotype of the DL guy. Mason is gay, but he continues to maintain relationships with females because he’s not fully comfortable in being gay. He’s clueless and very naïve in his own ways. He is still trying to come to terms with his sexuality. Ezell is based on the stereotype of the extremely effeminate gay man. He is the loudest, most feisty and the most flamboyant of the group. He is also the only one in the group that is in a relationship. He has been in that relationship for the last 3 years and also happens to be the most conservative. Mocca: What is the journey that you see these characters taking your viewers on? Casey: We’re starting out with a prelude season consisting of five episodes. We’re using this season to set up for a fully funded season. Once we reach out finale, we will launch an Indiegogo campaign to help finance the first full season. We hope to come back and delve deeper into each character to show more aspects of their lives and show the progression of their friendship.

judys Mocca: What a one of the biggest surprises that you have encountered in bringing this series to the public? Casey: I’m a writer. I attended Southern University majoring in journalism. The show was created as a pilot for network television. I first decided to do a teaser. That teaser turned into a pilot and that pilot has now morphed into this web-series. I quickly realized that many things had changed and people want to see your work. I only planned on being writer. I never planned to be a producer or a director. I never planned on getting behind or in front of the camera. So, me taking on so many roles was unexpected. I’ve enjoyed and learned a great deal. I’m also really proud of myself for being able to handle these additional duties. Mocca: Have you corresponded with some of the other content makers to get some of their knowledge on their experiences? Casey: I’ve definitely talked with a few of them and they have helped me to be able to network and get some things accomplished. One of the universal themes I’ve found is that that the support is not completely there within the black gay community. Creating content like this is very expensive and financial support is very hard to come by. I’m grateful for each and every person that views each episode of Judys just like the other producers are grateful for every viewer that watches their series. But I don’t think many realize that there is a cost involved to bring it to them. My hope is that more people will invest their money into the work that we do so that we can continue to bring them the content. If we can get them to support us the way they support the Beyonce’s and the Rihanna of the world. We will be in a much better place. I’m one of the new kids on the block, so I’m learning more and more each day. Mocca: Were the any show that you found to be inspirational to you in creating Judys? Casey: Judy’s is full of inspiration. I’m a 90’s kid so I grew up with. In the voiceovers you hear influences from movies like Clueless and Sex and the City. Many of the shows you see on the web have followed some of the same blueprints but the writer and the producers take on those blueprints is want makes them stand out and shine on their own. So even though there might be many series that might look the same on the surface, when you dig deeper you hear the unique voices that they work hard to convey.

judys Mocca: What is your release schedule? Casey: Right now we are monthly. A teaser was released in April the pilot was released in June. And each episode will be released monthly going forward. Filming for the show takes place in the spring and summer month. That is the timetable that the show with be based on. The course of the show is based on the activities of one summer. All subsequent seasons will be a continuation of the same summer. Things can happen fast in the gay world. Today you could be with on guy but by the next day you could have moved on to someone new. One day your friends with this person, the next you are not speaking to e: them anymore. I wanted to catch the fast pace of how things can change in your life especially here in Atlanta. Mocca: Where can people information about judys?

Casey: I just want to thank each and every person that has watched the show and forwarded the show on to their friends to watch. The response to the show so far has been great. We will be starting the official fund-raising campaign next month but if anyone wants to support the show the can use the Paypal icon on the website homepage.

Mocca: Tell me about the idea for creating the show. K.L. Allen: We wanted to create a show after being inspired by other black gay series like Noah’s Arc and web-series like Steel River and FreeFall. But we wanted to spotlighted the down-low and bi-sexual lifestyle which is different than the way it is normally portrayed. The writer of the show Mr. X. presented me with the script and after reading it I decided to develop it and turn it into a series. The story is based on his life.

Mocca: When did you start production of the series? K.L.: We started casting for the series in March 2013 began shooting the first scenes in June 2013. Mocca: Give me a brief synopsis of the show. K.L.: The journey I want the viewers to go on is thru one man’s struggle with his sexuality. He is a recently divorced record label executive. His career has him in the spotlight so he feels he must hide certain aspects of his life. He also doesn’t feel that he is gay. He feels that he just has a curiosity that he is indulging. Mocca: The main character Jayden, in his curiosity, did he always have this curiosity with homosexual activity or was this always within him and he has now chosen to entertain it? K.L.: This curiosity is something new that has developed since his divorce. All of his life he has identified as a straight male, but some recent events have planted a seed in him that he has decided to cultivate. With that bi-sexuality will be a reoccurring theme within the series. 33

Mocca: Tell me about the different characters of T.R.A.D.E. It All. K.L.: Jaden Woodard (played by Devon Forbes) the record label exec. He is very nonchalant, masking most of his emotions. Rico Suarez (played by Renaulto Guzman) is an up and coming RnB singer. He is a freshman in college. His grades are starting to slip because he’s focusing his attention on his developing music career. Kenny Jenkins (played by Mecca Ray) and Kyra Dawson (played by Jalohn Steward) are couple. Kenny is one of the biggest promoters in the south Devon Forbes as Jayden and Kyra is a promotional model. He works with Jaden for a club that Jaden is opening named T.R.A.D.E. Kyra is his ride-or-die chick. Andre ‘Dre’ Jones (played by Lenard Miller) is a drug dealer and he’s more of a corporate thug. He works a 9-5 for cover disguise his drug dealing lifestyle. Donovan Clark (played by Horace Middlebrooks) is connected to Giovanni who is a psychiatrist who recently moved to Atlanta from Chicago. He meets Jaden thru an altercation in the gym. And they will run into each other more as the show progresses. Symeon Hawkins (played by Davien Harlis) is an Editor for a major magazine. He is currently trying to dig up dirt on Jayden so put it on his gossip blog. At the same time he also seems to have some kind of infatuation with Rico and his is working to elevate Rico’s career.

Mocca: With you mentioning Dre being a drug dealer, with the storyline include reference to the different drugs being used on the black club scene? K.L.: We will definitely touch on drug issues and where someone might have an addiction have to go to rehab. Mocca: What was one of the most surprising things you’ve run into in creating this series? K.L.: Some of the responses from viewers have been very quick to judge the series rather than give the show a chance to develop. I feel that with a little more understanding , this community can work Jalohn Steward as Kyra together to build something powerful rather than tear it down before it has a chance to grow. So the negative backlash has been the most surprising. Mocca: And what has been on the most surprising things that were positive that you’ve experienced? K.L.: That the show has grown as quickly has it has within the first two weeks of posting the first episode we had more than 7000 views and more than 300 subscribers blog postings of the show, interviews. Radio station A105 has contacted us to get involved with the series. We have had a very quick showing of support from various Mecca Ray as Kenny media outlets. The way people are embracing the show so quickly has been amazing. Mocca: What is you release schedule for the show and how many episodes will you have in your first season. K.L.: The first season will contain six episodes that are schedule to be released monthly. Our hope is that with the second season, we will be able to release episodes every 2 weeks. 35

Mocca: One thing brought to my attention is that your production has been building some of your own sets for the scenes that you shoot. K.L.: The last episode that we filmed was shot out of Royal Flush Studios in Atlanta, GA. They’re a great studio, owned by the clothing design company Pop Culture Clothing. They also provide some of the wardrobe for the show. His studio is like an art studio and we were able to transform parts of the studio for the different scenes that we shot. The psychiatrist scene and the office scenes were both shot in that studio. We’re very grateful to Pop

Culture clothing for being so accommodating. Designer Bernard Buie has also been a contributor to the series. Mocca: With building sets and filming to series how have you tackled funding the series? K.L.: Right now we are 100% self-funded. We have been able to acquire location sponsorship. Within our limited budget we have been able to continuously raise the production value with each episode and that is something we are very proud of. Date Like A Man! Tips to Become a Better Dater Dating in the gay community has become somewhat non-existent. When you ask gay men about dating, most will just laugh in your face, like you just told the funniest joke. The majority of gay men feel that no one actually dates anymore. The consensus is that people just hook-up. But when you ask most men would they like to date, an overwhelming majority will answer yes. If so many people want to date, why are so many people not dating? The answer is most men are waiting on the next guy to do all the work and they will just reap all the benefits of his work. In today’s society, most gay men put no effort into dating and when are they invited on a date, they expect the other person to wow and impress them rather than themselves putting effort into insuring that the date is successful. Most gay men take no responsibility for how the date goes. This is in stark contrast to how heterosexual men date. Heterosexual men are expected to impress the woman that they’re trying to date. That is a key part of that statement. Straight men put effort into what they are doing because their trying to date the person that they’re with. Most times the woman is also putting effort into making sure that the man has a good time and wants to take them on another date. Gay men have this sense of entitlement where others are supposed to go out of their way to impress them while they do nothing to impress the other party. And the results of these actions are everyone is waiting for the next man to sweep them off their feet. The other issue is that gay men are very quick to have sex. While sex is good and everyone enjoys it, without getting to know the other person, you end up not being invested in maintaining the connection. Most men can separate sex from love very easily and are capable of having sex with random partners without the need to get to know them. This disconnect makes it easy for men to walk away from the situation after the sex is complete. Normally, even if one person does want to advance their interaction, the other party has already detached himself from the situation. To become a better dater, a gay man must adopt some of the habits and tendencies of the straight man. I titled the article ‘Date like a Man’ rather than Date like a Straight Man”. While there are things we can take from our heterosexual counterparts, the bottom line is you’re still a man dating a man. There has to be a difference in the way you go about it. But it doesn’t have to be completely different. The first thing a gay man must do to become a better dater is to take on the role of initiating the date. So many gay men stand back in

46

Date Like A Man! Tips to Become a Better Dater wait of what they want rather than stepping up and going after the person they think they want to date. Straight men do not do this. They normally have no problem gathering the courage to strike up a conversation with a woman that they’re attracted to. They also have no problem asking a woman out. Gay men need to adopt this strategy. Instead of staring at someone from afar waiting for them to make the first move, get up and make the first move yourself. It might just work out for you. Most men will tell you that they do not want to be rejected. Straight men feel the same way. But they still overcome that fear and ask women out. Sure they do get rejected. But remember it only takes one yes to get that date, so the odds are in your favor the more you put yourself out there. The most successful daters are the ones that have learned that you might get a few no’s before you get that yes. Many straight men have learned to live in the moment. When they see a woman that they want, they don’t hesitate to communicate with her. Gay men need to get in the habit of doing this as well. When you see a guy that you’re attracted to, make it you objective to meet that person. Check him out and see if he shows any interest. If he does, play on that and start a conversation. If he is giving you the right signals, go ahead and ask him out. Most people will tell you that they find it attractive when a man shows initiative. Though their actions might not show it, most straight men realize that that a woman might be out of their league. But they adopt the philosophy of ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained. A straight man will take the chance and ask out someone like Halle Berry or Beyoncé if they had the opportunity, knowing full well she will probably say no. But they feel there is always the slightest chance that he might be the one that she says yes to. So in their everyday lives, they will take a shot with the woman that will probably say no just because there is always the chance she might say yes. Gay men do not do this. If they have the slightest inclination that the other guy might say no, they will hold off. Work on going for it in those situations where you might not feel things will go in your favor. The results just might surprise you Some of the most successful guys have learned that they only need one yes. They’re willing to receive a few no’s to get to that yes. Everyone has met that guy that has no problem going after people he wants. He is normally a guy that you don’t find to be attractive. But he still has the nerve to go after people even when you see him get rejected. He has developed a tough skin and can move on to the next without feeling rejected. No one wants you to turn into that guy but take some cues from his actions. He has the confidence to go after a guy that you might feel would not be attracted to him. If rejected, he just moves on to the next. He doesn’t doubt himself, he doesn’t wallow in self-pity, and he doesn’t get upset. He just moves on. And learning to do the same will make you a stronger person and will help you to develop your selfesteem.

Date Like A Man! Tips to Become a Better Dater A straight man knows how to make woman feel wanted. When a man wants a women he quickly will figure out the way to make that her feel wanted and desired. Most women find themselves attracted to men that make them feel attractive and make them feel desirable. Straight men have learned how to give complements. Gay men need to develop the skill of complementing a man. Most gay men expect compliments but don’t know how to give them. They also will only give compliments once they have received them. Learn to compliment people and you’ll be that much closer to him wanting to spend time with you. A man knows the difference between someone he wants to fuck and someone he wants to date and spend time with. Understanding the difference between true compatibility and sexual compatibility is very important in dating. You normally always want to fuck someone that you wish to date but you might not want to date someone you only want to fuck. Understanding this will help you to not pursue the wrong people and not waste your time These skills are like muscles that you have to exercise for them to be the most beneficial so if want to be a successful dater you will need to practice. Start off small and work from there. Develop your ability to meet a guy and flirt with him without asking him out. You might just open yourself up to him feeling comfortable and asking you out. If not, at least you will raise your confidence to position yourself to ask for your own dates. The key to dating is someone sieging the opportunity that is in front of him. And once you go get that date, you put your best foot forward to make sure you and your partner enjoy that date and there is a possibility of a second date. You cannot rest at this point. Your job now is to make sure your date is comfortable and enjoying time that you two are spending together. All of the responsibility doesn’t fall on you to insure a great date, but you should act like it does. You have to remember that most guys are expecting you to entertain them. It is up to you to draw them in so that they can take on some of the responsibility. I the process of dating the person you will also figure out who is genuine and who is a user. You have to remember that he doesn’t have all the power, you do. If he is being passive, he is putting his happiness in your hands. And we all know that is not a good thing. If this guy is a true match for you he will step up to the plate and show that to you. You just might have to draw it out of him. So, get out there and try some things out. It will make you a better person and you might just find a mate.

Ask Aunt Pearl Dear Aunt Pearl: I recently met a really great guy. He is very attractive, wonderful body, Very intelligent and a great lover. He had been very secretive about his job. But felt as long as what he was doing was legal, I wouldn’t have a problem with his job. He is very self-sufficient. He own his own condo. Has a new car and has never asked me for money. Well, I recently found out what is job is. He is a porn actor. He has been in the business for about 6 years. I rarely watch porn, normally only when one of my friends wants to show me something special. He has met most of my friends and none of them have recognized hime from his work My dilemmna is ai have really fallen for this guy and he has done nothing wrong , other than be deceptive about his occupation. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with my man have sex with other people on camera. I never thought I’d be faced with a situation such as this. What should I do? Dear Porn Star Lover: It seems to me that you really have an easy choice to make. Many people find themselves in not so perfect situations. Your situation happens to be one that is not causing you any harm or pain (as far as I can see.) I would assume that your man is doing gay porn. You also neglected to tell me is he does any bareback porn. You seem to have a good guy there that was afraid to lose you because of his job. While that deception is a red flag. I think it is a small one. You have to worry about his and your sexual health if he is doing bareback porn. If he is not there a still some added risk that he is introducing because of his profession. You need to have a serious talk with him and find out if he is hiding anything else from you and then you'll be able to make a fare and accurate decision. But I think you have already decided to stay with him. And there is nothing wrong with that Just make sure you can handle it when your friends find out what he does and also when his fans might recognize him. I think you can handle it . And remember that no guy is perfect. 58

Ask Aunt Pearl Dear Aunt Pearl: I have been is a relationship for about two years with a wonderful guy. We are not the most compatible couple out there but we make things work. Sexually, I am a strict bottom and my many is more of a versatile top. Within our relationship I have never penetrated him( nor do I have any desire to). He has been given the permission that if that itch needs to be scratched he can find someone else that is willing to scratch it for him (safely, of course). One other thing about my man. Throughout most of his sexual life, He has had an attraction to women. Every blue moon, he has the desire to have sex with one. I give him a pass on that too. The problem that I am faced with now is for some strange reason he has it in his head that I should join him with a woman, sexually. I have not the tiniest desire to be with a woman. But he is constantly trying to get me to do it. His birthday is coming up and he wants that as his birthday present. Again I have not sexual interest in women. Should I do it just to appease him or should I stand firm and tell him no? Dear Birthday Threesome: It appears to me That your man has the best of all worlds and is like kid in a sexual candy store. And just like that over-indulged kid, he always wants more than he has. If you are not comfortable with the threesome, you should not do it. I believe this might be a game with your man to see if he can get you to do it. And if he does, he’ll find some other way to push the envelope. I think if that boundary is already set, there is no need to push it. Let him know you are not interested. If you give in on this, he will only want something more down the road. If you have a question or situation that you would like Aunt Pearl to help you with, send your letter to askauntpearl@moccamag.com or you can submit the letter from the comments page at www.moccamag.com. 59

Horoscopes Aries (Mar 21-Apr 19)

Taurus (Apr 20-May 20)

Love & Feelings — An Aries represents the beginning point of when a person becomes aware of his or herself. Arians can be self -absorbed and innocently unaware of others’ feelings. They easily gain others’ interest and respect with their enthusiasm, but to be able to garner and maintain their support will require diplomacy, flexibility, tolerance, prudence, compassion and consideration. They endear themselves to others with their ability to make them laugh. As lovers, they can be passionate, warmhearted, ardent and generous with their affections. They enjoy the chase, finding the contest exciting, but after making a conquest, they may cool very quickly. Their best relationship will be with someone independent and self-assured, glamorous, charming, warm and dramatic, who thrives on the energy of love and excitement. Sexual Behaviors & Performance — Sexually, Aries tend to be tops. Aries Tops With Aries that sexually tend to be tops is like playing croquet with live bombs — never knowing what is going to happen! Never expect Aries who are tops to wait for you to be ready, as your clothes will be ripped off when they are ready to go. Never tease a top Aries or you better be ready to deliver. Fond of slave master games top Aries likes it rough and they like to explore, so be ready to go where no one has gone before! Their favorite sex position is missionary, fast and furious. Aries Bottoms Aries bottoms are wildly sensual, passionate and adventurous. They will have sex anywhere. They know what they want — intense and frequent sex! Bottom Aries have a need for complete control, but they also fall in love with love. As a mate, they are ardent, loyal, sentimental, and earthly. Bottom Aries biggest thrill is to tickle and their favorite sex position is on their knees with their sexual partner standing in front of them.

Love & Feelings — They are normally sincere, genuinely sympathetic, charming, easygoing and amusing with a comforting, earthy sense of humor. They create an aura of relaxation around them that others respond to with warmth, but their initial response to love is reserved and cautious. Taureans need to know where they stand before letting their guard down. They respond to someone who’s attractive, neat, health conscious, modest, reliable, discreet, efficient, affectionate, loyal, helpful and thrifty. They could meet their type in cafés, restaurants, public gardens, libraries or at crafts fairs, produce markets, dairy farms. Sexual Behaviors & Performance — Sexually, Taureans tend to be tops. Taurean Tops They prefer it slow and easy. They will not be a guide to the exotic unknown, but what they do sexually they do it beautifully. Taurean tops are great partners to have around for long and luxurious oral sex, but they may tend to wander if their needs are not substantially fulfilled. Their erogenous zone: gently and slowly kiss and bite the back of their neck. Taurean Bottoms They expect their sexual partner to be kind and patient and to make love to them by the book. They like to be pleased by sex, but don’t look for unusual approaches. They are demanding lovers and leave their sexual partners breathless. They also have a need for oral gratification. Their most likely kink biting and sucking on toes, one by one.

Horoscopes Gemini (May 20-Jun 21)

Cancer (Jun 22-Jul 22)

Love & Feelings — Their nature is to be enthusiastically sociable, and it is easy to mix with people, because of their inherent proclivity for light conversation and humor. Gemini initial attraction toward others is based on mental compatibility. Romance, affection and sexual expression come after they’ve found intellectual sympathy and satisfaction. They love romance, but approach it mentally, not emotionally. They’re fond of exchanging verbal expressions of love and, in addition to enjoying passionate phone calls, they may write poetry or send frequent greeting cards. Gemini would do best with someone of good social standing who is diplomatic, cooperative, affectionate, charming, artistic and well balanced

Love & Feelings — On good days, they’re naturally inclined toward fun and leisure, and attract others with their dry wit and pronounced sense of humor. They have a knack for making others feel right at home, because they enjoy nurturing and catering to their needs. Their ideal relationship is based on mutual needs and strong values. Cancers require loyalty, devotion, trust and sympathy, and want someone who’s passionate, intense, energetic, soulful and positive. Timid by nature, they are not aggressive in their approach to love. They send out vibrations of feelings to attract their intended, who they prefer is receptive on a psychic level.

Sexual Behaviors & Performance — Sexually, Geminis tend to be versatile. Top Geminis They like it with the light on in front of the mirror. They can work any sexual partner into the mood because they know exactly how to evoke the right responses.
