How to setup an A/B testing experiment on MockingFish?

MockingFish provides an economical yet efficient A/B testing tool to the testers. With its A/B split testing and various usability testing options, MockingFish is a multi-testing program that provides so many options to the testers. Audience targeting, URL targeting, click heatmap tracking, scroll map tracking are some of the main features that you can easily notice. Here we are going to discuss how can you set up an A/B testing experiment using the MockingFish A/B testing tool. This tutorial will guide you to setup your first and error free A/B testing experiment on the tool. Get the A/B testing tool You can get your access to the tool by simply registering a user account on the MockingFish site. After completing the small registration, you will be eligible to use the App for free (currently it’s available for free one year trial).


Setup an A/B testing experimentOnce you complete the registration, you will be directed to the App interface where you can setup and deploy your experiment. When you are logged in for the first time, the first interface that you will see is for heatmap tool. You need to change it to the A/b testing by simply clicking on the “A/B testing� link on the header.


Once you are on the A/B testing interface, click on “Add New Project”

Next, provide a Project Name for your New project and Click “Add Project”

In the next interface, you can add an experiment to your testing project by simply clicking on “Add New Experiment”. It will take you to the Add New


Experiment page where you need to provide the following details to set up your experiment:

1. URL of the page which you want to test 2. Experiment Name and 3. An Optional short description about the experiment. After providing these details, click “Next� button to go to the further step.

Select the Experiment type as A/B test. Next, provide the start and end date of the experiment. PS: It is recommended to run the experiment for at least 30 days to receive more confident results.


The next interface you will see is the WYSIWYG editor view which will allow you to perform your modifications on the Variation page. Once you have configured the experiment, click on Save to save your experiment. And then hit the Start Experiment button to get the script that you will add on your site to deploy your experiment live.

Once you Click on the Start Experiment, you will be provided with a small script. Copy and install this script in the “<head>� section of the page code which your testing.

Right after you install the script on your page, the MockingFish tool will start tracking the page.
