t took me many years to find my “happy fabric place”. When I began making quilts almost 15 years ago, I was drawn to darker colors – bungundy, dark green and navy – but over time, I began to prefer bright, primary colors and a lot of white. Today, I know the colors and motifs that get me every time, and Sundrops embodies everything I love. From the “sherbet-y” mix of colors to the flower-filled prints, I hope you love these warm, golden shades of coral, yellow, green and gray as much as I do.

his collection started with a trip to the mall. While standing in the kids’ department of a favorite clothing store, we spotted a little t-shirt that read “The Tree House”. That was it! We added the word “club” because everything is better in a club, right? Sometimes we get lucky and find just the right theme, and that makes the designing process so much fun. The Treehouse Club is definitely one of our favorite collections because everything works so well together. From the tiny houses in the “clubhouse” to the colorful circles in the “tire-swing” design, every print relates to an actual tree house.

“Adventure is worthwhile in itself.” Amelia Earhart The town we live in is the birthplace of British aviation and has its own little airport that hosts an international air show on odd-numbered years. Everyone is swept along in the excitement when the air show is in town; the schools are closed and restaurants, pubs and shops are bustling with a holiday atmosphere. Every afternoon for a whole fortnight, we look to the skies and are treated to spectacular displays from vintage aeroplanes, display teams and stateof-the-art passenger jets. And of course, who amongst us doesn’t find the prospect of a jaunt on an aeroplane greatly exciting – all aboard for an adventure!

hile I’ve not sewn with much blue in the 35 years I’ve been making quilts, it seems that I’ve become quite smitten with teal in recent years. I love how this new “Jo” color plays with my favorite reds and browns, and of course with my “toasty” neutrals. adame Rouge grew out of an assortment of scraps found on the floor of the atelier of an old seamstress in France. Several antique French florals, a simple stripe and a monogram print had all been used to make beautiful bed covers, curtains and pillows. Perhaps Madame had used the prints to make dresses for the local ladies or her daughterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s dolls. Filled with the rich, signature mustard-yellows and reds of the south of France, Madame Rouge will bring a classic French look to your home and wardrobe!

y first collection, Gardenvale, was named after the area of Melbourne where my shop, Amitie Textiles, was located. This past year, the property was sold by the owners and is scheduled for demolition so I will be “moving on” to a new place. But my love of scrappy quilts and eclectic fabrics remains, and combining these “Moving On” lawns with my Lollies means there are over 70 different prints to play with.
