TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF, WHY YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO, AND YOUR JOURNEY SO FAR.
SINCE I WAS A CHILD I WAS ALWAYS MORE INTERESTED IN MAKE UP THEN CARS. I ALWAYS USE TO WATCH MY MOM WHEN SHE WAS GETTING READY TO GO SOMEWHERE. I DIDN'T KNOW WHY, BUT I WAS SO IMPRESSED, SO A FEW YEARS LATER I DECIDED TO HAVE A SOME PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP LESSONS. I REMEMBER I WAS 15 AND I WAS THE ONLY BOY IN THE ROOM FILLED WITH LADIES AND GIRLS. BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO SCHOOL AND MUSIC SCHOOL AFTERWARDS, I DIDN'T REALLY HAVE A LOT OF TIME FOR THIS, SO DIDN'T THINK ABOUT IT AS A PROFESSION. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T STOP ME FROM DOING MAKEUP TO MY FRIENDS AND THEIR MOMS AND MOMS FRIENDS. AFTER SCHOOL I MOVED TO LONDON. IT WASN'T EASY, I DIDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH, I DIDN'T KNOW ANYONE, SO IT TOOK TIME TO BECOME COMFORTABLE WITH MY LIFE. SINCE THEN I DONE A FEW COURSES AND STARTED TO WORK FREELANCE. I LOVE IT.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF PROGRESSING IN THE FIELD?
MY GOALS. GOOD QUESTION. WELL, I DON'T LIKE TO SHARE MY GOALS, AS I BELIEVE THAT THEY CAN BE REACHED ONLY IF KEPT IN SECRET, BUT I WILL TELL YOU COUPLE THAT I ALREADY ACHIEVED. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT OTHERS, BUT I LIKE TO START WITH REASONABLE AND LITTLE GOALS AND CLIMB STEP BY STEP TO MORE CHALLENGING ONES. SO WHEN I STARTED TO WORK AS A MAKEUP ARTIST, MY FIRST GOAL WAS TO HAVE MY WORK PUBLISHED IN MAGAZINES. THE NEXT ONE WOULD PROBABLY BE TO WIN AN AWARD. AND THE LIST GOES ON, BUT IT WILL STAY WITH ME FOR NOW.
HOW DO YOU COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE? ARE YOU PATIENT? ARE YOU FRIENDLY? HOW OPEN ARE YOU TO CLIENTS’ REQUIREMENTS?
I AM VERY EASY GOING AND FRIENDLY GUY, ALWAYS POSITIVE AND FUN TO BE AROUND I THINK. I AM VERY OPENMINDED TO CLIENTS' REQUIREMENTS, BUT IF I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE I LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT BEFORE START.
IF YOU HAD TO DO IT OVER AGAIN, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE?
WELL, I WAS YOUNG AND SHY, SO I ALWAYS HAD ISSUES WITH CONFIDENCE AND THAT WASN'T HELPING ME, ESPECIALLY TO START. I THINK, I WOULD TRY TO BE MORE CONFIDENT AND
WHO IS YOUR HERO, AND HOW HAVE THEY HELPED YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE?
I LOVE BEYONCÈ. SHE IS SO INSPIRING AND EXTRAORDINARY WOMAN. WHEN I'M UPSET OR FEEL STRESSED, I JUST LISTEN TO HER MUSIC AND IMMEDIATELY FEEL BETTER.
HOW IMPORTANT ARE CREATIVE EDUCATION COURSES? HAVE YOU TAKEN ANY, AND DID YOU FIND THEM USEFUL?
I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE CREATIVE EDUCATION FOR ANYONE, WHO IS JUST STARTING AND WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS INDUSTRY. IT SHOWS BASIC AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE, BUT THAT'S ABOUT IT. IN ORDER TO STAND OUT, YOU NEED A LOT MORE. YOU HAVE TO BE PASSIONATE, CREATIVE AND ORIGINAL. I HAVE TO BE HONEST, I THINK YOU CAN'T LEARN THESE THINGS, YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT IN YOU.
I HAD A FEW COURSES. ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT TEACH ME MORE CREATIVITY, IT TEACH ME ALL THE OTHER THINGS, NECESSARY START IN THIS CROWDED INDUSTRY. IT WAS VERY USEFUL.
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR SOMEONE WHO IS JUST STARTING OUT IN THE INDUSTRY?
I WOULD SAY, JUST BE ORIGINAL, BE GENUINE, AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE HAPPY AND COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!

What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? My goals are to shoot with many photographers all around the world for art or advertising and to showcase high fashion clothing brands. I see myself progressing very well. What do you know about advertising psychology and photography? I know that a single image or campaign can create a desire within a customers mind. I know about subliminal messages, capturing the right image, and marketing to the right demographic. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I communicate very well. I listen to others to get a grasp on their needs or feelings and engage in the chemistry we share. I am very open to the requirements of clients. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? I do both eat nutritiously and exercise at least three times a week! What is your dream role as a model? Being the face for high fashion campaigns, magazines, and sharing my voice for the people.
Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far. This journey started with me creating a quote that would fuel my passion for modeling and personal growth. "When all else seems to fail, enlighten the world with your presence." It is imperative for anyone who has a passion to take hold of it, never wait for society to dictate your destiny. I was raised by a family who always taught me to never settle or allow anyone to disrespect or insult a character they worked so hard to define. It is my duty to protect my image...it is my duty to be the best individual possible not just for me but because this world needs more great people publicized! Modeling for me is a journey of personal growth and a strong desire to enlighten the world with the real me: Alexis Manson. What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field? My first goal is to strategically build a network of support systems from all walks of life. You may ask how? Never turn down an opportunity in your passion arena. You miss out on meeting people in your ballpark. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I am one of the nicest individuals you meet. On my social media platforms I set aside time each day to respond to all those who took the time to like or comment on my journey. People do not realize how important it is for me to hear such positive feedback, it fuels me. Saying thank you is a start to build relationships with people. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? Not one thing. I am who I am because of hiccups. You can't become wise without sometimes falling. Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are? My grandmother who is 96, a women dear to my heart. it was her work ethic and honest nature that has made me who I am. How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful? I have not but I am very willing to seek out opportunities in my passion arena. Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry? Yes, first and foremost create your own brand. A brand is a solid representation of "you" - once you have created the foundation, you just keep moving upwards.

Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career? Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :) My work and passion are Fashion Industry. I am 25yrs old, and I have decided to quit smoking. Health and Wellness are important for me. It's not just to satisfy my ego with the way I look but most importantly I want to have a healthy life with the good physical condition for a long, long, time. So besides going to gym, I play football and do water sports when I go on vacation. I love travelling, both leisure and work related because I believe travelling will make a person more humble and learn and respect different cultures; I am a food and wine enthusiast. I am not into partying, my ideas of enjoying life is a balance of good work, being connected with family, my times in the sun, sports, a memorable vacation, a soothing chill lounge music.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? Learning by Doing; Self-Learning from sophisticated sources.
What do you think makes someone “fit to be a model? When the Basic Requirement meets. But today, we have more respect towards Uniqueness and Being Different. Many brands have involved Handicapped Models, and for me they are inspiring, to make me do better. Good Attitude is a plus in this Industry; It's not always the Clothes that makes the man; it's Our Character that makes the brand stands out.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? Being a model for a long time is my priority, but it is not the only goal I try to achieve in my life. I have studied and did business before, and I am looking into Fashion Industry and Retail for my next long career.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography? We live in the modern world where Media and Advertisements play big role in society. I know enough to work with or promote brands or companies that sell or give good influences to people.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I am open to client requirements as I also have an open mind and open opinion. I am a straight forward kind of person in my work. I am Patient and Friendly in my capacity. One thing for sure, I am an honest work-man, and I expect the same in return. I am focused on my work, and always give my best in any circumstances.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? When it's possible, I will do my best to go to Gym and Football Everyday. I relax one day or two per week to let my muscle rest and have some sun for my skin. I am not picky in my eating habit, but I eat mostly healthy food because I believe that "We are What We Eat.
What is your dream role as a model? A Healthy and Fit Model to Inspire the Younger Generation to see that a Professional Model like myself who lives healthy, doesn't smoke, doesn't do drugs, eat right, not partying hard, enjoy a serene (calm) life, DOES EXIST -
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? My limitations and boundaries are connected to my selfrespect.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours? I can travel. Full time or Part time are Varies according to each job as well as the timing.

THE THOUGHT OF TRAVELLING TO
PLACES I'D NEVER OTHERWISE GO
AND PEOPLE I'LL GET TO INTERACT WITH ON A CREATIVE BASIS IN THE FUTURE KEEPS ME INSPIRED.
“ I'M CONSTANTLY MAKING NEW GOALS THAT PUSH MYSELF. ” I'M ALWAYS A WORK IN PROGRESS.
How did you get to where you are now in your career? I began as both a photographer and model around the same time, so it's a unique blend. I grew up playing football, and then a few injuries later, I transitioned into the fitness scene and photographers were reaching out to photograph me, and getting reached out to from agencies. I was pretty star-struck at the time because that didn't happen around where I grew up. At the same time, I was studying photography in Mississippi, mainly as a fun elective. In turn, I enjoyed the whole process, and it came naturally to me, being able to relate to people on the other side of the camera. I wanted to give them the feeling that I got when I first got some professional photos taken. What is your opinion on modelling education? It's really easy for photographers to take good pictures of trained models, but I always think a good photographer can teach a model what he or she wants and the right look to give the camera. It's not always about "A pretty picture". I feel like some trained models have their go-to poses and it's hard to get them out of them for something different. I think knowledge of body awareness and expression is key, but don't get trapped in your usual flow! What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero? That's a tough call since there are too many people! I always look to the top people in any field for inspiration. There's so much I can learn from people in other walks of life, and I think the most interesting part of photography isn't photography, it's capturing an idea or inspiration. On the photography side, Steve Carver here in Los Angeles, Lara Jade, Peter Hurley, and too many others to mention. Do you feel like you've met your goals? No, not at all. I'm always a work in progress. I'm constantly making new goals that push myself. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? More communication with the clients, both before and after the shoots. A lot of photographers work differently, so it's important to educate people on how you work. Also, I'm always wondering what the people I worked with in the past are up to, and social media helps bridge the gap, but I feel like I need to hold more parties to invite them to. Â Do you have any tips? Make people look good, and you'll do fine. Also, put a lot of work into a marketing plan and networking, because if people don't know who you are, you're probably not going to get hired by them. Â How do you stay inspired? The thought of travelling to places I'd never otherwise go and people I'll get to interact with on a creative basis in the future keeps me inspired. 99% of the jobs I do are fun. The other 1% go down as awkward stories. What photography do related things you recommend? Look at all the free tutorials and information there is online. It's mind-blowing to see how much is out there. Also, I'll say it again.. make people look good. What's your favourite camera? The Nikon D810 is amazing. Its dynamic range to capture so many details in the hardest environments is stellar. Also, it's very reliable and has never let me down. Â What is your most memorable experience so far? I was photographing headshots for a client downtown in a sketchy area, and so I had brought some pepper spray on my keychain. As I crouched down for the perfect shot, the pepper spray went off in my pocket (facing inward), and hilarity ensued. (not really)

Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far. I am an intelligent and talkative little girl. I can speak two languages fluently and like to role-play characters with my parents. I am a child model and have featured in one TV commercial. I am passionate about Peppa Pig and Mr. Bean and reading. What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field? Next year I will do a photoshoot with TJ Manou in LA and find a good agent in the USA to start modeling there as well as go to acting school. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I am a four-year-old, so my parents guide me. I am very patient and friendly and have a good work ethic. I can work for 3 hours or more and my best quality is that when people explain to me why we need to do things a certain way, I accept and do it. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? Wouldn't change anything. I am still growing up and discovering myself. Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are? Mum and Dad and my two aunties. They have taught me good manners and the importance of being polite with my words and to listen to instructions carefully. How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful? I haven't taken any. Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry? Smile from your heart.
Keep Shooting! High or low times, keep shooting, idle or busy times, keep shooting. Don't always settle for the recipe your fed, be daring enough to challenge yourself.

How did you get to where you are now in your career? I was once told by a professor in college that I should give up on fashion and drive a truck. Years later that same professor approached me for work. The moral here is to just follow through on your dream and don't let anyone derail you. This is how I continue to be successful. Stay professional and stay on track! What is your opinion on modeling education? I have a fashion design background. I attended F.I.T. in New York, but prior to that I worked as a stylist, tailor and freelance designer. I was always involved in the fashion industry, so as for my being involved with models it was all a part of it. Had this not been the case, I would say that modeling education is pretty important. It's not all about posing. You have to express an emotion or reveal a layer of yourself which isn't easy for everyone to pull off. What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero? I would first say my mother, who worked in the garment district in New York City. She took me to her office one day and once I saw the drafting tables and all of the textiles designs, I was hooked. I immediately went home and started taking apart my clothing and changing the patterns. Second, I would have to say Designer Bryon Lars. I use to sit in the F.I.T. student library and watch videos of his fashion shows for hours. Lastly Gordon Parks, once I saw the possibilities I was off and running. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? Nothing! I have learned from every successful event as well as every failure. I am happy with who I am and that's all do to highs and lows in your life. The highs keep you wanting more and the lows push me to do better. Do you have any tips? I would asked them to really question how bad they really want it becuase it does not start off glamorous. I have seen very talented people through in the towel on their dreams becuase one thing didn't go their way. You don't necessarily do the thing you love for notoriety. You just love doing it. So I would really just question their motivation.
How do you stay inspired? Just look around you. I am inspired by everything. People, places, things and so on. I also have a close group of creative friends that leads to friendly competition between each other so we are constantly pushed. What photography related things do you recommend? Keep Shooting! High or low times, keep shooting, idle or busy times, keep shooting. Don't always settle for the recipe your fed, be daring enough to challenge yourself. What's your favourite camera? Hasselblad 500C/M - I just love the feel and look of it. I often wrap my shoots with a roll of film What is your most memorable experience so far? I was doing a body painting shoot and the model showed up sick. She kept say she just needed to lay down for a minute but kept throwing up in my trash can. I told her there is absolutely no way this is going to work. Everything your feeling right now will come accross in the pictures. Knowing she had to leave and that I had everything booked already for this session, I quickly had to book another model and wait for her to arrive. what would have been a 4 hour shoot ended up being 8-12 hours but it looked great in the end Client can contact me directly for rates. http:// PATMAS karen patma s.com What’s New Karen Patmas? My accomplishments so far in modeling are a combination of work I have done and invaluable experiences that enhanced personal growth and development. I have a strong belief that regardless of how experienced and developed our career may be, there is always room for more learning and developing. Personal development is a never-ending process, we are changing daily. It is up to the individual to choose if that change is in a positive direction or not. I have appeared in several advertisements, been a brand ambassador for an athletic clothing company, acquired two local agents, mentored a group of models in the Northwest, have done model scouting, and been a talent director. I have also recently added a brand manager.
