JOELL GRACE PERRY
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career? I'm a 14 year old, and at age 5 I realised I always wanted to be in front of the camera. As I got older I started making my own videos, acting, and pretending I was a fashion model. I live in the country in Iowa, so there aren't many opportunities for acting or modelling. My parents enrolled me in a small Musical Theater Production Company and my acting coach encouraged me to spread my wings. I told my parents I wanted to act and learn more and go on auditions. In 2014 I auditioned for AMTC (Actors Models, & Talent for Christ). I got in the program however all my classes would be held in Chicago about 4 1/2 hours away. My parents knew this was what I really wanted to do so they made the commitment to drive me to my classes ever other week. Towards the end of my program I grew, and one month before my graduation from ATMC I was told I should enter the Fashion Modeling divisions as well. In January 2016 I graduated from the program and received many call backs from various modelling and acting agencies. After much prayer my parents signed me with Brita Jackson from Arquette Talents in Minneapolis. How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? I have attending modeling course through AMTC and Arquettes. I'm home schooled and 14 years old, but I'm ahead on my studies. I continue my acting classes as well. By August 2016 I have completed 3 weeks Acting for Film from the New York Film and Academy, where I received a scholarship. My parents have taught me this industry is a marathon and not a race. I always want to and will continue to learn about modeling/acting. What do you think makes someone “fit to be a model? I have learned that modeling is hard work. Before I started I just thought it was all about "just being in front of the camera." My agent has taught me eating properly, regular exercise, and a positive frame of mind is what I need to have. Since I also act I have been able to use my acting skills during a photo shoot when the photographer is asking for a certain kind of emotion. Improv also helps with modeling. I believe someone fit to be a model must have all the skills as I talked about. But, most of all I have learned to never compare myself to other models. God made each of us different with different beauties and different talents. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? My goal is continue to learn, continue to grow, and continue to be open minded to improvement. Of course my goal is to be success but I do realize and know I'm just starting off and it will take a lot of hard work. I have learned that for every yes I get for a booking, I have received 100 no's. But I keep persevering and not let that get me down.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography? I'm 14 years old and I'm still learning about all of it. I know I represent the product I'm modeling for so its important I set a good example. I don't know much about advertising psychology but I'm willing to learn and I have learned a lot from the different photographers I have worked with. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I have been told I'm very easy going and I take direction really well. When I'm on a shoot I love to talk to the make up artist, stylist, and photographers and learn about them. I believe it's important to build friendships and relationships in the industry. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? Yes, I eat very good. I live on a hobby farm and we have a huge garden. I help my mom can and freeze all of our veggies for the winter. I also have a lot of chores on the hobby farm. We raise our own laying hens, so we have fresh eggs all the time. Plus I help with other chores. I exercise with my mom daily. What is your dream role as a model? My dream as a model is to set the example as you don't have to show your body off to be beautiful. I have a lot of 9-10 year old girls who follow me on Instagram and I feel I need to encourage and let them see that you can be clothed and beautiful all at the same time. Never lower your standards and beliefs just for money. I have turned down opportunities because I did not feel comfortable with the job and I don't want myself seen like that. I want to represent the pure and young. Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? I will not shoot nude or anything that is provocative for my age. I will not shoot with another girl in a sexual way either. My agent knows this and has been very good at honoring my request. My parents have taught me that times are changing but it is important that I represent my self as they call it "the old school way". State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours? I'm home schooled, my flexibility is open and yes I would travel. Tell us what's your memorable experience so far. My most memorable experience is when I won VIP Choice Award 2016 for Fashion Model at my AMTC graduation January 2016.
“
Most of all I have learned to never compare myself to other models. God made each of us different with different beauties and different talents.

Im a typical 14 year old who has dreams of becoming a famous model, but as I'm learning in the industry it is a lot of hard work. My parents have kept me grounded and my agent Brita Jackson (Arquette and Associates) has taught me a lot of what I need to do, how I need to act, how I need to live my life, how to stay healthy, and how to stick to my beliefs. She has taught me there is more to modeling then what I originally had thought. Â My aspiration is to continue to learn, grow, take criticisms as it comes and not take it personally. To keep an open mind and to always have the desire to learn, to never think I know it all. Most of all even if I don't become a known famous model I still want to impact other peoples lives by setting an example and embracing who you are, and never to compare who you are to other models, actors, and society. Because God created you for who you are.

What inspired you to start fashion label? After my studies at Sciences Po Paris, I worked in the fashion industry for Dior, Chloé, and Lacoste to name a few. It was a dream come true, especially since fashion has the privilege to be a very concrete world: you draw something, and a few efforts later it's a real piece of clothing that you can wear and see worn. It gave me the strength and confidence to launch my label. I had this creativity and ideas burning in me; I needed a way to make them come true. Who is behind fashion label? Cheyma Ben Hassine, a 27-year-old French girl with a bachelor in political sciences and masters in fashion and luxury marketing with a passion for fashion and everything girly! And a great team of excellent contributors we can never thank enough. How many team members do you have right now on board? Right now it's only me, Cheyma, the artistic director and founder of the eponymous brand. But we're looking for a business manager and interns! So spread the word. Also, I would like to mention that the atelier has been doing the amazing work! We love all your products! The products are amazing and superb, how long do you create them? It all starts with the idea of a theme; it can be triggered by a conversation with someone, a lady passing on the street, or a good book. Once the theme is selected, it doesn't take much time to draw the whole collection, but it takes the world to let it settle for a while to decide which pieces will make the final cut. Afterwards, it's all conception and finishings. The whole process can take up to 4 months. What is your vision for your fashion label? Cheyma keeps nowadays women in mind at all times. We want to provide them with comfy-chic clothes that they will feel confident and powerful wearing.
What are your customer's most favourite collections? The Whimsy Canyon one, the last one, had a big success. We presented it in February during the New York Fashion Week, it then waits to Paris, London, Dubai, and soon China. What is your personal favourite collection? I always say "this is my best collection!" When I'm working on a new one, so right now I'd say the collection that I'll present in New York next September. Hope you'll be there to see the show! How did you discover a need for this type of product in the marketplace? As all woman I'm sure, I get up every day struggling in front of my wardrobe: should I wear something comfortable and not look my best or endure a whole day in a chic attire (let's be honest, few chic clothes are comfortable). I have had enough of this dilemma and decided to create both comfortable yet sophisticated piece that could be worn from dawn to dusk without the need to change. What has been the most challenging aspect of getting your brand off the ground and how did you overcome that? Being known has been and still is the most difficult obstacle. People would love what you do, should they only knew you existed. Fortunately enough, people are very responsive to authenticity and feel the hard work behind our creations. What are two aspects of business in which you believe a new brand should invest resources? Image is the key. A brand should invest a lot in this aspect to be sure to precisely share its universe. You can have a fabulous collection and perfect clothes, if you take a picture of them with your phone, it's all useless. And communication, we live in a world where people are so easily reachable and more than happy to discuss with you. As a brand, you need to be talkative and eager to share with your audience.

What are the services that consumers can take advantage of from your company? They can enjoy a piece of the Cheyma dream, become part of the CheymaGirl family (and soon CheymaBoy!), and proudly wear our comfy-chic whimsical pieces. Any pieces of advice for young entrepreneurs who want to open similar labels like yours? Have no fear; you'll have no regrets. How do our readers buy your products? Do you ship internationally? They can do so on our e-boutique, www.cheyma.com; we do ship all around the world. Do you collaborate with fashion blogger? How do you collaborate with them? We do a lot! Cheyma wouldn't be what it is without the great women who inspire the brand every single day. Bloggers are part of them. Some reach out to us, other times we set our eye on one we are particularly fond of, and then it's a match!

MODEL
KRISTINAPAKHOMOVA
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career? I am a Russian actress and model living in Singapore. I act for theatre, film and TV. Apart from acting I am also a writer, creative director and a voice over. Last year I wrote, directed and acted in my own one-woman show "Dark Room" and have been performing it in multiple locations in Singapore. It is a story about an Expat wife who straggles with her life choices, identity and family. How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? Living and working in Singapore I found it's quite easy to find work without any prior modeling training. I just networked a lot and learn on a job. Plus my acting skills helped me a lot during photo and video shoots. What do you think makes someone “fit to be a model? Being confident about my body and who I am is very important to me. To have my own voice is crucial. Confidence is sexy and people can feel it. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? Frankly speaking I always address myself as an actress first and then a model. I think it gives me lots of character, which really helps me in the modeling industry too. So my goal is to keep progressing in both acting and modeling skills to gain success, getting to know more professional and talented people and travel the world. What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography? The advertisement industry can be very demanding, but if it's really good - it allows creativity to flow. This is the kind of industry I want to be a part of.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I always stay professional no matter what and I am nice and friendly to people who behave professionally too. If I feel like someone is wasting my time I'll do my best to complete the job and have fun, but I'll make a mental note to never work with them again. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? I'm a gym rat. I love running, interval training, yoga and I always follow my healthy diet. But every now and then I have my cheat days and try to never feel guilty about that.
What is your dream role as a model? I admire many strong women. One of them is Meryl Streep. When she was still young and unknown, film producers and casting directors called her "ugly" and she really struggled to find her inner voice and become confident, but she did it. That's what makes her a kick-ass actress.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? As an actress I have to think twice when I accept any modeling job and think how would that affect my reputation in the future. This is just something I have to be aware of. So for now I choose not to do nude shoots. Let's see if I'll change my mind some day :)
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours? I love my work and I love traveling. So when combined it's even better. And yes I do it full time.
"I admire many strong women. One of them is Meryl Streep. When she was still young and unknown, film producers and casting directors called her “ugly"..."
"My aspiration in life is storytelling in all possible ways: whether its through the images or movies or theatre plays. As an actress, model, writer or director. I will do my best to stay determined and committed to this as long as I can and as long as my creative mind can handle. “

MAKEUPARTIST/MODEL
YULAN ERICA
For me, doing make up is a way to do art and express the creativity of my soul. Makeup, therefore, is something very powerful to me. It is full of challenges, and it requires talent, experience, patience, fantasy and brilliant ideas to master this art. Why did you choose this profession? I believe that beauty matters to every individual woman on t his planet. Therefore, the possibilities are almost endless. With my work I can make people happy, that is one of the most beautiful things for me. Personally, I am also very interested in fashion, where to make up plays a big role. As a makeup artist, I work close with the fashion and film industry – that’s very exciting! What are the biggest challenge makeup artists have to face? For me it is mastering wedding makeup. I am very passionate about contributing everything possible to the most beautiful day of two loving ones. I put all my passion into bridal makeups and always challenge myself to achieve amazing results. I am very passionate and confident about my art, and I see competition as a positive challenge. Every day I give my best, expand my creativity and make my customers happy. If a customer asks for a style that you are sure would not suit them, how do you convince the customer to go otherwise? I love working together with my clients and therefore always try to advise them in their best interest. In a case where I see a problem with the wish of a customer, I would carefully explain what my doubts are and how we can improve the ideas of my customer to achieve an outstanding result. How do you prepare dry and oily skin for foundation makeup application? Before I start with my work, I carefully analyse the skin of my client and ask them about it. Based on that I am choosing the best suitable products and techniques.
Do you have any experience in cosmetic retails? No, I don't have experience in retail. Tell us about your experience as a makeup artist? I work in the industry since almost ten years. When I started, I was very lucky to be able to learn from the best makeup artists at that time. Since then, I have worked with so many amazing talents and clients that I built up a very diverse skillset and strong portfolio (Please check out: www.yulanmakeupartist.com). n the past, I have successfully run my beauty salon with six employees. But what I enjoy the most, is to work as a freelancer and collaborate with other great artists. Do you apply makeup for special events? Name some you have covered? Weddings are in my opinion the most special events . That’s where my main passion is and what my clients also outside from Indonesia appreciate the most. Therefore, I travel often quit within Southeast Asia and Australia to work for beautiful weddings. In Bali where I stay, I have worked for all major events like “Design Dope L a u n c h ” , “ F a s h i o n S h ow B a l i ” , “ S u m m e r F e s t i v i t i e s Ku t a B a l i ” , “Fashion Cabaret” and “Red Carpet Champagne Bar”. What is t he dif f erence between applying makeup for a TV shoot and applying makeup for a live appearance party? The makeup for TV shoots depends on the theme of the show and must harmonise with the whole environment and scene played. There is also a lot of communication with the director and management team involved. TV make up usually has a thick base, high countering and thick foundation to make a soft and smoother look on the TV camera. Party makeup, on the other hand, is something very induvial and unique where glamour looks and smokey eyes play a dominant role. Therefore, a thin base and neutral cheeks are often applied.
How often do you clean your makeup tools such as brushes and combs? How does it affect the wear and tear of your tools and how do you feel about the associated expense? My tools are carefully washed, sterilised or even replaced after each client. The highest possible hygienic standard and amazing overall customer experience is a key element of my service. Therefore, it is a matter of course that I only work with the best available tools and products. How do you determine a client’s undertone before you decide what makeup technique to use? I carefully analyse my client and determine the state of its skin type, facial shape, skin colour but also try to understand its personality and type. Based on that I will discuss my ideas with the client and involve him/her in the process of creating something beautiful together. What experiences do you have apart from making up characters apart from using typical makeup techniques? In addition to my work as a makeup artist, I also work as a beauty consultant for various salons, spa’s and hospitality companies where I train the staff. Due to increasing demand, I am also offering private classes, courses and coachings. Tell us your most memorable experience so far? It all started from a dream! I was born on the beautiful island of Java, and I am blessed that I grew with strong influences of the rich and exotic Sundanese culture. When I was 15 years old, I heard stories about the magical Island of Bali. From then on it was my dream to be in Bali and live a beautiful and colourful life on the beach. Then four years later, I was finally able to wander over to the magical island of gods. First I started modelling and singing because it made me happy and felt free. After that, I got my makeup diplomas from the famous beauty schools “Martha Tilaar” in Jakarta and “makeup forever” in Singapore. Since then, I am living my dream and my profession as a makeup artist has brought so many beautiful colours and people in my life. Life is a blessing, and I am here to embrace life as much as I can. That’s why I love to connect with people and to achieve greatness and happiness together. Because everything starts with a dream.

LUNGILE MATYILA
Tell us something really awesome about you? I started photography with a Canon 1100D that I bought at a pawnshop; this was after I saw a friend's camera and it left me with sleepless nights, I knew I had to get one. It was then I had to learn all the basics of photography which taught me a lot in dealing with models and of course getting out of my comfort zone, from that point I knew I wanted to be a full-time photographer. After several months of working hard trying to improve on my shots, I knew I had to give in to the calling, which led me to resign at my workplace after seven years of great career. I then took all my pension fund money and invested in my gear, studio, etc. Since then I never looked back… How did you get to where you are now in your career? I have attended a couple of workshops and also I host my workshops, constantly I'm on youtube learning and watching new things. If models can also do the same to improve their work, it will be great What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero? Myself, with all the knocks and punches I have taken in life only to bounce back a better and stronger being. Do you feel like you’ve met your goals and are successful? Honestly, I'm still at the beginning of my career. Greatness is slowly paving its way my way... If you had to do it over again, what would you change? Nothing, I'm content with the decisions and actions I have taken thus far. What advice would you give someone who is young and wants to have a position such as yours one day? The world greatly rewards those that stay true to themselves, be you and do you :) ... How do you stay inspired? Photography is a calling for me, so I just follow it. What photography related things do you recommend? Learn all styles of shooting until you find that one style that will best suit you... What's your favourite camera? My Canon 6D
PEOPLE’S CHOICE
Tell us, what advice could you give to people who will be writing their entry to us? In life everything requires patience, it doesn’t matter how good you think you’re without patience there will never be greatness. Model Citizen App is growing by day and people across the globe who are best in what they do just like you, also want to become part of this great opportunity and it will only make sense to be patient and wait for your turn and if it doesn’t come sooner than you expect to keep on sharpening your skills and talents before you know it you will have a super awesome profile that will make it anywhere in the world and oh don’t forget to be nice it really helps. Always remember this; any brand/company loves good publicity if you can reach out more by sharing and helping them out they will check your profile with great interest and plus you will be doing great to the community of photography and modelling. What are we expecting from you? I’m currently preparing for my talk on Africa’s biggest photo and film expo that will take place from the 27th October in South Africa. There after I am doing my 2nd photography workshop that I’m planning in November and of course, I will continue doing more shoots and hopefully an international tour soon. What would be your greatest shortest dream? My greatest and shortest dream is teaming up with international and local brands like Model Citizen App and do tours/workshops internationally that will help share knowledge meet new people and inspire those that need inspiration. Tell us more about where you came from? Our readers have asked if you could tell us the smooth inspiring story as a photographer, on top what of what you already have told us. I come from a township called Soweto, which is situated in the South West of Johannesburg, Soweto has a rich history that has helped shape our country to what it is today. A bit of continuation from where I left…. After I invested on my photography gear with my pension fund investment with all the excitement to concur the world, I had bought couple of lenses that I thought were the real deal only to learn at a later stage that the lenses I had purchased were actually the worst investment ever since they were not meant for portrait professional photographers. I remember when I was told that, I could hear the sales persons voice crystal clear on my ears saying “If you want to be better in photography buy these lenses” and I did not know I was falling in the sales trap ha ha ha… What more can you expect from a sales person? That moment I learned a valuable lesson; invest in knowledge firstly, then equipment and then get a mentor that will help in guiding you on your way to success or be like me then and enjoy getting more punches before reaching your main goal. More than anything, like in a game of chess; passion and patience are what gets you a crown.

FASHION DESIGNER
CHANTLE WHITE
At what age did you start becoming fascinated with fashion? My love for fashion started as far back as a kid. My mother ran a small tailoring business, even though I wasn't influenced by that, it helped to feed my creativity because I had the opportunity to get cloths made to my specific design. I would go to our local market to get cheap fabrics and I always loved the finished look every time! How did you prepare for a career in styling? As Joane Rivers once said, style is like herpes, you either have it or you don't. As a creative mind, my creativity cuts across events, fashion and design industry. I started with venue decorations for friends and family who knew my capability and at the same time, I did a couple of interior designs, decorating homes for friends, friends of friends and family and also held jewellery parties amongst small groups where I would take loads of jewelries with me, and accessorise the outfit they came with usually for weddings and birthdays. I also held tea parties and organised a couple of jewellery exhibitions in London and abroad. How do you stay updated on the current trends? I used to invest heavily on fashion and interior magazines from subscription but now with the internet, I am more online which is best for current trends. Having said that I buy magazines once a while especially for long journeys on train and flights. I do have a lot of books on fashion and interior as reference too. How important is Fashion Week for you? Fashion week is super important for people like myself as, its a way of keeping afloat of new and unique trends, new designers new styles, new use of fabrics and unique collections.
What is your dream job? My dream job is to be recognised as a designer and style actress or reality stars for big occasions so do contact me and I will gladly oblige! What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself taking your styling career? Well, as a wardrobe stylist, I would like to work with a pop or R and B artist. I love the idea of creating a different style every time. Name the top three things in your styling kit that are must-haves? Needle, thread and fabric glue. Tell us your most unforgettable experience as a stylist? I think that would be styling a music video last year. This sprung from the urge to style an artist. I contacted Jaye Moni and sold myself as a stylist and convinced her to let me direct the video. It was my first and an experience I would do again but this time on a reasonable budget. You can check it our here! Favourite all time designer? My favourite all time designer will be Michael Costello. He knows how to make a woman look beautiful and sexy in long dresses. Advice for the up-and-coming fashion stylists up there? First and foremost, know what you are good at and capitalise on it. In creativity, no two people are the same. Unless you are stealing someone else's work, you will always be unique and sought after. Start with styling yourself, friends and family and keep records with social media. Its also good to collaborate and expand your network with photographers, MUA and models. Join social styling groups so you get information about who needs what, and opportunities will come to you. Favourite model? moonyui@hotmail.com She is a natural. Favourite photographer? @duduimages. Because we understand each other work-wise which helps!

MODEL
DANIEL YOON
Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career? Hello, my name is Daniel Yoon. I’m half Korean, half German currently living in Seoul, South Korea and working as a mixed model. I love to travel, meet interesting people, and I love all the creative aspects one encounters when working professionally as a model. It’s always an amazing experience working with a team of dedicated people who strive to create the best possible outcome during a photo shoot. When the team and the atmosphere are on point during a shoot, it can be tr ul y inspiring. I studied industrial design and worked in London, the UK for a very famous internationally renowned designer for two years. It was in London where the doors to the modelling industry opened up. I had been working in Notting Hill and was spotted walking in Portobello Road, a street I frequented for lunch. As I worked full time, I didn’t have much time to commit to modelling entirely but gave it a try when time permitted. Having worked as a designer in the creative field, I can relate to the fashion industry on a personal level. This puts me in an advantageous position to other models as I understand the job description, roles and criteria necessary. It allows me to foresee the vision and deliver accordingly. I moved to Seoul, South Korea after London and this is where I am currently residing. I have been in contact with various agencies over here and am now pursuing a career in modelling full time. Ho w i m p o r t a n t i s m o d e l l i n g e d u c a t i o n : Ha v e y o u a t t e n d e d modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken? I have not had any formal training as a model but ha ve been for tunate enough to have been put in a position that has allowed me to learn and educate myself about the fashion industry. My previous job as a designer as fore mentioned; meant that those involved in shoots continuously surrounded me and watched many projects from inception to completion that has given me the necessar y knowledge needed as a model thus far.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model? What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field? Despite the physical attributes that come with the job description, I think you have to be good with people. Dealing with different characters is part of the job, and sometimes you will have to work with people you don’t necessarily share a connection with but have to work alongside for the sake of the job. I find that it is always possible to find a way to approach people and create some rapport which in turn makes the job more pleasurable and fun. I also believe that you have to have a particular character and style to be a model. That being said, you don’t necessarily have to be super good looking or in perfect shape because there are so many agencies and companies that al l look for something different. Staying true to yourself in this industry is critical, one should always have a realistic idea of their career goals and keep them in mind. Based in Seoul now and working full time as a model has given me the motivation and platform to take the next step and work internationally. I have been in contact with a few agencies in Asia now but am looking to branch out further. I love working with interesting people and welcome anyone to contact me regarding future projects. Looking a little further down the line, I hope to one day be a representative of the great fashion houses in London, Paris, New York and Milan. What do you know about the advertisement i n d u s t r y, a d v e r t i s i n g p s y c h o l o g y a n d photography? During my studies, I worked as a photographer in Germany and learnt about the technical aspects of photography. This inspired me and had been a massive influence behind how I got into taking pictures myself. Whenever I travel, I love to explore new places and am always with a camera in hand. When I was working as a product designer in London, I had to work closely with creatives, namely the Art and Creative Directors and learnt pretty quickly how to communicate with them. The p s y c h o l o g i c a l a s p e c t s we r e f r e q u e n t l y discussed, and it was amazing to see how much thought and effort goes into the planning to create the desired emotions in the final product. The emotional ties linked to the industry is definitely what makes the job interesting and more fulfilling. In the end, you have this incredible picture that can move you just by looking at it. When all elements come together and work harmoniously in a picturethat is when you know, it’s well done, and a piece of art has been created.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? That’s an interesting question. Communication has always come easy to me and therefore thought behind my communication skills has never really been a topic of discussion. I’m interested in the people that surround me, and I’m always aware of my immediate environment so I just start talking- as easy as that:) My friends have mentioned that it is amazing to see how adaptable I am and how I can get along with most people. I think that if you approach anyone with an open and tolerable heart, you have nothing to lose. Respect and tolerance are very important to me. If you respect and accept others, you allow for a level of reliability, and this is matched with the same manner. I truly believe that we would have fewer wars on this planet if everyone would have more respect for one another. Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? I eat clean, and I do some form of workout every day. If you want to be successful in the fashion industry, you have to be in good shape. Thankfully for me that’s easy as I have always loved sports. I’ve been an athlete my whole life and my body has been conditioned to expect it as well. I love trying different types of sports and movements, and this tends to keep the workout process exciting, and less monotonous than the standard gym workout. Since being in Korea, I have started break dancing, and the scene here is amazing. I’m also a vegetarian which makes my diet routine rather than something I have to think about, making it easier to stick to a healthier meal plan. You automatically eat healthier once you quit eating animal products. As a matter of fact, it’s a complete misconception that our bodies need animal products to be healthy. I also believe that we should treat every living creature on this earth like we want to be treated ourselves.
What is your dream role as a model? I don’t have a dream role as a model. I enjoy modelling, but that is not what defines me as a person. My dream role in life is to be a good example for others. For me, inspiring people is very rewarding and satisfying. I want to show people how to live in peace and that making people happy instead of hurting them is the way forward. If you do good things in life, good things will come back to you. Think positive and believe in yourself and in what you are doing. Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request? The sky is the limit! I love challenges and as a curious person, I do everything that pushes me to my limits and broadens my perspective. State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours? As an amateur, that is my primary focus at the moment. I want to work full time as a model and of course I would love to travel wherever they need me. Tell us what's your memorable experience so far. I’m very grateful to have lived a happy life so f a r, a n d I h a v e a c c u m u l a t e d m a n y memorable experiences up until now. However, a very memorable moment that is connected with fashion would be a memory from when I was ten years old. I understood the concept of quality and value and used this as an entrepreneurial skill. I had seen first hand how important clothing was to certain people and how it could create a whole identity- this got me thinking. I sorted out clothes that my family members weren’t using anymore and went through everybody’s closet asking, “Do you still wear that? Can I have it?” Once I had enough clothes, I would go to the nearby vintage store and sell the clothes. The shop owner was rather impressed with my choices and bought all the clothes I had brought along. Unfortunately, the shop doesn’t exist anymore; it would be great talking to the lady now.

FASHION DESIGNER
PILARLLAMAS
Tell us about yourself.
My name its Pilar Llamas, I’m from Mula a little town from Spain Murcia, I’m 23 and fashion designer. At what age did you start becoming fascinated with fashion?
The truth’s that I always wanted to be a fashion designer; I remember a day from when I was 4 or 5 my mother asked me. You want to wear the dresses you draw, or you want to create them? I tell her that I want to create new clothes, and she tells me that the was a fashion designer, from that moment, every time someone asked me what I wanted to be I was so convinced in my answer. How did you prepare for a career in styling?
Having so clear what I wanted to in the future I began to develop from an early age. I went to art and painting classes in elementary school. I also studied Visual Arts and Design in high school. Then I studied fashion design at the art college in Murcia (Spain) and also last year I made a designer course of footwear and accessories in Elda (Spain) How important is Fashion Week for you?
I think that fashion weeks are so important for young designers like me because they lay us show our art and meet different type of people. What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be the leading designer of a reputable brand while owning my fashion brand Pilar Llamas, although my main goal is always devoted to fashion, work in fashion. What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself taking your designing career?
My plans are to design new collections to let me know in all kinds of contests and fashion shows, work in a fashion company and learn languages. Name the top three things in your designing kit that are musthaves? The three most important things in my design kit are paper, pen and pins. Tell us your most unforgettable experience as a designer? That was the first time I came out to greet the end of my first fashion show in Valencia fashion week; I think that was the first time I cried from happiness. Favourite all time designer? I could not choose just a favourite designer of all time because I tend to like many different styles, but some of the designers that I like and admire your work are Balenciaga, Dior, Elsa Schiaparelli, Paco Rabanne and Elie Saab. Advice for the up-and-coming fashion designer up there? My advice is to fight for their dreams, and that criticism will help them to learn and become stronger.

MODEL
NAOMI COLE
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career? Hi my name is Naomi. Even as a little girl my favorite thing to do was play with my dress up clothes and pretend I was a princess waiting for a prince. Ariel (from Little Mermaid) and Bell (from Beauty and the Beast) were my favourite princesses. As I grew up, friends would come over and we would change and do our makeup and take pictures of one another! Maybe it was something I loved to do more than they did. I decided maybe I should get into fashion design, but the course was cut from my school. Unfortunately they didn't have the budget to continue running it. Who has helped you on your journey, and what lessons have you learned? I got my degree in marketing/ sales, then worked in the corporate world and thought I would never really see the day where I would be in a magazine or posing in front of a camera. Until one day a photographer reached out and insisted that I get into modeling. His name is Kevin BK Photos Johnson on Facebook. I still go to him for advice all the time. Haven't shot with him yet because he is in Miami. We spoke several years back but reconnected earlier this year. It was a good time since I was in between jobs and searching for the next chapter in my life! Every photographer teaches me something new and different and I admire the ones who are interested in doing something creative with me! The most valuable lesson I have learned is how to pose and be a good model, without taking any classes.

Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym? I'm the happiest I have ever been and I am trying to keep healthy and keep the athletic side of me. I'm aspiring to mostly be a fitness model, but I also love the bikini work as well! Hopefully in the future you will see more of how I keep healthy and what you can do as well! :)
"Every photographer teaches me something new and different."
“I want to be inspired as well as inspire others. I have started my modeling career when my telesales career ended. I needed that push to really find what makes me happy. I always knew fashion, creativity, people and collaboration was what is deep in my soul. I needed a push, but once I started to really get into this industry I found myself again. I originally wanted to be in fitness/ health and I still do, but I was also pushed in the direction of trying other art like swim, fashion, lingerie and more. I noticed I shine differently in each setting but my main focus is to help inspire and motivate rather than tare down others. We only go up if we help support rather than try to dominate and destroy. My modeling career really started when I was borderline older than most who start modeling but in the end I also feel like its the best time for me. I feel I am more confident and better off to do this now than when I was younger! I feel do what you love instead of doing only what you think you should!

I am thoroughly enjoying modeling and the path that got me here! From modeling as a teen, to earning a Masters degree and experiencing many years working as a clinical therapist helping people who are struggling, I have always wanted to help people improve their lives. Now, I am ecstatic to be working on my personal dreams. I encourage all people to do what you love and that will help you radiate happiness because you are doing what you are meant to do!! People have always fascinated me which is partially how I ended up in the behavioral health/psychology field as a therapist for so many years . I love meeting people and seeing growth and development . I still get to do that but in a different way now . Ultimately, there is a ripple effect. If people are doing what they are passionate about and love, then that happiness effects people around them and their environment in a positive way. People that hate their jobs and are unhappy rub off on the environment around them, negatively effecting others. People may wonder how others can be mean and rude or jealous and tear other people down. The answer lies within that individuals own unhappiness. I would like to say something about choosing the careers and the dreams to shoot for. Whatever the field we are going into there are investments and that's where we learn discernment, how to invest wisely. That investment is basically time and money. We only have 24 hours in a day use them wisely. Nothing is free. I get all the warnings on scams with modeling and have been in the field since I was young. Scams are when they take your money and did not receive any return. Or, the obvious situation where you are offered a modeling job via social media and never met the employer in person and they offer to send you a check before you have met you (A classic check cashing scam. I saw that one a few times). There are many others out there too . But I think that people are so alerted by "scams" they associate it with anything that costs money is a scam in modeling which is a misnomer. Everyone needs to choose personally how and when they can invest into their careers. Let me share the personal ways I choose to invest in my career. Self care is significant and even something I would talk to people about as a therapist. It's OK to to take care of yourself and feel good making yourself shine to the fullest potential! Make yourself look beautiful inside and out! You are worth it and never let anyone tell you otherwise! Embrace what it is about you that makes you special! I take care of my skin, hair and nails. I train at a gym and eat healthy. That is money I choose to invest. I feel training and events that help with networking are also vital
and I choose to invest there also. Choosing a salad over a cheeseburger is more expensive but it's the choice I personally make . Not that I won't eat a cheeseburger occasionally but most of the time, I eat well. I went to a modeling school when I was younger and I feel that's well worth the money to do training and education. For my clinical license in healthcare, continuing education is mandatory each year to keep current and yes those cost plenty of money each year. Sometimes employers pay, sometimes not. It's an interesting transition as I have chosen to do the modeling field full time now . There is a bit of a tone that if anything costs money it's automatically a scam . When I attended healthcare continuing education classes those teachers and trainers did not work for free. The same is true with modeling, if you are receiving something that includes training, networking and people involved that are working hard to help you - they need to eat and live too! In other words, it will cost money. What you invest in yourself will determine how much you get out of it. We can learn from everything we do. We can learn from each other . I would never want to be a person who thinks they are done learning . It's impossible to know everything and everyday can bring learning and growth ... It does not stop. Your life is what you choose it to be no matter the environment you grew up in or are currently in. I want to encourage all people to build each other up and not tear each other down . A positive attitude is much prettier than a negative nasty one ;) My current goals are to be in print advertisements for major clothing brands and to continue be a positive influence to those around me.

MODEL
SIENNADAVIS
Tell us about your daughter. How did she get her interest in modeling and as a parent, how did you talk to her? Sienna started modeling at 4 years old. Her older brothers had modeled and we thought she had the right personality for it too. So we gave it a go. How important is modeling education: Has she attended modeling courses? What related courses or studies has she taken? Education is very important. Sienna is luckily a very academic student & enjoys school. She hasn't done any modeling courses as she has learnt on the job. (She has done over 100 paid jobs since she started modeling). What do you think makes someone “fit to be a model? I think having confidence is a big factor. Having the right personality and being comfortable in your own skin is key. Being adaptable and easy going, to be able to take instruction from complete strangers is something that goes with the job. What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology, and photography? People like to be able to relate to advertising and to think that they can wear the clothing or whatever it may be that is being sold. So it's important to believe in what you are selling as it comes across in the photo. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I like to think that I am a friendly person. I am easy going and can get along with just about anybody on a job or anywhere. I'm a talker and not shy so I can easily get to know what a client wants. Does she eat nutritiously? How do you balance her studies and modeling career? I'm a bit of a fruit bat & I love fruit. So I smoothies and eating fruit salad. I do love stuff too. I exercise a lot, I play netball, do soccer. At the moment, modeling isn't full time doesn't get in the way of school too much yet.
love making the naughty karate, play just yet, so it
What is her dream role as a model? What do you aspire for her? When I was little I wanted to be a Victoria Secret model like Miranda Kerr at the time who wore the wings. Although that would be cool, I would like to do acting as well. I've done a few TVCs & I like that.. Modeling will definitely be in my future. We will just have to see what happens.
Does he/she have any limitations? How do you define her boundaries when choosing to accept a modeling request? So far we haven't had to worry about that too much. Things have to be age appropriate for her. They definitely have to be a reputable brand. State his/her availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours? We would definitely travel for work. Sienna is available for bookings. As a parent, what pieces of advice could you give to the parents reading this? As a parent, you definitely have to go into this industry with eyes wide open. Not be fooled into something you don't feel comfortable with and definitely go with reputable companies. It is worth it as it is great for confidence and opens up doorways to opportunities you might not necessarily get otherwise. For the young model: Tell us your most memorable experience in modeling so far? My most memorable moment was turning up to a job I did for David Jones & working with Megan Gale. I ended up working with her 3 years running on Christmas campaigns. Also when I met Miranda Kerr. She was beautiful. The best part is making friends who understand what it's like to do modeling. I have made some life long friends already.
