[MODEL GUIDE VOLUME 01]

Fashion models,

or what the industry refers to as "editorial models" are the high fashion models that you see in fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle, and who work for top fashion designers Giorgio Armani, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Valentino, and others. Female editorial models are generally 5' 9" to 6' 0" tall and are very slim. A female editorial models' measurements are usually - bust 33", waist 23", hips 33". Modeling agencies will always look at the "complete package" that the model presents when determining whether or not they can be editorial models, so don't be discouraged if you don't meet these stats exactly.

Runway/Catwalk Model

Female runway/catwalk models are a minimum of 5' 9" but 5' 10" - 5' 11" is even better. Runway models must have precise measurements so they are able to fit the clothes that designers are going to be showing to their clients. Their measurements are usually no greater than 34" - 23" - 34". Designers hire models to fit the clothes they have made for their collections, they don't make the clothes to fit the model - well, not unless you're a supermodel like Naomi Campbell or Coco Rocha.

Commercial Model

Commercial models can be any age, any size and any height. Hooray! Commercial models can do everything that isn't normally associated with highfashion, such as product ads (housewares, food products, travel industry, tech devices, and the list goes on).

Plus Size Model The plus model market has become an important part of the fashion and

commercial model industry. Several of the top fashion agencies now have plus size divisions and we've seen many plus supermodels over the past few years. Plus models are generally determined by size rather than exact measurements, such as size 12 and up. In the real world a size 12 is not considered a plus size, but in the modeling industry, it can be.

Petite Model Petite models are generally 5' 7" and under. While petite models don't generally do runway work, they are often booked for swimsuit, lingerie, and parts modeling. Since petite models usually have smaller shoe and glove sizes they are popular as foot and hand models.

Child Model

What do celebrities Brooke Shields, Jodie Foster, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Connelly, Natalie Portman and even CNN's Anderson Cooper have in common? They were all child models! The age range for a child model is generally 12 years and under and they can be any size and height. Agents that represent child models are looking for children with lots of personality and who are able to work well on set and around strangers. .

Swimsuit/Lingerie Model

Swimsuit and lingerie models are curvier and more voluptuous than editorial models. There are many opportunities for swimsuit models other than just modeling bikinis. Swimsuit models can model lingerie, undergarments, sleepwear, summer wear, and can also be showroom and fit models.

Glamour Model Glamour models are generally more curvy and voluptuous than editorial fashion models. Glamour models often work as swimsuit and lingerie models as well.

[MODEL GUIDE VOLUME 01]

Glamour modeling generally refers to the type of posing the model is doing in her photographs. Glamour modeling is usually more sexually suggestive or alluring than what a fashion model would do and typically geared toward male audiences rather than female. Pinup models and girls who appear in magazines such as Playboy are considered glamour models.

Fitness Model Fitness models are models who are very athletic, fit and toned. Many fitness models started out as athletes or trainers and have added fitness modeling to their resumes. In addition to working for fitness companies, supplement manufacturers and athletic wear companies, fitness models are often commercial models as well.

Fit Model Not to be confused with fitness models, Fit models are models who work behind the scenes in fashion houses and with garment manufacturers to make sure that sizing and fit are maintained in the clothing manufacturing process. Garment manufacturers require a variety of shapes and sizes of fit models in order to fit their garments properly before they are shipped to the consumer. You may not have the look that a print model needs or the height of a runway model, but if you can consistently maintain your measurements then a career in fit modeling may be for you.

Parts Model

Parts models specialize in modeling body parts such as hands, feet, legs, and eyes. A hand model can book jobs for jewelry, nail, and beauty related products and anywhere else a client requires a perfect hand whether it's in print or on film. A foot model can book jobs with shoe companies, nail and beauty products and anywhere else a client requires perfect feet whether it's in print or on film. Clients look for well-proportioned body parts and those who can fit sample shoe, glove or jewelry sizes. Petite models often find work as part models due to their smaller shoe sizes and body parts. Petite models often find work as part models due to their smaller shoe sizes and body parts.

Promotional Model

Promotional models often book jobs to promote products or services at trade shows, conventions, and live events. Promotional models must be very outgoing, friendly and have a very good understanding of the client's product as they may be required to talk about the product or answer questions from potential buyers.

Mature Model

The market for mature models has increased tremendously as the baby boomers enter their 60's and beyond. Mature models are generally 30 years of age and over and work well into their 80's and 90's! Mature models are really considered commercial models and can do everything a commercial model can do.

7 of the Best Poses for Female Models [Contact +263783770043]

[MODEL GUIDE VOLUME 01]

As a female model and actress who is constantly trying to keep things fresh in front of the camera, new and creative poses are key. Sometimes poses can start feeling repetitive, but it’s important to keep pushing yourself to be loose, in your body, and most importantly, interesting. Here are a list of 7 simple, yet effective modeling poses I think look great on every body type. This is the second of two articles we’ve put together on posing for models.

1. Over the Shoulder

This pose will never get old to me. For one, it’s so flattering. It instantly creates dimension in the photo, and has a “flirty” like mystery to it. I love how this pose accentuates the model’s jaw line, lengthens the neck, and allows us to see a little bit of the face’s profile.

2. Use Your Hands

Photo Candy Kim . In portrait photography, you typically only think of a face and it’s expression. When adding hands to the mixture, the photo comes alive. A hand grazing your cheek, or playing with your hair gives the photo more of a human quality, making it more natural and relatable. In my opinion, the biggest compliment a model can receive is being called natural or a “natural”, and naturally we use our hands when we move!

3. Against the Wall

[MODEL GUIDE VOLUME 01]

Photo via Lipstick Alley . I personally love using walls or objects to play with during a shoot. For me, it’s a prop that I can lean up against, lean towards, and balance on. It’s a solid surface that I know isn’t going anywhere, which gives me freedom to do whatever pose I so desire. It’s kind of like a little safety net, and a great tool for beginner models. I love a good brick wall! (So does every photographer)

4. Surface Lean

[MODEL GUIDE VOLUME 01]

Photo Nyasha Whether you’re slightly sitting on, or leaning against a surface, this pose is striking and allows for the model to change her focal points to something else besides the camera. It also gives the photo a sense of ease. There is something cinematic and deep about a human staring longingly at something in the distance. If the model is actively seeing things and having thoughts behind their eyes, it will be portrayed on camera and is absolutely captivating.

5. A Little More Sensual Photo via The Independent . When doing a shoot indoors, outdoors, in a studio or in a more intimate space, lying on your stomach with legs propped up is sexy and feminine way to pose without too much exposure (unless that’s what you’re going for, if so, more power to yah!). When photographed from the side, it lengthens the body and legs. When in this pose, I like to play around with the angles of my chin; tilting it up and down to accentuate my jaw and give the pictures a different mood.

6. Hands on Hips

Photo via Fashion Gone Rogue . Putting your hands on hips when posing in front of a camera makes your waist appear smaller. The space in your arms creates a background effect and slims everything down! I also love this pose because it is powerful, feminine, and dominant. Whenever I do this pose I like to push my shoulders forward to accentuate my collar bones. Try playing with body weight distribution; let one leg have more weight than the other and then switch.

7. Full Frontal Face (Close-Up)

Photo via Listal . This can be one of the most beautiful and powerful portrait poses, and it is the most simple. Little is going on in the body, but everything is going on in the eyes. Nothing is worse than seeing a pair of dead eyes on camera. It is important that during a shoot, the model is consistently having thoughts behind his/her eyes as

they are modeling. Modeling is acting! Sometimes when I find myself burning out I take a deep breath, close my eyes and count to three. On three I open my eyes with a fresh thought in my mind. Modeling is a lot more than looking pretty, it is telling a story through your body language and your eyes. If the story you’re trying to tell is unclear to you, it will be unclear to the audience. You are allowed to feel emotions! The more open you are to creating uninhibited art, the more creatively fulfilled you will feel at the end of your shoot.

BREATHE! Don’t forget to breathe, ladies! We will be able to tell on camera if you are not. Breathing will help you feel more in your body, and will get rid of those unwanted nerves. The Mirror is your Best Friend Use the mirror to try out different poses. Figure out what you think looks good on you before you get in front of the camera. I guarantee you’ll feel more confident and you will know you look GOOD. Don’t take yourself too seriously! Modeling is fun, and it’s important to smile. Smiling is the most beautiful and natural human expression. Everyone loves and appreciates a genuine and BIG smile..

Many people view modeling as a glamorous career. Hundreds of young girls audition in the hopes of gaining a spot and making a name for themselves in the

modeling world. They are attracted to the lifestyle and the benefits that modeling can bring. Here are some of the benefits that makes modeling a competitive field. New Experiences Being a model will expose you to a lot of different skills, such as proper posture, communication skills and poise, that you can apply to other careers.

Free Stuff There are many perks to becoming a model. One of them is being able to receive things for free--such as professional photographs, tickets to events and invitations to parties.

Salary You can freelance as a model, which is a great side job if you are busy with school, family or another job. Models can make anywhere from $200 a day to $1,000 a day.

Publicity and Exposure Whether you are only doing modeling part-time or build a career out of it, exposure is one of the benefits of becoming a model. You may gain popularity or recognition through your photographs or TV spots. Travel Traveling is one of the biggest perks of becoming a model. You may secure projects that require you to travel domestically or internationally. The company you are working with may also give you a travel allowance and stipend while working.

Modeling may appear to be a glamorous profession, where models wear the latest designer fashions as they travel to exotic locations all over the world. In truth, only a small percentage of models reach the elite level where they have such advantages. Most models work locally in much less exciting locations. Regardless of where models work, however, the conditions are demanding and stressful, the

hours are long, and the profession requires a commitment to looking your best at all times.

Stressful Work Environment Whether you are a runway model or a catalog model, the work environment can be very stressful. The photographer asks for take after take of what may seem like the same poses. The client may be at the shoot too -- sometimes several client representatives attend a photo shoot -- and they offer their input too. Indoors, the lights are hot and the air can be stifling. Outside, it can be hot, freezing cold, rainy, windy -- and the photo shoot goes on and on. Runway models look cool and collected, but backstage they're throwing clothes on and off at breakneck speed with stylists, make-up artists and designers all wanting the model's attention. Long, Unpredictable Hours Behind every magazine ad is hours of work for the model who is pictured in just a single pose. In addition to the hours spent at the photo shoot, she has spent hours on her hair and makeup, too, whether she does it herself or has stylists and makeup artists on set. She's also had a manicure and pedicure earlier, or perhaps even the day before, in anticipation of being photographed. Fashion shows require just as much -- or even more -- advanced preparation. Since the model will be seen in person, she wants to appear perfect from head to toe, no matter how much time it takes. A model's hours are unpredictable as well. She can be called for a job at a moment's notice, and if she wants to be known as being flexible, she happily accepts.

Maintaining Body Image Models must spend time, effort and money on staying in shape and looking good. For most, this includes some form of dieting, whether a stringent weight-loss diet or a maintenance diet of consistently healthy eating. The modeling industry is showing signs of eschewing the stick-thin body type that often leads to dangerous conditions such as anorexia nervosa. However, designers still believe their clothes look best on long, lean frames. While "plus-sized" models also have a place in modeling today, many plus-sized models are sizes 10 and 12, which are sizes that still require attention to diet and exercise. Variable Pay and Scams Famous super-models may make enviable salaries and travel to exotic locales. Most models, however, work locally and have salaries that are irregular and average. They must spend a portion of their time updating their portfolios, making appointments and seeing potential clients -- and other aspects of running a selfemployed business -- all without payment. Due to the sporadic nature of the work,

most models work part-time in modeling and have another job that helps pay the bills. The median hourly pay was 11-dollars in 2017. Models also must be wary of scams that waste their time, use their image and do not pay.

Fashion modelling Once a designer creates a garment or accessory, he will usually need some way to display the item to the public. This is where fashion modeling comes in. Fashion modeling involves using people to show off a particular type of fashion. This allows the public to see how a particular fashion looks, which can help create public interest. Several different types of fashion items can be displayed using fashion modeling. Some items that can be modeled include garments, accessories, jewelry, and cosmetics. In the fashion industry, fashion modeling is often used as a type of advertising. Models are often featured in magazines and catalogs, as well as on television and the Internet. Types of fashion modelling There are several different types of fashion modeling. Modeling for print is one of the most commonly recognized types of modeling. Models who model for print media, like magazines and catalogs, must be photographed wearing different fashions. Most of the time, they will be required to hold several different poses for long periods of time. Live modeling is another popular type of fashion modeling. This type of modeling often refers to the type of modeling seen during runway shows. Live models are typically required to walk and turn in front of large audiences while wearing current fashions. Some live models may even be required to interact with certain props in their environment as well. Some fashion models might only model with certain parts of their bodies, like their hands or feet. These models are often referred to as parts models. When trying to market a fashion to a certain audience, fashion designers will often use fashion models that are built like or look like the intended audience. For instance, plus-sized models will usually model plus-sized clothing. African models might also be used in order to model certain fashions geared toward colored women.

Requirements

Work requirements Although many individuals believe that fashion modeling just involves wearing different fashions and looking pretty, there is actually much more to it. While a fashion modeling career can be exciting and glamorous, it is also rather demanding and stressful. Fashion models are required to look and act a certain way. Therefore, they must work very hard to maintain a certain image. This usually involves strict dieting and exercise to keep their bodies in top shape. Fashion models must also usually keep up to date on and wear the latest fashions. A career in fashion modeling also usually requires models to work very long hours in several different types of settings and environments. Swimsuit models, for instance, will usually need to wear several different swimsuits on a beach. This type of work, which may seem inviting to some, often involves baking in the hot sun or smiling for the camera in chilly, windy weather for hours. While they are modeling, fashion models also need to move or pose their bodies in certain ways, or they may need to rely on facial expressions to achieve a certain look. Fashion models should also have an outgoing personality and superb people skills, since they will usually need to interact with a variety of different people while they are working. They may need to interact with stylists, makeup artists, designers, and photographers. . Educational Requirements There are no strict education requirements for becoming a fashion model, but some aspiring models may choose to attend modeling school or take modeling classes. While they can be helpful, modeling schools and classes don’t always guarantee that a model will get work. In modeling school, aspiring models will often learn different skills that can be helpful for a career in fashion modeling. Most modeling schools will teach models how to dress and act, for instance. While attending modeling school, some individuals will find that they gain the confidence needed to be a successful model. A modeling school can also help build an aspiring model’s portfolio as well. Salary

Job Outlook Making money as a fashion model is not always easy, since this is often a very competitive career. Some models may not even make enough money to live on, and they will often need to secure employment in other areas. Some of the more attractive and successful models, however, are often able to make a decent annual salary with just modeling alone. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual modeling salary was around $32,920. More successful models will often make much more, and they will also be rewarded with free fashion products, like clothes, jewelry, and makeup. The majority of fashion models usually sign on with modeling agencies. These types of agencies act as go betweens for models and prospective clients. In fact, many fashion designers will not hire models unless they are represented by modeling agencies. Instead of working with a modeling agency, a model can also choose to work as a freelancer. Freelance models, however, will often have a much harder time getting a steady stream of modeling work.
