Photographer Alex Annen (Switzerland)

Can you tell us a little about you? I am 35 years old, live in Switzerland. I’m a commercial and portrait photographer, working both from studio and ex terior .

How and when did you get into photography? As I often say, I discover photography with live music photo-graphy and learn to love it with portrait photography. I began 5 years ago.

What does photography mean to you? Ever y thing. Without it I wouldn't have discovered that I can be crea-tive. I discovered another way to live and be whole.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. Location photography is something amazing. Create atmosphere and highlights people is important for me.

Where do you get inspiration from? In book, movies, video music and in the world in general.

Do you think in advance what you want in the pictu-re? Most of the time, yes. I left a place for improvi-sation but i prefer to plannif y what I wanna do.

Studio, on location or both? Both ! Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Paid Professional

What has been your most memorable session and why? I had to create a shoot for a designer dress. For this session, I do 1000km to go in a special pl ace in France. It ’s memorable because that was my ver y first big project with my best friend as model, my wife as MUA . And “fun” fact, 3 days before this shoot all of my camera gear has been stolen. I had to find a replacement material to not throw all thi s organisation to trash.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Canon from the beginning and my fav lense is the 50mm f/1.2, on my R5 actually.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own bu-siness? Make Mistakes. A LOT. I learned a lot of things from my mistake and without it I would not be the photographer that I am today, and I have a lot to learn.
