Modesto Must Do’s... Now that people are moving around again, what are some Modesto essentials? I know when friends and customers visit, there are things you just have to do. Every person that visits should walk the Modesto Cruise Route and learn a lot about our city, our classic car story and get some rock and roll history. While you are out, there are many great murals that will really impress and inspire you. Since we are connecting with Yosemite, you should check out the huge Royal Robbins mural on Camp 4 Wine Café and enjoy some delicious farm to fork treats created by Royal’s son Damon Robbins and team. There are a variety of craft micro brews like Contentment Brewery near MJC or 18Seventy Brewing in Downtown Modesto. Now that we are in the red, the live music is coming back to Ralston’s Goat, Rivets, P. Wexford’s, Bauers Downtown where you can dig some great tunes and tastes so enjoy nice dinner and cocktails. At this time, Modesto’s movie theatres are scheduled to be open in April so there will be more options and the McHenry Museum should be opening soon. Check www.modestoview.com for updated opening information and check out www.visitmodesto.com for visitor info.

Modesto Skates This is one of the good things that came out of COVID. Roller skating is back and bigger than ever. There are groups getting together in our parks, creating pop up events and most importantly, encouraging families and friends go lace up their skates and have a great time. Thank to Modestan Brian Cromwell for spearheading a lot of these activities that are creating fun for all ages. We need more all ages activities like this and there are potentially new skating areas in the works with the City of Modesto. To find a local skate session, please go to Modesto Skates on Facebook. www.facebook.com/ groups/4674800462560441/

Earth Day 2021

From Modesto’s early leadership in recycling in the 1970s with Ecology Now, Modesto’s recycling and waste reduction program is in full swing. We really do need to recycle, reduce and reuse most of what we make and use. The global resources are scarce and we need to live, work and manufacture in a sustainable way. We need to ride our bikes, break down our recyclables and work toward clean transportation. Everyone can do their part. To learn more about local programs: www.modestogov.com/370/Garbage-Recycling

Tuolumne River Fundraiser - April 17 The beautiful Tuolumne River flows right through Modesto and Stanislaus County. Over the last few years, Dennett Dam was removed, clean ups have made a difference and there is riverfront restoration happening. This month you can help with a Hike Bike Paddle and Play event for the river and raise funds to help the development of our Tuolumne River spaces. You can join in wherever you want along the river or wherever you are to raise funds and awareness. Learn more an register: www.tuolumne.org More Big View Modesto Must Do’s on page 16
