ONCINNATI - Madeira senior Jeff Moore has received his share of athletic accolades in his four years as part of the Mustangs athletic program. While most of those have come on the hardwood as a member of the Madeira basketball team, the recognition he received after being named to the East all-star baseball squad is going to be hard to top. Moore was one of the 30 players selected for inclusion on the East team, in the 2006 Great American East-West All Star Baseball Series. That series concluded June 14 with a 7-3WestwinatGreatAmerican Ballpark. "Basketball is always going to be my main sport, but it was great to get the honor of playing in these games," Moore said. "Getting on that field, with all of those other great players, that was big time. n Moore was selected to the squad after hitting .345 with six doubles and 25 RBI this past sea-

son. The series was cut short because of bad weather after game one was stopped in the fifth inning and game two never even began. The series finale at Great Amer, ican Ballpark went off with a hitch, providing those playing in it a memory that will stick with them for a long time. Moore, who is planning on playing both basketball and baseball at UC-Qermont, started the game at shortstop for the East squad, but was unable to get an atbat in the Joss. Deer Park senior Johnny McHone also took part in the series after hitting .337 with six doubles and 15 RBI for the Wildcats this season. It didn't take long for McHone to realize the scope of the situation upon walking on the field. "Itwas awesome. As soon as we walked out on the field I knew that this was going to be something I'd remember for the rest of my life," McHone said.

McHone played two innings at shortstop for the East squad and was hit by a pitch in his only at-bat ofthegame. While he isn't playing baseball in college next fall, McHone says he couldn't think of a better way to finish his playing career. "It's a great way to end it," he said. Cisper, who will be playing at Miami University in Oxford next fall, was selected to the team after hitting .377 with five doubles and seven stolen bases for the Cru-

Elder coach Mark Thompson's ~ction to his defending Division I state champion Panthers earning the top spot in the Enquirer Division I area coaches' poll was typical. "Dam," he said. "It's flattering that the other coaches think that highly of us, but it doesn't mean a thing. Our goal is to win the last game of the season. It'll be a feather in our cap, if we're still there." Thompson might have to deal with the loss for the season of left fielder Marty Kersting. The firstteam Greater Catholic League allstar suffered a possible tom labrum in his shoulder during the Panthers' Division I basketball regional championship loss March 18. 'We have three or four guys we can plug in there," Thompson said. "One thing that's fortunate is we do have a lot of depth, but you can't re-

Moeller junior pitcher Brian Bobinski threw a complete game to defeat Oak Hills 12-2 in a Cincinnati Division I district final Friday at Midland. Moeller (23-6) will play the winner of today's Elder-Springfield North game at'2 p.m. Friday at the University of Cincinnati. Bobinski improved to 6-1. Young team finishes second in city after loss to Elder By Kyle Burch Community Press Staff Writer

KENWOOD- Most of the time when a coach describes a teain as being young the description brings with it an undertone of that team not having success. That wasn't the case for the 2006 Moeller baseball team. Beginning the 2006 season, head coach Mike Cameron labeled his team as very young and hoped that they could mature enough to be playing well heading into postseason play. Well, the Crusaders postseason play concluded last week, but only after Moeller posted a 23-6 record during the regular season and finished second in the city's Division I poll. The one obstacle the "young" Crusaders team couldn't overcome was the Elder Panthers, who knocked off Moeller 8-1 in the regional semifinals. 'We didn't do a very good job of figuring out (Mike) Nastold," said Cameron, of the Elder pitcher. "He beat us 1-0 during the regular season and once again we couldn't figure him out." The defeat was the third this season suffered at the hands of Elder, and despite the seven-run difference the game was much closer. Moeller trailed by just three runs before the Panthers struck for four runs in the top 'Of the seventh

"We were trying to get the double play," Hatfield said. "The game was still relatively close. We put him on, and they made us pay for it." The Crusaders, ranked No.2 in The Enquirer Division I area coaches' poll, advance to the district final against Monday's Colerain-Oak Hills winner at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Midland. Wllllmers pitched seven hmings allowing just three hits, walked one and struck out 10. 'This is two starts in a row that he's been dominant," said Moeller coach Mike Cameron. "His command of his pitches was outstanding today." The Crusaders were leading 3-0 with runners on second and third and one out in the fifth inning when Jones fell behind 2-0 to Wllllffiers. Hatfield chose to intentionally walk the Moeller junior and pitch to Robinett. "I was looking for a fastball," Robinett said. "I thought it was just a long fly ball at first. I just wanted a sacrifice fly, but it kept carrying." Glen Este committed three errors, including one that helped jump start Moeller's seven-run fifth inning. Fishburn started the big fourth with a single off losing pitcher Mitch Monke (5-4), a sophomore left-bander. Monke eventually walked four batters and allowed four hits in the inning before being knocked out of the game. Besides the fourth inning, Elder had only four men reach base. But once the seven spot went up, the game essentially was over. "We got some big two-out hits," Thompson said. "We've been doing that a lot lately." The string ran out on Kings' great baseball tournament run Friday, and it took one of Ohio's best high school pitchers to do it Kings lost 5-1 to Miamisburg and senior right-hander Billy Kitchen (12-0), who is headed to Indiana University next season. Kitchen had a no-hitter through 4'/ innings and allowed only three hits overall, as Miamisburg won the Division I regional semifinal matchup at UC's Marge Schott Stadium. Kings (19-11), which last week won its first Division I district championship, still was battling as it trailed 5-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. The Knights had two hits in the inning, including an RBI double by Dustin Klum that plated Kings' only run. But Kitchen, whose fastball approaches 90 mph, ended things without further damage. 'There aren't very many games that we've been out of, because our kids play so hard," Kings coach Matt Middleton said. "You go against a guy throwing in the high 80s and low 90s, it's tough. But we had our opportunities." Kings was led this year by senior pitcher Jeff Pope, who is headed to Ohio ~orthem next season. Pope (6-1) took his first loss of the season Friday. The Cincinnati Fall Baseball Team This team of all-stars from the Cincinnati Fall Baseball League beat 28 teams from the eastem United States to win the Mid-Atlantic Fall Tournament. The team went undefeated in five games and outscored opponents 50-10. Steve Adams (Glen Este), Jason Edwards (Edgewood) and Jordan Wolfe (Wayne) were named in the top 18 players out of 300 varsity starters by the coaches. Other key contributors: Danny Rosenbaum (Loveland), Reese Asbury (Centerville), John lborg (Loveland), Ryan Fulton (Milford), Bryan Earley (Elder), Kyle Weldon (Mason), Steve Mirizzi (Lakota West), Lance Durham (Roger Bacon), Brian Suerdick (Wayne). Dan Burkhart (Moeller), Zach Keen (Beavercreek), Chris Dixon (Princeton), John Edgington (Wyoming), John Benza (Milford) and Travis Tumer (Bethel). This 18-under baseball team won the BarrettRetcher World Series this summer in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Bulldogs beat the Savannah Chain 4-0 in the championship game for the title. "I think the best way to define the season is it's wide open for a lot of teams," said McNicholas coach WJ!.. !y Corbett, whose team is ranked No.1. "That surprises me, because we lost 13 seniors," Corbett said. The Rockets lost catcher/third baseman/pitcher Jake Oester, a four-year starter, and catcher Greg Feldkamp, a three-year starter. But Enquirer first-team all-star Drew Schmidt returns to play shortstop after hitting .461 as the Rockets' second baseman last season. 2. Game Summaries - Freshmen Moeller 16, Fairfield 5 (Scrimmage) The Moeller Freshman Baseball Team opened the 2006 season with at 16-5 scrimmage victory over the Fairfield Indians. Behind the opening day pitching of Ian Hundley, Andrew Kamphake, Kelley Barnes and Ryan Gran, the frosh banged out 7 hits. Bryan Beaver and Keith Rieman collected 3 hits each. A big inning ending double play was turned in by Brett Cisper to Mike Seifert to John Farfsing.

Moeller 11, Lakota West 0 (Scrimmage) Bryan Beaver and Patrick Donovan combined to pitch a one hit shutout of the Lakota West Thunderbirds. The duo struck out seven in the six inning game. Seven Crusader players banged out hits to lead Moeller to its second scrimmage victory. Keith Rieman had a two out bases loaded line drive double to knock in three of Moeller's 11 runs. Bryan Beaver also had three RBI's. Alex Fishback, Brett Cisper, Ian Hundley, Mike Seifert and John Farfsing all chipped in with base hits.

Moeller 2, Sycamore 0 The Moeller Freshmen opened the regular season with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Sycamore Avia tors. Moeller's Bryan Beaver also won the pitching duel over Sycamore's Matt Mendlesohn. Beaver, who gave up two hits and faced the minimum of21 batters over 7 innings. This was aided by nine strikeouts and a triple play pulled off by the Crusader defense. Moeller did not score until the sixth inning when with one out, John Farfsing had a pinch hit walk, Mike Seifert reached on an error which sent pinch runner Matt Welker to second. Keith Rieman was hit by the pitch and Matt Ceddia belted a double to left center field scoring Welker and Seifert for Big Moe's two runs. Matt Ceddia and David Stenger each had two hits with Keith Rieman, Brett Cisper, Ryan Gran, Sage Iacovone adding hits. Moeller record is 1-0

Moeller 6, LaSalle 0 'fhe Moeller Freshmen recorded their second shutout is as many games by defeating GCL foe, LaSalle Lancers. Ian Hundley and Patrick Donovon combined to toss a thriller. Hundley went six innings scattering three hits while walking three and striking out six Lancer batters. The Crusaders were not able to plate any runs off starter Blake Lehmann until the top of the seventh inning when with one out, Lehmann walked Mike Seifert and Keith Rieman. Matt Ceddia reached on an error by the shortstop to load the bases. LaSalle changed pitchers and he was greeted by back-to-back-to-back base hits from Brett Cisper, Bryan Beaver and Ryan Gran who each drove in runs. John Farfsing walked with bases loaded to collect Moeller's fourth run of the inning. With two outs, Derek Bresnen singled driving in Moeller's last two runs to seal the 6-0 win. Moeller 6, Elder 3 â&#x20AC;˘ The Moeller Freshman caged the Elder Panthers in a GCL showdown at Riverfront Field by a 6-3 margin. Once again, the Crusaders scored all their runs in one inning, this time it was the second inning. Designated Hitter Hadley Bohanan led off the inning by hitting a shot to the leftfield wall. David Stenger singled sending Bohanan home. Derek Bresnen and Mike Seifert walked loading the bases. Keith Rieman grounded out to second scoring Stenger. Matt Ceddia grounded out scoring Bresnen. With two outs Brett Cisper and Bryan Beaver walked and Ryan Gran hit a laser to right scoring the final three runs. Keith Rieman had a double and pinch hitter Alex Fishback and Mike Seifert added base hits. Bryan Beaver turned in his second complete game victory allowing three earned runs on five hits, three walks, nine strikeouts and one hit batter. The Freshman record is 3-0 and 2-0 in the GCL.

Moeller 9, Anderson 5 The Moeller Freshman extended their record to 4-0 today by downing the Anderson Redskins, 9-5. The Crusaders came out swinging in the first inning. With one out, Matt Ceddia and Brett Cisper smacked back to back singles. Bryan Beaver smacked a triple scoring Ceddia and Cisper. Beaver scored on a Hadley Bohanan fielders choice. Moeller scored again in the second when Ian Hundley reached on an error, Sage Iacovone singled and both runners moved up on a passed ball. Hundley then scored on a Keith Rieman ground ball. Three more runs were scored in the fourth on a walk by Iacovone a base hit from Rieman, a double by Ceddia and back to back single by Cisper and Beaver. Big Moe's eighth run was scored on a single from Matt Welker and a double from Daniel Rosado. Matt Ceddia was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and Derek Bresnen added a pinch hit double. Kelley Barnes pitched six great innings in relief of Ryan Kern. Kelley allowed four runs, all unearned, three hits, two walks and seven strikeouts to pick up the Crusader win. The Freshman record is 4-0 and 2-0 in the GCL.

St. Xavier 7, Moeller 4 The Moeller Freshmen lost their first game ofthe year today to St. X, 7-4. Bryan Beaver pitched another great game allowing the Bombers only three scattered hits through 6 2/3 innings. With two down and no runners on base X collected six hits and a walk off Beaver and reliever Ian Hundley to score five runs. Moeller scored two runs in the first inning on a base hit by Keith Rieman, a walk to Matt Ceddia, a base hit by Brett Cisper and a double by Bryan Beaver. The Crusaders scored their other two runs in the third inning by never touching the ball. Walks to Bryan Beaver, Sage Icavone, adn David Stenger loaded the bases. Derek Bresnen was walked scoring Cisper and Mike Seifert was hit by the pitch to score pinch runner, Kelley Barnes. Brett Cisper was 2 for 3 and others collecting hits were David Stenger and Mike Seifert. Moeller's record goes to 4-1 and 2-1 in the GCL.

MoeJler 10, Kings 0 The Frosh got back on the winning side of the ledger by defeating Kings in a five inning shutout by Patrick Donovan and Ian Hundley. Donovan pitched three innings facing 12 batters while allowing no hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Hundley pitched the last two innings allowing two hits, two walks, one strikeout and one hit batter. The Crusaders scored early with a leadoff hit and stolen base by Keith Rieman and a base hit by Brett Cisper. Moeller did not score again until the fourth inning when Bryan Beaver led off with a double, a walk to Sage Iacovone, David Stenger drop a perfect bunt advancing Beaver and pinch runner Tony Benedetti. John Farfsing stepped up and drilled a clutch base hit (his second of the game) scoring Beaver and Benedetti. Big Moe dll'opped a seven spot on the scoreboard, with hits by Cisper, Iacovone, Stenger, Andrew Kamphake, Ryan Kern, and Matt Ceddia. Moeller record is 5-1 and 2-1 in the GCL.

the Moeller Freshmen came from being down four runs to defeat Kings 10-7. Hadley Bohanan picked up the victory in relief of David Stenger pitching three innings while giving up two unearned runs on three hits, three walks and four strikeouts. Andrew Kamphake faced the minimum three batters in the seventh inning to earn the save. The Crusaders put their first run on the board in the second inning on a two out triple by Kelley Barnes and a walk by Daniel Rosado. The pair then pulled off the perfect double steal. Moeller added two more runs in the fourth inning on a hit by Bryan Beaver and a walk from John Farfsing. They then moved up on a wild pitch and were knocked in by a Derek Bresnen base hit. The next inning plated three more runs to tie the game. Matt Ceddia doubled, Brett Cisper singled and Beaver walked to load the bases for John Farfsing who cranked a line drive double to clear the bases. Michael Seifert led off the sixth inning by being hit by the pitch. Alex Fishback dropped a bunt for a base hit, Ian Hundley walked as did Farfsing and Kelley Barnes collected his second hit on the day driving in a run. Moeller scored their last run in the seventh when Seifert reached on an error and Keith Rieman clocked a pinch hit double. Moeller's record is 6-1 and 2-1 in the GCL.

Moeller 11, Princeton 2 (Scrimmage) Moeller sunk the Princeton Vikings in their third scrimmage of the year, 11-2, behind the combined pitching effort of Eric Lang, Matt Botts, and Matt Welker. Lang started the game pitching three innings and giving up two runs, both earned on three hits, three walks and one strikeout, Botts pitched two innings allowing only one walk and one strikeout and Matt Welker picked up the win facing the minimum of six batters in his two innings of work with one strikeout. Alex Fishback led off the game with a walk, stole second , went to third on a wild pitch and scored of a Brett Cisper sacrifice .fly. The Crusaders received base hits from Alex Fishback, Eric Lang, Bryan Beaver, Andrew Kamphake, Derek Bresnen, a double from Kelley Barnes, and two hits including a double from Ryan Grau.

Moeller 9, Sycamore 8 The Frosh showed some grit today by coming from behind three times to down the Sycamore Aviators, 9-8, on a clutch bottom of the seventh inning base hit by Michael Seifert. With the score tied, David Stenger led off the seventh inning with a walk. Patrick Donovan dropped a perfect sacrifice bunt and the Sycamore pitcher threw the ball wide of first sending Stenger and Donovan to second and third respectfully, setting the stage for Seifert. There were many offensive heroes in addition to Seifert in the 14 hit attack. Brett Cisper and Bryan Beaver were both 3 for 4 with Beaver picking up 3 RBI. Matt Ceddia, Ryan Grau, and Seifert all had two hits each and Keith Rieman and John Farfsing each added hits. Andrew Kamphake came in the game in relief of Kelly Barnes to pitch the last three innings to pick up the win. The Moeller record is now 7-1 and 2-1 in the GCL.

Moeller 9, McNicholas 2 The Moeller Freshman rocketed to a 9-2 victory over McNicholas today behind the timeley hitting of John Farfsing and Alex Fishback who each gathered 2 RBI. The Crusaders got on the board with a leadoff double by Keith Rieman, hits by Matt Ceddia and Brett Cisper and a fielders choice from Ryan Grau who knocked in three runs on the day. Mike Seifert collected the other Moeller hit. Ian Hundley started on the mound and pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing two earned runs on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Hadley Bohanan picked up the win in relief pitching 2 113 innings retiring the seven batters he faced which included two strikeouts. The Moeller Freshman stand at 8-1 and 3-1 in the GCL.

Matt Ceddia was 2 for 3 with two doubles, a walk, three RBI and four runs scored. Bryan Beaver had two hits and three RBI with a double. Others adding base hits were Ryan Gran, Kelley Barnes, Andrew Kamphake, and Alex Fishback. Keith Rieman had a bases loaded double. Ryan Gran started the game and pitched three innings before giving way to a stellar relief appearance by Ryan Kern. The Freshman record is not 9-1 and 4-1 in the GCL.

Moeller 18 Colerain 4 (5 innings) The Moeller Freshman Baseball Team traveled to Colerain today to take on the Cardinals in a doubleheader. After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, the Crusaders scored 18 unanswered runs. Kelley Barnes picked up the complete game win pitching five innings allowing four runs, three earned on six hits, three walks and eight strikeouts. Moeller answered Colerain's four runs in the bottom of the first with six runs in the second. John Farfsing walked, David Stenger reached on an error and Patrick Donovan hit a shot off the leftfield wall for the first of two doubles and three hits including a walk on the day. Michael Seifert reached on a fielders choice and Keith Rieman singled sending Donovan plate ward. Brett Cisper and Bryan Beaver singled gathering RBI. Other players contributing to Moeller's 16 hit attack were Keith Rieman 2 for 2, two RBI -Ian Hundley 2 for 2 including a double, Matt Ceddia, Eric Lang, Ryan Gran, David Stenger, and Alex Fishback all had a hit and Bryan Beaver who was 3 for 5 including four RBI. The Moeller record stands at 10-1 and 4-1 in the GCL.

Moeller 7, Colerain 6 The nightcap saw Moeller jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. With two out and the bases empty, Bryan Beaver walked, Ryan Gran singled sending Beaver to second. Ian Hundley singled scoring Beaver and Sage lacovone singled home Gran and Hundley. The Frosh scored again in the fifth inning when Daniel Rosado walked and Bryan Beaver doubled off the centerfield wall. Ian Hundley walked as did Sage Iacovone and David Stenger collected his second hit on the day scoring Moeller's seventh run. Matt Botts started the game on the mound pitching four superb innings. Hadley Bohanan came in to pitch in the fifth inning to snuff out a Colerain rally and Bryan Beaver pitched the last 1 2/3 to pick up the save. The Freshman record is now 11-1 and 4-1 in the GCL.

Moeller 7, Badin 2 The Moeller freshmen baseball team took a giant step forward today by sending the Badin Rams to only their second loss of the year against 12 wins. Bryan Beaver pitched seven very strong innings to pick up the complete game win. Beaver held Badin to two unearned runs, scattering four hits on two walks, one hit batter and five strikeouts. Badin scored first in the top of the first inning. Moeller answered in the home half of the first when Keith Rieman led offthe game with a line drive base hit to center. Matt Ceddia walked as did Bryan Beaver and John Farfsing also walked to notch an RBI. The Crusaders scored two in the second on a Sage Iacovone hit, a Mike Seifert walk. Keith Rieman dropped a bunt advancing Iacovone and Seifert to second and third. A Badin balk and Ceddia sacrifice fly plated the two runs. Moeller scored again on a Bryan Beaver double and Ryan Gran single. Beaver followed with a walk and Ryan Gran banged out his first of three hits and picking up two of his three RBI. LaSalle 15, Moeller 11 The Moeller Freshman could not overcome a 9-0 first inning deficit today losing a non-league game to GCL opponent LaSalle Lancers. Even though they were down nine runs, the Crusaders answered with six runs of their own in the bottom of the first. With one out, Kelley Barnes tripled and Ryan Gran doubled. Then with two outs and Gran on second, Ian Hundley walked, Andrew Kamphake singled home Gran, Eric Lang singled while Hundley scampered home. Daniel Rosado banged out a hit driving in Kamphake. After a walk to Matt Welker, Alex Fishback singled in Lang and Rosado. Hitting leaders for Moeller were Bryan Beaver 3 for 5 with two RBI, Alex Fishback 2 for 5 with two RBI, Kelley Barnes 2 for 3 and two hit by the pitch, Matt Welker 1 for 2 with two RBI. Ryan Kern started the game on the mound and was relieved by David Stenger, Hadley Bohanan and Eric Lang, who pitched a perfect seventh inning. The Moeller record is 13-2 and 6-1 to lead the GCL.

Moeller 5, Defiance 4 The Moeller Freshmen made their annual trip to northern Ohio today to take on the Defiance team who were 10-2 on the year. What a thriller!! No runs were scored in this pitching duel in which Kelley Barnes took a giant step forward. Barnes dominated for sinx innings scattering only three hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts. They went on to score four runs in the home half of the seventh on - two off Barnes and two off reliever Bryan Beaver. Moeller scored first in the sixtth inning of the 0-0 game. Matt Ceddia led off with a single and was moved up on a Brett Cisper sacrifice bunt. Bryan Beaver singled sending Ceddia to third when Ryan Gran drove him in with the first run of the game. David Stenger walked to load the bases and Sage Iacovone also walked sending Beaver plateward. Michael Seifert hit a ball back to the pitcher who threw wild to first scoring pinch runner Tony Benedetti and Stenger. Moeller scored what proved to be the winning run on Bryan Beaver's second hit and a Ryan Gran double off the right field wall. But the big play of the day was in the bottom of the seventh tinning with the score 5-4 and a man on second. The Defiance batter lined a single to right field and David Stenger came up throwing. He hit John Farfsing in the middle ofthe infield who threw a seed to Sage Iacovone who blocked the plate snuffing out the tying run. Moeller wins!!! Moeller wins!!!!! Hitting leaders were Ryan Gran 3 for 5, Matt Ceddia and Bryan Beaver 2 for 4 with Brett Cisper and John Farfsing each gathering hits. Moeller record is 14-2 and 6-1 in the GCL.

The first game of Saturday's doubleheader saw the Crusaders recovering from an evening of Cosmic Bowling at the plush Bryan Lanes. Again it took six innings before either team scored. Moeller scored first with two outs Brett Cisper walked and went to second on a wild pitch. Bryan Beaver doubled driving in Cisper. Bryan answered in the home half with their first of four unearned runs off Moeller starter Andrew Kamphake. John Farfsing drew a walk and Michael Seifert came up big with a double scoring Stenger and pinch runner Kelley Barnes. Bryan had a little more fight in the seventh knotting the score at four all to send the game to extra innings. In true Moeller Baseball fashion, it did not take long. Bryan Beaver led off the eighth with his second hit on the day. Eric Lang executed the hit and run to perfection scoring Beaver from second. Alex Fishback and Derek Bresnen followed with hits each driving in a run to put Moeller up for good. Hitting leaders were Matt Ceddia, Bryan Beaver and Alex Fishback who all had two hits with Lang, Stenger, Bresnen and Seifert adding hits. Andrew Kamphake pitched 6 2/3 of masterful baseball with a tremendous relief job from Hadley Bohanan who picked up the win. Hadley entered the game with the winning run at second base and the four hole hitter at bat. He struck him out and pitched the seventth allowing only one hit. Moeller record now stands at 15-1 overall.

Moeller 5, Fairview JV 3 Moeller picked up their 16th win of the season by defeating a huge Fairview JV team. The story line here was the pitching of starter Matt Botts and reliever Ryan Kern. Matt seemed in control pitching 5 l/3 innings allowing three runs, all earned on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. With the score 5-3 and two runners on base, Ryan Kern came in to slam the door on Fairview. Kern pitched 1 2/3 innings with one hit and one strikeout to get the save. The heart and soul of the Moeller offense in this game was Daniel Rosado who came up big in every at bat. Daniel went 3 for 3 with two RBI and a double. Others getting hits in this game were Kelley Barnes, John Farfsing, Sage Iacovone and Matt Welker. The Freshman record is now 16-2 and 6-1 to lead the GCL.

Moeller 8, St. Xavier 7 The Moeller Crusader freshman baseball team stepped up big time today winning their 14th GCL Championship in the last 16 years by defeating The St Xavier Bombers, 8-7. Coming from a three run deficit, the Crusaders scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead 6-5. With one out, Matt Ceddia reached on and error. Brett Cisper walked and Bryan Beaver singled to load the bases. Ryan Grau smacked a base hit scoring Ceddia and Cisper and Beaver went to third. John Farfsing then lofted a sacrifice fly to center scoring Beaver. Moeller was not done yet. David Stenger then singled Grau home fron second for the fourth run. The Bombers would not lay down. They scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up 7-6. Ian Hundley came in relief of Bryan Beaver to get the last two outs in the fifth and then ground the Bombers in the sixth and seventh innings to gain the win. Moeller tied it up in the the sixth when Mike Seifert hit a line shot to left. Keith Rieman dropped a bunt moving Seifert to second and scored on a Brett Cisper single. Big Moe took the lead in the seventh when Bryan Beaver walked, went to second and third on fielders choices and scored on a St. Xavier wild pitch. Hitting leaders for Moeller were Matt Ceddia 2 for 4 with two doubles and one RBI, Bryan Beaver 2 for 3 with one RBI and a walk, Ryan Grau 2 for 4 with two RBI, Michael Seifert 2 for 3 and David Stenger and Brett Cisper with a hit each. The freshman record is not 17-2 and 7-1 to capture a piece of the GCL Championship.

Moeller 8, Anderson 4 The Moeller Freshmen collected their 18th win of the season by beating Anderson 8-4 today. Four Moeller pitchers teamed up to hold the feisty Anderson team at bay. Starter Andrew Kamphake and Hadley Bohanan combined to pitch the first four innings while Ryan Kern pitched the fifth and sixth innings allowing only one unearned run on two hits with two walks and a strikeout to pick up the win. Kelley Barnes pitched the seventh inning and struck out the side. Moeller scored early. A leadoff hit by Alex Fishback and a double by Matt Ceddia scored the first run. Brett Cis per followed with one of his three hits to drive in Ceddia. The Crusaders sent home two more in the second when Kelley Barnes walked, Ian Hundley singled, Tony Benedetti walked and Alex Fishback singled driving in Barnes and Hundley. The big blow came on an Ian Hundley double scoring Ryan Grau and Kelley Barnes who has singled before him in the fifth inning. Hitting leaders were Alex Fishback 2 for 3, two RBI, Brett Cisper 3 for 4 with two RBI, Ryan Grau 2 for 4 Ian Hundley 2 for 3 with three RBI. Others collecting hits were Daniel Rosado and Kelley Barnes. The freshman record is 18-2 and 7-1 to lead the GCL.

Moeller 15, Oak Hills 3 Moeller's Freshmen Crusaders downed the Oak Hills Highlanders today in five innings by a score of 15-3. Matt Botts started on the hill and pitched four innings allowing one run on two hits with one walk and six strikeouts to gain the win. Eric Lang pitched the fifth inning to close the Highlanders out. Moeller hitters came alive in the fourth inning scoring 11 of their 15 runs. With one out, Michael Seifert reached on an error and scored on a Kelley Barnes triple. Brett Cisper walked and Bryan Beaver tripled followed by back to back to back singles from Ryan Grau, Ian Hundley and Daniel Rosado. Alex Fishback walked then Kelley Barnes banged his second hit of the inning and third of the game. Beaver , Grau and Hundley walked to round out the scoring. Hitting leaders for the game were Kelley Barnes 3 for 3 including a triple, a walk two RBI and four runs scored. Brett Cisper 2 for 2 with two walks, two runs and three RBI. Daniel Rosado 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI. Others getting hits were Bryan Beaver, Ryan Grau, and Ian Hundley. The Freshman record is 19-2 and 7-1 in the GCL.
