We often have times in our lives when we are afraid of circumstances that come our way such as the death of a loved one, being rejected because you take a different point of view on atopic, you decide to leave an abusive relationship when people are telling you to stay or perhaps you were robbed at gun point and that traumatic experience left you with a void inside of you that you can’t seem to get over, or get past! That traumatic fear can cause you to shrink into a shell, cave, house or even inside of your mind, which then causes you to reduce the very essence of who you are! You find yourself keeping it bottled up inside of you and then you begin to hear negative voices bringing negative thoughts like, it was your fault, you caused that to happen, you’re not brave, you’re not meant to be anything, you can’t make it, you don’t deserve to live, & the bigger one, nobody loves you, not even God because you’re unlovable! God gives you instructions on what to do to move you forward, but because of that traumatic fear you’ve experienced, you make excuses as to why you’re not fit to be used by God or even go on with life! 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 KJV Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. Those negative voices are a trick from the enemy of your soul, that’s right I’m talking about the devil. He causes the trauma, blames you for it, gets you isolated so he can filter negative thoughts into your mind, all because he wants to alienate you from your family, friends, church family and especially God! He would love for you to blame everything that happens in your life on God! Telling you: if there was a God He wouldn’t have allowed that experience to happen to you, well, let me tell you something. Romans 5:8 AMP says “But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” With that said, not only is there a God who loves you dearly and more than anyone else ever could, but He’s right there with you no matter what you may have to endure in this life. Because of the sin that is in this world and because of the evil that is sometimes inflicted on us, we blame ourselves for falling into the devil’s trap of affliction and then we become stuck on how to get out of it or how to handle it! Romans 8:38-39 AMP says “For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced— beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Which simply means, there is nothing that we can say, do, or experience, that will ever stop God from loving us so hang in there, because God is up to something! #1. I’d like to encourage you to build your relationship with God, especially if you don’t have one with Him, so you may clearly hear His instructions and guidance from the Holy Spirit!. #2. Realize that the devil/Satan wants to keep you in the dark, 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 AMP says But even if our gospel is [in some sense] hidden [behind a veil], it is hidden [only] to those who are perishing; among them the god of this world [Satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelieving to prevent them from seeing the illuminating light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” Don’t allow the devil to distract you and keep you in fear mode any longer. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV says Fear not, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” That rascal doesn’t deserve to trick you. Allow God to open your heart and mind towards Jesus!
Isaiah 43:19 AMP says Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.” God is letting you know and giving you confirmation that not only will He be there for you, but that He has a plan and purpose for your life so don’t ever give up or stop fighting for your freedom, God is with you! He loves and cares for You! I pray you hang in there & don’t give up, because God is up to something, just for you! Sending Love and Blessings to you!
#3. Trust that God is going to change your whole situation around. Isaiah 41:10 AMPC says Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice. I’d like to encourage you, read the Bible, listen to gospel or contemporary Christian songs & allow God’s Word and those songs to invigorate your spirit! #4. If you need to see a Christian Counselor, please do so, don’t allow your pride to prevent you from getting the help you need and just in case it’s in your mind that counseling makes you crazy, that is not true, they will give you with navigational tools to help you move on from the trauma and be at peace. #5. Pray and ask God to help you see yourself the way He sees you and to help you love yourself again so God may move you towards the promise and plan He has for your life! Hang in there because God is up to something!

As casting director for “Dem Gibson’s Films” she loves discovering talent. She also hosted a Radio/TV Show called “Global Warriors on the Frontline” on “Faith Star Radio”. In addition to her entertainment work, she teaches and is the Dean of the Music, TV Film department at HBIU University. She has been a care giver for her mom whom she loved so much and considered it her assignment from God. Though her mom recently passed, she is now an advocate for seniors and caregivers. Most importantly she is a humble servant of God who wants to see God’s people equipped and freed.

In addition to her work in the music ministry, she is the founder of Hand to Hand Global Ministry which aides in helping the less fortunate globally. Her heart is one of a server and missionary. Apostle Veryl Howard has been invited to do ministry in Guyana, Bermuda, Tortola BVI, Aruba, Trinidad, Israel, Benin Cotonu, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Nairobi Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, St. Kitts, Poland, Germany, Antigua, Amsterdam,St. Vincent & Grenadines, St. Marten, Costa Rica, St. Lucia, Dominica, Barbados, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Petite Martinique, Caracuo and Grenada to name a few. She was appointed by the government of Benin, Cotonu Africa as a liaison between the country and US National Gospel Singers, business owners and preachers. Her work also included the Joseph Project in Ghana, Africa with former ministry of tourism where she reconnected African Americans to their tribal roots with trips to Africa. She has been a speaker for the Kenya Christian Fellowship of America. She along-side with Maxwell Edusai helped orchestrate & Africa Prays for America at the capitol in Washington DC. “The body of Christ must link together globally” she states. Her desire is to do more outreach with medical supplies, food, clothing and shoes for those less fortunate. She was honored by the country St. Vincent for her philanthropy work with over 20,000 people on the island. She feels what she is doing is just not enough. Her second book “God is My Ticket Out of the Ghetto” was actually dedicated to raising money for Africa. She notes that God has connected her internationally for the purpose of kingdom building and helping those in need world-wide. This is why her languages are well versed in Spanish as she is learning Italian, and a little Swahili. “The church has become so engrossed in religion and not relationship so the outreach ministry suffers states Apostle Howard. Though Dr. Apostle Howard may not exhibit the “bling, bling” with her name in big lights she believes her “bling, bling” is God. She is what you would call a raw preacher. “It is what it is” she states and she believes God has not called her to play church but to be open, loving and lead his precious sheep to a victorious kingdom life style. With all that said, she oversees ministries and enjoys helping the pastors bring their vision to fruition. Most recently she planted Matthew 6:33 Global Ministries in the DMV area with hopes of teaching sheep to establish a relationship with the king they serve. Beverly Daniel Tatum Beverly Daniel Tatum, author of Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?, shared a key point on the courage we need to educate ourselves and to heal. “Educating ourselves and others is an essential step in the process of change. Few of us have been taught to think critically about issues of social injustice. We have been taught not to notice or to accept our present situation as a given, “the way it is.” But we can learn the history we were not taught, we can watch the documentaries we never saw in school, and we can read about the lives of change agents, past and present. We can discover another way. We are surrounded by a “cloud of witnesses” who will give us courage if we let them.” As we sit in Black History Month, formerly one week, the responsibility to teach ourselves our history is critical to the social, mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health and survival of African Americans. Ms. Tatum also writes, “Sometimes the assumptions we make about others come not from what we have been told or what we have seen on television or in books, but rather from what we have not been told. The distortion of historical information about people of color leads young people (and older people to) to make assumptions that may go unchallenged for a long time.” For the African American community, the impact of daily racism requires a focused effort by all of us. In the article by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they reported in their Abstract, “ CDC analyzed data from ABES to measure perceived racism and the extent to Mogul Leaders Magazine Spring Edition 2023
which perceptions of racism are associated with demographic, mental health, and behavioral characteristics. Mental health and behavioral characteristics analyzed included mental health status; virtual connection with others outside of school; serious difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions; and feeling close to persons at school. Demographic characteristics analyzed included sex, race and ethnicity, and grade. Approximately one third (35.6%) of U.S. high school students reported perceived racism. Perceived racism was highest among Asian (63.9%), Black (55.2%) and multiracial students (54.5%). Students who reported perceived racism had higher prevalence of poor mental health (38.1%); difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions (44.1%) and not feeling close to persons at school (40.7%). Perceived racism was higher among those students who reported poor mental health than those who did not report poor mental health….” These results highlight the importance of knowing history but also seeking mental health support for the needs of our children and adults. Our ability to survive and thrive, as assaults to our existence continue, must be met with trained secular and faith-based professionals.
The Rev. Dr. Lillian C. Smith serves as Pastor, Cheverly United Methodist Church, a multicultural congregation in Cheverly, MD. She is the author of Rooted Again: ReEstablishing Forgotten or Abandoned Connections with God and God's Kingdom Mandate and Words to Live By: Wisdom Keys that Can Change Your Life. She also contributed to numerous publications including: I'm Black. I'm Christian. I'm Methodist. She writes, “African Americans have long struggled with a stigma related to mental health concerns. As a result, many people resisted seeking needed help. God wants you healthy– mind, body, and spirit. Jesus came so that we “would have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). She says, “Beloved, get the help you need from secular and faithbased mental health professionals.” An option to learn ways to integrate faith and mental well-being, is in BB-CBT (Bible Based Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Using the Bible and CBT to Manage Depression, Fear and Anxiety.) Here is the story of three African American business owners who should inspire us ALL! Do you know who served as the fashion correspondent for the 2015 NBA Draft, but was also twice on Time’s list of “30 Most Influential Teens.” He was also invited to the inaugural White House Demo Day, where he was able to personally meet President Barack Obama and give him a special “Obama Blue” gift (bow tie)? The answer is Moziah Bridges better known as Mo’s Bows.
He wrote a book titled, A Young Person’s Guide to Startup Success. Moziah had a partnership with the National Basketball Association in 2017 and met Daymond John when he went to Shark Tank. Daymond services as his mentor as he expands his business. Among his many accomplishments include partnering with Cole Haan, Bloomingdale’s, the Home Shopping Network and Nieman Marcus. Mo’s Bows sold more than $700,000 of bow ties and men’s accessories. Moziah is emerging as a fashion designer at can be the 2021 Memphis Fashion Week Show. Kheris Rogers, age 15, was made fun of at school because of the color of the complexion of her skin. She took a line from an Alicia Keys song, Flexin’ In My Complexion and turned it into a clothing line. What is really amazing is Flexin’ In My Complexion is part of antibullying movement. She sells a variety of products such as hoodies, tote bags, and t-shirts. Her focus is on what makes people beautiful on the inside and being confident in self. Kheris’ mission took off when Alicia Keys posted a message a picture of her on Instagram with the caption, “I love this beautiful girl….and I love her mission! Keep shining.” Our last young entrepreneur is Cory Nieves. When he was six years old he told his mom, Lisa, he want to start a business to money to buy a car. Evidently, he was tired of taking the bus.
Cory started Mr. Cory’s Cookies. Beyond the car, he dreamed of making the world a better place. His original products included lemonade Mogul Leaders Magazine
and cocoa. He and his mom learned to bake and he sold the hot cocoa to save money for college. Today, Mr. Cory’s markets their allnatural chocolate chip cookie made from high-quality ingredients. His line also includes all-natural flavors for his health-conscious customers. You might find favorites such as double dark, oatmeal raisin, and sugar cookies. As a successful entrepreneur, Mr. Cory Cookies partners with leading companies such as Aetna, Barney’s, Whole Foods, Mercedes-Benz, Bloomindales, Ralph Lauren, and more! The business also supports nonprofits such as Bergen’s Promise in New Jersey and Children’s Aid Society in New York City. Cory’s greatest support came from his mom. The more the better right? WRONG!
Some of us have become addicted to watching real people put in scripted situations in hopes to reveal aspects some real life, or fantasy of what life is. Should it entertain you? Inspire? Cause envy? Do you become obsessed or attached? Do you find yourself as soon as the episode is over, thinking about the next one? Have you found yourself comparing your life to what you THINK their life is? Are you trying to keep up with the Jones’s so to speak? Your life has become an empty shell because you have vacated the premises! You have abandoned you to takepart in an illusion of what you think other people are doing in and with their lives. SIt is NOT real and you have neglected the blessing that is YOUR life.
Take Away God has given you life so that you may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) but He has given you your life. Not someone else’s. Furthermore, His word is real and not scripted. So, if you choose to follow a script choose the Holy Word of God.

Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Word to serve as a life guide and a light unto my path. I realize that sometimes I neglect to realize just how powerful Your Word is. I can be so hard-headed sometimes and it leads me down the wrong path. Please help me to decrease the desires of my flesh and increase The Spirit of The Living God within me. I want to focus more on the precious gift that is my life. I so want to learn to seek the truth instead of the lies that are of this world. For I know that every time I make a decision to spend time wrapped up in reality t.v., social media and Apps, that it is less time spent with you. I ask that You help me to see, what is for me is for me and therefore I have no reason to envy what others appear to have. I trust that in Your timing, I will receive what you have already promised to me.
Psalm 37:3-5 -Trust in the Lord and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

DEAREST EARTHEN VESSEL TREASURED How beautiful you have allowed me to make you. When I see the works of your hands and continue to hear the cry of your heart towards my people for their lives to change, how pleased I am and how glorious you are to me. My fields are ripe and my harvest is great beyond any man’s comprehension. I have gathered up a harvest and by my spirit I have begun to move them toward you so stay focused.
The numbers will greatly increase in the days to come, but your labor will not, for you have now entered into my rest. I am also sending many laborers along with this harvest. Patricia Moore, Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, relocated with her family to Atlanta, GA in 2012. Her background includes a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri. She has worked as an Auditor and Project Manager which has helped to cultivate her knowledge and skillset to venture out on her own as an entrepreneur. o you feel stuck? Do you feel alone? Do you think that you are incapable of that one task that you keep picking up and putting down? I know that many things are going through your mind at this very moment as you are reading these words. I come with Good News, but it is up to YOU to embrace and inhale the outcome.
If I can be transparent with you, I was that one who felt stuck, and alone. I would pick up and put down that one task that kept pressing on me. Let me take you on a journey. I was a Senior in high school, when I found out that I was pregnant. I ended up dropping out of school before I could finish. A year after I had my son, I signed up for night school to earn my GED, but I could not stay focused I allowed things to go against my mind. I would look at the people in the class and I thought in my mind they were smarter than me. I was focused on what my boyfriend at that time was doing. I allowed low selfesteem and insecurity to arise in my spirit. I ended up dropping out of the night school not just one time, but 3 times. That task stayed in my spirit, but I felt that I could not accomplish it, so I put it at the bottom of the box and tossed it in the attic thinking it would never be found. Years were passing by and I was getting older. I was going out to clubs, drinking, in and out of relationships and having babies. I finally settled down in a relationship with my good friend. He
J.O.Y. and I knew each other for a few years, and we decided to become a couple. I began to find myself idolizing him. I would put his needs before God. There was a brokenness that I thought I could fix. I had to sit back and review the other relationships that I had been in as well. I never was that one to be so into a man where I would lose myself within him (soul ties). My friend and I started having problems and we decided to take some time apart, and that broke my heart. Even though we were apart we still communicated a few days out of the week. A few months passed; I look up it is August 2015 a Monday morning I received a call that change my life. My friend died from a motorcycle accident. I dropped to the floor, I lost it and a big part of me had died. I could not believe it I had just spoken with him that night, not even an hour before the accident.

I was mad at God that man I thought was supposed to be my husband, but God took him completely away from me. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
That scripture was on replay… I did not know how to cope with life without him. I found myself drinking wine and crying daily until I fell asleep literally every day for almost a year straight. It felt as if I hit rock bottom in my spirit. I felt I had suffered in silence. I would cry when I was alone. I would put my mask on quickly when someone would come around. I feel as though my children, sister and mom felt my pain, because they would always check on me and give me hugs. Page 35
Then one day out of the blue someone invited me to their church and without a doubt I said yes. They picked me up that Sunday for service and as I walked into the sanctuary tears began to roll down my cheeks. I found myself at that church every Sunday for over a year straight at that altar, tears flowing. I needed GOD.I wanted that pain to stop. I did not want to be stuck anymore. I did not want to feel alone. Suddenly during this difficult period of my life God began to speak to me and tell me that I AM HIS CHOSEN Daughter, I AM HIS Masterpiece, I Am No Alone, I Am Valuable, I Am Worthy, I Am Smart, I Am Beautiful, and the list goes on. It felt like Bartimaeus from the bible in the book of Mark 10:51-52 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. My eyes and ears were now open. God heard my cries, and He began to send people to help me. Before I knew it, it was 2018 and that task of finishing High School came back to my spirit. I was now 44 years old researching on how to get my High School Diploma. God had taken that task which I thought got lost and brought it back to the surface during my healing process. January of 2018 was the 3rd quarter of the school year when I started. In the beginning, I had mixed feelings about going back to school at the age of 44. But I knew that feeling was not going to stop me, so I allowed the feeling of excitement to be the leader and the goal to finish to be the winner to look for. I assumed it would be a challenge, because when I attended High school in my teenage years it was difficult for me. I now understand why it was difficult for me, one – because I did not put any effort into doing the work and two - I certainly didn’t invite the Holy Spirit in to help me. Now I am giving it my all. The last two quarters that I attended before summer break with the help of Holy Spirit, I knocked it out of the box. I was able to complete 4 classes with 3 A’s and 1 B - nobody but God. Summer break came and went. It was time to go back to school. I had 4 classes that I needed to complete. Everything was going well with school and life was good. February 2019 a tragedy hit my family. My nephew at the age of less than 24 months was murdered, and my brother as well as the mother needed me. I missed almost 2 months of school. I would go to class when I could as well as do the assignments online. The teacher that was assigned to me was truly an angel. She made sure that I had everything I needed to graduate. And I know that was all God. He had assigned that woman to me because she retired right after that year. The enemy thought he was going to have me dropout of school a fourth time due to the death of my nephew. Now I need you to lean in. It is almost time for graduation, and I found out that with Adult Education High School that they do not allow you to wear caps and gowns to receive your Diploma. I was a little bothered by that news and I said Lord you know my heart’s desire. Less than a day after hearing that, I received an email, stating that they would be allowing stating Mogul Leaders Magazine Spring Edition 2023

that they would be allowing all Adult Education students to wear caps and gowns from that year forward. Glory be to God. This accomplishment meant a lot to me and I wanted the full experience of the graduation. I was the first child to graduate from my parents and I completed that task with honors, not from man but from God. If you do not get anything from what I have written I need you to get this and embrace it. God used what I thought that was going to destroy me to open my eyes and push me into living my best life. Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. Also when God has given you an assignment and, in your eyes, you don’t believe or think that you can do it. I need you to take your hands off it and call on God for help and TRUST HIM with that assignment, even when it does not look like it can be done. There is no assignment too big or too small for God.
And when He has given it to you, I am a witness to tell you that it will not return to him void as He said in the book of Isaiah 55:11 “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it”. How long it takes you to complete the task is up to you. Two things before I close. First: no more allowing yourself to keep you stuck by thinking and saying that you cannot do it. You must change your words to “I can”, and “I will”. No longer will you say” I will try”, because if God told you to do it then that means you CAN DO IT ABSOLUTELY without a doubt. Second thing: the enemy will throw all kinds of hits at you to delay and make you feel that you cannot accomplish what God has called you to. He does not want to see you be GREAT. It is very important that you have a relationship with God, know HIM for yourself. God will teach you how to defeat the enemy. He will show you how to use the power and authority that He has given to you.
But the only way you are going to know about that power and authority is by spending time with God in his word. In closing, I do not care how young or old you are, there are some things that you have put down that will come back to the surface. Guess what? That is the assignment that you need to pick back up now! And ask God to give you everything that you need to complete it. You listen for him and He will answer you through His word, a person, a small still voice. Just trust and know that you will get your answer!

Christel wrote her first screenplay, A Trail of Tears at the age of 20. Her screenplay led to offers from Warner Bros and Disney. She also received a scholarship to Disney’s Writers Program. She went on to write three self-published novels under the pen name Crystal Michaels. One of her novels ranked #1 on Amazon in its genre for eight weeks. Her radio show the Crystal Michaels Show with co-host, comedienne and actress Queen Aisha ran from 2012-2014. Christel went on to direct music videos and became the CEO and founding member of Keletiv Films, Inc. She concentrated on writing and directing her own short films which included The Birthday Wish and Jay’s Truth which brought awareness to domestic violence. Her other short films include Professional Habit, Jomo & Mimi, and A Trail of Tears. After leaving Kelektiv Films, Inc., Christel’s passion for writing and directing was noticed by producers who gave her the platform to write and direct BETHER’s first original film, Her Only Choice. It’s a heartfelt story about a woman faced with the decision of receiving treatment for breast cancer or forgoing it to ensure the safety of her unborn child. Her Only Choice was nominated by the International Press Academy Satellite award for Best TV Movie 2018. Further, this film was loved by the viewers hence it then premiered on BET. DELIVERING A MESSAGE When asked what message is being shared with their audiences through their films, Christel responds, “Each film is different.”
In the late 1990’s, Christel stepped out of the industry to focus on her newlywed husband and raising her children. She is a mother who is dedicated to her children, one of whom is special needs. In 2011, Christel returned to the industry and began writing novels and scripts and directing films. Howard is passionate about bringing knowledge, support, and resources to the creative minds of underserved minorities worldwide. He has held C-Level positions in branding for two technology companies, where he was responsible for cultivating and negotiating strategic alliances: building a value of over $90 million. Howard has a wide range of experience working with large brands as a creative director— Disney, Viacom, Sony, Nike, Mercedes Benz, and Time Warner, to name some. In the 1990’s, Howard shot and produced 100 music videos for top billboard recording artists. As a young minority director, there were limited things he could do. Howard focused on record labels with the intent to deliverhigh quality content. “Music videos are always different, always a challenge,” says Howard.
Christel wrote the TV series Double Cross to bring awareness to sex trafficking, which is a very sensitive topic. She shared that it was challenging to write about the subject with an entertainment value so that the audience would continue to see the episodes. “This topic can be so hard on the soul, so I had to put other stories around it,” Christel reveals. “The importance of family and perseverance is in the overall messaging of this series.” Currently, Double Cross has three seasons, with the fourth season scheduled to be aired in April 2023 on ALLBLK, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and WE tv. Double Cross won the IPVFF TV Spotlight award for 2022. Further, Christel wrote the entire script for the movie Christmas Deja Vu in four days. This movie is about faith and believing in your talents and pushing forward regardless of the challenges faced. This feel-good holiday movie stars Loretta Devine and Amber Riley on major networks such as BET + and is on its way to Hulu. OVERCOMING CHALLENGES Christel and Howard are living proof that it is possible to manifest your dreams. The siblings experienced hardships even as their careers developed. Howard’s health was compromised when he had a double stroke. “I was comatose and paralyzed for a while,” Howard tells us. “It was a reboot for me. I am blessed to be able to recover from it.”
Christel was diagnosed with thyroid cancer while she was pregnant with twins. “I decided to go through with surgery even though there were so many risks involved with my pregnancy. God blessed me and the twins. My faith got me through it,” says Christel. Having experienced these challenges, Christel and Howard made it a point to share their knowledge with others. They have held several workshops for attendees to learn best practices in the film industry. In addition, they have provided many opportunities for family members to learn various roles within the film industry and casted family members in their TV series and movies. “Opportunities must be met with preparation,” states Christel. “You have to be comfortable with God’s timing.” Christel’s path crossed with wellknown actress, singer and director, Phylicia Rashad. Phylicia read Christel’s screenplay A Trail of Tears, and told her, “You are so talented, it just takes one person to give you an opportunity. You are that talented.” “But, it was all God’s timing,” Christel mentions.

Taimak grew up in New York City until he was seven years old. Coming from an interracial background (African American and Italian) his parents chose to move him, his brother and two sisters to Europe. That’s where he got his first taste of the entertainment business. At 11 years old, he had the privilege to meet legendary director and family friend Federico Fellini. Mr. Fellini took Taimak and his family on a tour of Cinecitta studios and the set of “Roma” where he also met another film legend, Vincent Minnelli.

The show featured Luke Aikins jumping out of a plane from 25,000 feet with no parachute, no wingsuit and landing safely in a net. The event earned a Guinness Book of World Records. Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it), in 2016, Flowers was ahead of his time when he coproduced the Black Lives Matter anthem, "Bigger Than Us. Bigger Than Us" which featured NBA’S 4x NBA Champion and 2 time MVP Stephen Curry and All-Star guard,Damian Lillard and was created for JBL. The content of the song and music video revolved around police brutality and racial injustice. It aired on "NBA ON TNT" (not as a commercial) on Dr. Martin Luther King Day. In high school you experience: disappointment, excitement, peer pressure, disloyalty, criticism, love, pain, intelligence and bittersweet moments! I, myself, has experienced it all! Starting out, it wasn’t hard making friends because I’d already known most people and I was always a people person. But, I can promise you that the big group of friends I started with my freshman year, they aren’t still here my senior year! Personally, I’ve continued to stay on the SuperIntendant Honor Roll. I was able to balance sports, basketball and church. I’m a full-time musician; meaning there were a lot of late nights and early mornings. Just recently, I graduated from Williamsburg Technical College before I even graduated from high school. This journey wasn’t easy but with prayer, consistency and dedication I made it! I now have many college acceptances, basketball offers and a lot of money from schools for education. If this was easy to do, everybody would be able to do it! My advice to anyone battling high school is to simply never give up and to have a prayer life! Rashad Russell Flanders- Atlanta Georgia Soccer has been my niche for sometime now. I began playing at the age of 8. I dabbled in basketball and was pretty good at it but soccer and I connected on another level. I started playing soccer at the YMCA and was quickly invited to play with Savannah United by coach Jon Ferguson. I played soccer with Savannah United for 4 years and went on to play with two soccer clubs in South Carolina after leaving Savannah United. I also participated in the soccer programs at both my middle and high school teams while playing club soccer. My senior year of high school I decided I wanted to fulfill my desire to play football, and I did. I maintained fairly good grades, but during Covid it was quite an adjustment academically, physically and mentally. There was no more sports and I was very afraid that opportunities to advance to the next level would be lost. Janice Lewis-Owens, born in Pensacola , Florida. I was raised here in Bainbridge, Ga. I graduated from Bainbridge High School. I got married had three beautiful daughters; LaMishia, Canishia and Nikki Griffin. I got divorced in 2000. I was left to raised my daughters as a single mom. It was hard until I started trusting God. I have since been blessed and remarried to my awesome husband Mario Owens. Where I have a bonus daughter Misty Owens and a bonus son Kendall Owens. i have 5 beautiful grand kids . I started my catering business back in July 2016. I started it on a vision and faith. All my start up came out of pocket. I did not get any loans or had any money in the bank. It just goes to show you when God give you the vision he will also give you the provision. When I started the business our building was very small. We have since added additional space to accommodate more space in our dining area. Right after our renovation is when Covid hit and shut everything down. I was worried at first and then I had to tell myself; God gave you this vision He would dare not let it die. I continued to pray and trust in God and we have survived a lot of obstacles that have came forth. Our restaruant part of the business is open on fridays from 5pm to 9pm for seafood. We have started doing pickup meals on Thursdays from 5pm- 9pm. We are looking in the very near future to add our Sunday soul food lunches back. Thank You, Janice

My parents, grandmother, chef mentors, and spiritual family who often shared a family style dinner after worship groomed my palette and passion for fine dining. Garlic Tuscan Salmon by Chef Erika INGREDIENTS 4 salmon fillets, skin off (or Trout or any white fish) Salt and pepper, to season 2 teaspoons olive oil 2 tablespoons butter 6 cloves garlic, finely diced 1 small yellow onion, diced 1/3 cup dry white wine (OPTIONAL) -- (do not use a sweet white wine) 5 ounces (150 g) jarred sun dried tomato strips in oil, drained of oil 1 3/4 cups half and half *SEE NOTES Salt and pepper, to taste 3 cups baby spinach leaves 1/2 cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese, (do not include for dairy free option) 1 teaspoon cornstarch (cornflour) mixed with 1 tablespoons of water (optional)** 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped I Mogul Leaders Magazine Spring Edition 2023
INSTRUCTIONS Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the salmon filets (or fish if using) on both sides with salt and pepper, and sear in the hot pan, flesh-side down first, for 5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your liking. Once cooked, remove from the pan and set aside. Melt the butter in the remaining juices leftover in the pan. Add in the garlic and fry until fragrant (about one minute). Fry the onion in the butter. Pour in the white wine (if using), and allow to reduce down slightly. Add the sun dried tomatoes and fry for 1-2 minutes to release their flavours. Reduce heat to low heat, add the half and half (or heavy cream), and bring to a gentle simmer, while stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to your taste.
Add in the spinach leaves and allow to wilt in the sauce, and add in the parmesan cheese. Allow sauce to simmer for a further minute until cheese melts through the sauce. (For a thicker sauce, add the milk/cornstarch mixture to the centre of the pan, and continue to simmer while quickly stirring the mixture through until the sauce thickens.) Add the salmon back into the pan; sprinkle with the parsley, and spoon the sauce over each filet. Serve over pasta, rice or steamed veg.

Moreover, BGR is an African American, woman owned company. In existence since 1997, BGR is owned by Leslie Green and Co-operated by husband, Army veteran, Lionel Green. The duo have been recording audio books for themselves as well as hundreds of others since the inception of the audiobook craze. It is mind-blowing to fathom that the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology, has not already been a major player in the audiobook marketplace.
