Who we are? The Pythian Club is a community interest company on a mission to make a difference in how young people are supported across Nottingham. Our engaging programmes and projects challenge young people to take ownership of their futures, build confidence and support emotional, personal, professional and social development. We use football, boxing and music supported by accredited development pathways to engage young people (ages 10-19). We educate, empower and mentor on the importance of making positive decisions and work in an inclusive manner promoting cross cultural understanding. Our specialist experience allows us to design and deliver innovative programmes

Tennis Games Rally over the net. Remember those chairs with the tape (or rope, ribbon, or streamers) stretched between them? Set them up as the net and work with your child to rally the ball over to each other. You can make this activity easier by rolling the ball on the ground or make it harder by switching between forehand and back- hand off the bounce. See how long you can rally with each other. Get in a rhythm with “drop, hit, catch” and “toss, hit, catch.” These games are sure to bring a smile to your child’s face and even work their rhythmic pattern skills! Partner up with them and have them gently drop the ball and hit it toward you so that you can catch it – drop, hit, catch, and repeat. Eve- ry catch is a point! After six hits, change roles and see who can get the most points. Try toss, hit, catch to work on forehand and backhand skills. Begin about three steps apart from your child and toss the tennis ball to the forehand or backhand side and have them rally the ball back to you to catch it.
Boxing Exercises
A little fun session, not only to help with boxing skills, but also literacy skills! An adults help will be needed at 1st, the game involves putting letters of the alphabet on a wall, and the parent then gives the child a word. The child then has to “punch” the word by hitting the correct letters on the wall. 8

The Art of Touch – give an object to each child to touch, such as a ball, a feather, a soft toy, a stone, etc. Ask them to close their eyes and describe what it feels like to a partner. Then ask them to swap. This exercise teaches chil- dren to isolate their senses and to tune into separate experiences. Breathing Buddies – bring along a stuffed animal each and if possible, lie down on the floor and put the stuffed animals on your stomachs. Breath in silence for one minute and notice how your Breathing Buddy moves up and down, and any other sensations you notice. Is it heavy? Is it light? Imagine that any thoughts that come into their head turn into bubbles and float away. Having a Breathing Buddy there makes the meditation more friendly and shows the children that a playful activity doesn’t have to be noisy. The Heartbeat exercise – Jump up and down for one minute and then sit back down and put your hands on your heart. Close your eyes and feel your heartbeats, your breath and whatever else you notice about your bodies.
