Devant la quantité de régimes existant à ce jour, il n’est pas aisé de choisir une solution adéquate pour perdre du poids. Et ce d’autant plus que, dans le monde de la nutrition, la désinformation est courante. Développé aux ÉtatsUnis entre les années 1960 et 1970 par le professeur Blackburn, le régime protéiné est sans doute l’un des plans alimentaires souffrant le plus de ce phénomène : perdu entre les régimes hyperprotéiné et Dukan, celui-ci se retrouve régulièrement incriminé, voire décrié, à tort. Toujours estil que cette diète offre des avantages qui sauront séduire ceux souhaitant perdre du poids tout en bonifiant leurs habitudes alimentaires. En QUoi consistE lE régimE Protéiné ? Bien qu’il ait pour but premier la perte de poids, le régime protéiné se démarque grâce à l’aspect graduel des étapes le composant : l’objectif de fond demeurant le maintien d’un poids maîtrisé et l’établissement d’une alimentation soutenant cette finalité. « Nous utilisons cette méthode car elle est efficace et rapide mais aussi car elle mêle à la perte de poids l’éducation alimentaire. Le

but ultime étant d’aider l’individu à maintenir son poids optimal en changeant ses habitudes alimentaires », précise Anita Grasser, thérapeute en nutrition et propriétaire de Mince Alors !, un centre thérapeutique montréalais spécialisé dans la santé et le bien-être. En faisant en sorte qu’un apport journalier adéquat en protéines soit respecté – soit environ 1 g de protéines pour 1 kg pesé – et que les aliments gras et sucrés soient évacués, ce plan alimentaire vise à libérer le corps de sa dépendance vis-à-vis des lipides et des glucides (le gras et le sucre) ; le tout en lui procurant les apports nutritifs indispensables à sa survie. Puisqu’il repose sur quatre étapes successives et progressives, celui-ci permet de régler le problème d’hyperinsulinisme lié à la dépendance au sucre et, ainsi, d’établir de bonnes routines alimentaires. commEnt FonctionnE cEttE diÈtE ? « L’insuline, qui est sécrétée par le pancréas, est chargée de réguler le taux de sucre dans le sang, mais elle agit aussi comme une hormone de stockage. Lorsque nous ingérons trop de sucre, elle le transforme en gras », explique
Anita Grasser. Et celle-ci d’ajouter : « Pour perdre du poids, la solution idéale est donc de retirer ce qui fait grossir, soit le sucre et le gras ». En déplaise à bon nombre d’entre nous, les desserts, les fruits, l’alcool et le fromage sont donc à bannir. « Nous ne mettons pas en danger nos clients, se défend par ailleurs la thérapeute. Ce plan alimentaire consiste en des apports régulés en protéines, ces macromolécules capables de restructurer la masse musculaire et de procurer, par le biais des huit acides aminés essentiels, le glucose dont le corps a besoin. Face à l’élimination du gras et du sucre de l’alimentation, le corps va aller puiser dans ses propres réserves ». En poussant
ainsi l’organisme dans un état de cétose, le régime protéiné va amener le corps à consommer le sucre et le gras qu’il a stocké. « Ce mécanisme illustre le fait que notre corps est bel et bien programmé pour survivre face à ces restrictions. Il s’agit d’une machine qu’il faut apprendre à connaître » souligne Anita Grasser. Notons que le processus décrit ci-dessus est initié durant la première phase du régime. Le but est de mettre immédiatement « le pancréas au repos » et d’obtenir une perte de poids dès le début des opérations. Les trois autres étapes qui le structurent se centrent quant à elles sur la rééducation de l’organisme : lors de la seconde phase, l’accent est mis
