The cool thing about going to a college that’s on the coast is that you can surf in the morning and still make it to class on time. Or you may show up to class and end up going to the beach anyway. Well, actually the bay, but still, it’s water, and our Coastal Environmental Science major takes advantage
of that. One such class got the opportunity to wade into the water to collect fish for a lab. During this trip, dolphins were spotted, and a cannonball jellyfish was accidentally caught. Not something you get to experience in a classroom, or at a college that’s not five minutes from the beach.

Ain’t no party like an art block party. With actual wooden blocks. Students in Relief Printmaking drew and carved graphics onto pieces of MDF wood, then rolled them with ink and stamped t-shirts, bed sheets, or paper with their designs. This happens every fall semester, so hang on to some spare t-shirts or sheets!

It’s easy to feel lost in a new town and a new school, and Flagler students put that into an art project. They took to the streets with the intention of showing the town how important typography is. Choosing the word ‘Identity’, the group of three
students made the word out of cardboard, then covered it in “Hello, My Name Is” stickers. Passers-by could then write their name on a sticker, interacting with the installation and becoming a part of the identity of the city of St. Augustine.
There’s something fun about being in a small town. There are all sorts of events that take place here: First Friday Art Walk, Nights of Lights, and numerous fairs and festivals. Did we mention there’s always good music and food, pretty much everywhere you look? Yeah, we’re down for that, too. Lots going on here, you should join.

Final exams can be a trying time: you forget to eat, you survive off of coffee, and you haven’t showered for days. Thankfully, we know that, and want to provide some relief. Bring in the
friendly dogs and fun activities! Roll around in a human-sized hamster ball, run through an obstacle course, and be kissed free of anxiety by pups. It’s all you could ask for (plus pizza).
We know it’s a bit early to be thinking about college, and we don’t want to stress you out. But it’s really great here, and we think you’d like it (it is as amazing as we make it seem).
